Saw ELO play CNE Stadium in Toronto Canada July/78 with Meatloaf and Trickster-a totally awesome show-who else but Jeff Lynn could take cello's and violin's and make them seem like such natural instrument's for any band. Saw them play a couple of years later at a bar in Kitchner Ontario Canada called LuLu's that held approx. 1500. Don't get the wrong impression, this bar was known for big name band's playing there. The only thing missing was Jeff Lynn, he was with the Travelling Wilberries.
Whatever happend to Hugh McDowell? Did he keep playing with ELO or did he go off on his own. I love ELO, and I always get chills up my back and arms when I listen to Mr Blue Sky and Telephone Line...:) Even after I die, I feel deep down in my soul that we will remember the songs and the greats from ELO...:)
@turonlupita1 Hugh McDowell stayed with ELO till 1979 when Jeff didn't want string selection supposely as story goes well something like that and Hugh later joined ELO 2 I think it was only for one tour.I don't know because I don't remember. As for Mike Edwards he left ELO in 1975 he was of course replace by Mr. Gale. I also feel same way but for one song I really like "Can't Get It Out of My Head" I sometimes joke that after I die I will keep listening to it in afterlife.
On Mr Blue Sky video (the original) where a band member runs across stage with cello and he also puts his hand on Jeffs shoulder when they sing mr blue you get it right but soon comes mr night, same person as above mentioned--is this Mike Edwards... and if so...I am really gonna miss him..:( Everytime I see this video, I see the above mentioned "hand on shoulder" and I get the shivers....
@turonlupita1 I seen video and member you are thinking of is Hugh McDowell. Heh and I am assuming this you probably notice my thinking in this video I sometimes get a funny feeling as if pictures will come alive any second and members are actually singing and moving.
Mr. Groucutt's first name was Kelly, not Michael...Thanks for posting, though....I didn't know that Mike Edwards passed. That's sad. He was such a character, and even though I liked Hugh McDowell (Edward's replacement), I always missed Mike...
