  • The number of days put into this commercial, isn't even close to the amount of Honda Accord's sold

  • Bravo!! (les tripes à l'air... applaudissements.. et toute cette sorte de choses)

  • "Hey I've got an idea, instead of making CGI look like real life, lets make real life look like CGI"

"GREAT IDEA!! but it's going to cost us millions of dollars and months of work for a 2 minute video"

    ".....what's your point?"

    "Nothing! Lets do it!"

  • What's the name of the song towards the end of this video?

  • PLS tell me whats the name of the song playing at 2:40 to 3:40? THX

  • can someone explain me how the tires go uphill and what's with the plank going thru the windowglass...

im sure it's real just curious

  • ok u can see the plank is actually cut in two pieces that's fine...

so there should be some serious weight added to the tires on the uphill side to make them move like this and they do seem to stick to where they move... but then again once you knock them off the ideal balance point.. shouldn't they roll back downhill? how on earth do they find a new balance point once the weight is down and stand there? if someone has the answer i'd appreciate

  • yeah it would roll back downhill, and as you can kinda see, it starts to, but the camera moves to fast to catch it.

  • Stick a really heavy weight in the wheel (with the weight being at the top), balnce it carefully then give it a nudge - until the weight has spun to the bottom of the wheel it will roll forwards - even uphill.

  • i was sure that everything is CG) wow, i'm bit shocked)

  • very good!!!!我找了很久!!!!

  • You work with advertising, obviously don't know a thing about CGI.

  • i highly doubt that

  • well I guess Honda gave the agency that luxury..

  • 2 shots.. but they did it in two shots because the studio wasn't beg enough to fit the whole thing.

  • Are you sure on that?

I thought there were many shots later composed, the tire sequence for example is absolutely unreal. Obviously they want us to think it was a single shot, or two or three, caus e that is what is about, but for me there is plenty of composing job in the ad.

I find an incredible amount of time and money for this, it is very good but not worth.

  • The tire sequence is absolutely real. As is the rest. As Aerodynamics said, no more than 2 shots, and that only because the studio wasn't long enough.

  • A bigger set didn't exist, unless you want to rent a movie set, which, for an advertisement was much too expensive.

Can't see the hardware? You see NOTHING but the working hardware.

And, the point of making it this way is there is no cheating. Everything you see happens as you see it. One full minute of making things work JUST right, followed by one more minute of he same. No CGI, no 5-second clip where things have no chance of going wrong.

  • videovolador:

"I should expect to make 606 tries before I can turn it on or brake?"

No. Just as Edison failed 1,000 times before he succeeded in inventing the light bulb, Honda failed 605 times before getting everything to work perfectly.

Would you like to rely on one of Edison's early bulbs to light your home?

Are you driving a car where the manufacturer doesn't really care if "things just work"?

I think the ad is genius and well worth it...

  • Honda failed 605 times and never didi it in one shot, never acomplished it.

I don´t see success or getting everything work perfectly in an advertisement so expensive that looks composed, or in the behind the scenes where you don´t see the shot or two shots raw, looks very fake, and it was very expensive. As I said before I think it is an ok ad (very far from genius), that looks composed and very expensive.

    Everyone has their own opinion.

  • "Honda failed 605 times and never didi it in one shot, never acomplished it."

They DID accomplish it. Not on the first take, or the second, or even the 5 hundredth. They persevered until they got it right. Edison persevered until HE got it right.

If Edison had given up after a couple of hundred tries, the light bulb may not have been invented until years later - maybe decades.

If you want to live in a half-assed world and settle for mediocrity, go for it.

    Have fun at Wal-Mart.

  • yeah, everyone does have their own opinion. yours blows. it was impossible to do it in one shot because the room wasn't big enough smart ass.. stop being jealous and return to 5th grade o.O.

  • next time, shut the fuck up. o.O you can't even spell correctly let alone give advice, so just back the fuck off.

  • Rendfather "It wasn´t made in one shot."

That was my point since the begining, thank you. read above, I have remarked since the begining that the ad is ok, I am not jealous at all, I like to see Composing jobs and figure out them. This is the "making of" and you never see that single shot, and nowhere says it was made in one or two shots. English is not my native language, and this is a forum to discuss not to insult.

Pussy

  • You are the one insulting on the internet people you dont know. I was just disscussing the making of video of an advertisment, and the fact it wasn´t made in one shot, not the quality of the ad or other people spelling or intelligence.

Je souhaite que tu parle le francais mieux que moi.

  • Just imagine the energy in that room once they got it right

  • How on earth does anyone have that much patience?! I would have given up a long time ago. It is great that someone in this world still cares to make real art :)

  • I swear the god I coudn't believe that it was real-time shooting till I saw this.

All you can do is admiration.

  • because cg looks fake

  • That was such a good commercial! i bet it was frustrating as hell getting everything to work just right!

  • Cuz if they would have done it in the computers, it would be fake - thus allowing thousand of Youtube users flaming them for doing it fake.

  • Yeah, cus the graphics would give it away if in used in the time.

  • I just figured someone whose not a fucktard should probably comment. This is awesome, why on earth would you CG it, the entire point is it shows that their engineers can make highly complex systems work flawlessly. I wouldn't trust lucas to build me a spaceship, but he sure can make one look pretty.

  • they make so many things digitally now, why couldnt they just make the ad by computer graphics? i know its awesome that they actually made it, but they would have saved sooo much time...

  • but you said it. "it is awesome that they actually made it", if they had used CG, it would be a normal commercial :)
