ok u can see the plank is actually cut in two pieces that's fine...
so there should be some serious weight added to the tires on the uphill side to make them move like this and they do seem to stick to where they move... but then again once you knock them off the ideal balance point.. shouldn't they roll back downhill? how on earth do they find a new balance point once the weight is down and stand there? if someone has the answer i'd appreciate
Stick a really heavy weight in the wheel (with the weight being at the top), balnce it carefully then give it a nudge - until the weight has spun to the bottom of the wheel it will roll forwards - even uphill.

I work with advertising, and one thing that we're always running against is TIME. I doubt any client would give the agency the luxury to plan and make the commercial in one (or two) take. So, if that's not all CG, it HAS to be lots of (not 2 or 3) shots stitched together.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hmmmm... no CGI? All in one shot? Come on people... at MINIMUM the shot several pieces and then added them all together on the computer, erasing the edges digitally.
I thought there were many shots later composed, the tire sequence for example is absolutely unreal. Obviously they want us to think it was a single shot, or two or three, caus e that is what is about, but for me there is plenty of composing job in the ad.
I find an incredible amount of time and money for this, it is very good but not worth.
The tire sequence is absolutely real. As is the rest. As Aerodynamics said, no more than 2 shots, and that only because the studio wasn't long enough.

Ok, if it was to shots, then what was the point of making it that way instead of composing small parts to bring it together in 2-4 weeks pre, 20 hours of shooting and one week of post ? If the idea was to show Honda works then make it work !
And why make a stupid making off video where you can´t even see the so called "two shot" "wonderfull" "working" hardware?
Zero credit on "making it work flawlessly on a single shot" with a reasonable amount of money. Next time rent a biger set.
A bigger set didn't exist, unless you want to rent a movie set, which, for an advertisement was much too expensive.
Can't see the hardware? You see NOTHING but the working hardware.
And, the point of making it this way is there is no cheating. Everything you see happens as you see it. One full minute of making things work JUST right, followed by one more minute of he same. No CGI, no 5-second clip where things have no chance of going wrong.

Ok, you got a point, as the phrase in the begining says succes is 99% failure, so if I buy a Honda,( as the clapperboard said take 606!! ), I should expect to make 606 tries before I can turn it on or brake? As I said in my first comment is a good ad, but not worth. and finally if they wanted to really transmit the succes the ad should have been a making off hand held camera behind the scenes of the complete choreography. If you see the length is not so much, any medium/small set would work.
"I should expect to make 606 tries before I can turn it on or brake?"
No. Just as Edison failed 1,000 times before he succeeded in inventing the light bulb, Honda failed 605 times before getting everything to work perfectly.
Would you like to rely on one of Edison's early bulbs to light your home?
Are you driving a car where the manufacturer doesn't really care if "things just work"?
Honda failed 605 times and never didi it in one shot, never acomplished it.
I don´t see success or getting everything work perfectly in an advertisement so expensive that looks composed, or in the behind the scenes where you don´t see the shot or two shots raw, looks very fake, and it was very expensive. As I said before I think it is an ok ad (very far from genius), that looks composed and very expensive.
"Honda failed 605 times and never didi it in one shot, never acomplished it."
They DID accomplish it. Not on the first take, or the second, or even the 5 hundredth. They persevered until they got it right. Edison persevered until HE got it right.
If Edison had given up after a couple of hundred tries, the light bulb may not have been invented until years later - maybe decades.
If you want to live in a half-assed world and settle for mediocrity, go for it.
yeah, everyone does have their own opinion. yours blows. it was impossible to do it in one shot because the room wasn't big enough smart ass.. stop being jealous and return to 5th grade o.O.
That was my point since the begining, thank you. read above, I have remarked since the begining that the ad is ok, I am not jealous at all, I like to see Composing jobs and figure out them. This is the "making of" and you never see that single shot, and nowhere says it was made in one or two shots. English is not my native language, and this is a forum to discuss not to insult.
Pussy
You are the one insulting on the internet people you dont know. I was just disscussing the making of video of an advertisment, and the fact it wasn´t made in one shot, not the quality of the ad or other people spelling or intelligence.
Je souhaite que tu parle le francais mieux que moi.
How on earth does anyone have that much patience?! I would have given up a long time ago. It is great that someone in this world still cares to make real art :)
I just figured someone whose not a fucktard should probably comment. This is awesome, why on earth would you CG it, the entire point is it shows that their engineers can make highly complex systems work flawlessly. I wouldn't trust lucas to build me a spaceship, but he sure can make one look pretty.
they make so many things digitally now, why couldnt they just make the ad by computer graphics? i know its awesome that they actually made it, but they would have saved sooo much time...
The number of days put into this commercial, isn't even close to the amount of Honda Accord's sold

yeah it would roll back downhill, and as you can kinda see, it starts to, but the camera moves to fast to catch it.
