@atmospherepro I played Eschalon Book 1. It's similar, the biggest difference (that I can recall) is the party-based system in Avadon.

@realbboy88 Spiderweb Software is an independent game developer company, thus it has little outside funding other than what they make for themselves, it is vital for Indie game devs to re-use lots of their own material, otherwise we wouldn't be getting these great games as quickly as we are now.

Not that I know much about it, but all the earlier FPS seemed mostly to be males. And then came Lara Croft. There were probably some before then, but Tomb Raider was the first game I ever played and I hadn't even heard of MMO's etc back then.

I use to play the Exile series. I loved it. But when they went to the isometric view it wasn't too fun anymore. I did try, about a year ago, to play one of the Avernum games and it was better then I remembered. I will give this one a try though.

@paulsoaresjr I'm with you there. Skyrim on pre-order oh yeah my eager hands can't wait lol. As for Phantasie I vaguely remember it. I think I had it on Commodore64 lol. Adventure style game. Pick your crew and explore dungeons etc. Back then playability mattered since graphics didn't. Was a decent game for its time. Then we get a little older but still play them in one form or another :)

i really like tactical/ strat rpgs, but my main problem with the vast majority is that controlling 3 or even 5 characters on the battlefield is boring to me and lends nothing to the art of maneuver.

thats why i liked Shining Force so much, i could split my group into 3 task forces and create a large amount of diversity and balance in the teams.

@smurfinpsp I got started with Avernum and played them all. Wasn't too keen on Geneforge but I'm enjoying Avadon quite a bit. Definitely more streamlined/accessible but that's probably necessary to capture a wider/changing audience.

You forgot to adjust game volume Paul. You might want to try a test record first to see how the game volume stacks up against yours in these videos that way you can adjust before you put these out. :) Just a helpful tip in my opinion.

@Shawnoo7Fra I'm a FF player, I see what you mean. But doesn't Warrior, Rogue, Priest, Mage = WoW make as much sense? It's not like FF is the only RPG out there. Besides, most games don't create unique classes. I have played one game in the past years that did, and that was Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Pretty much all the others are using these standard classes. So yeah.

The game is very enjoyable, but unfortunatelly it's too shallow compared to the old classics. Gameplay-wise Avadon is like Dragon Age: Origins, but with much less choices/consequences and far better writting and characters. I think the setting is very inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire books.

Graphics are quite good (if isometric 2D is your thing) and so is the interface. I'd love to play the Avernum series with this new engine.
