If your "meloncholy" or obvious talent is so moving that it "can" be shown to others and translate to them (like Tori or Elliott Smith) then go for it.
But imitating someone elses passion will always be corny.
Alone it is one thing, in front of others means, it is time for a filter check.

But go, and do your own thing.
I "think" she might say the same to you.
Imitating her will not make you her or as accomplished, so it will always fall short if that is where you go w/ it.
