  • This video is amazing.

  • So many people have some great stories to share after watching this video. I would appreciate if you could stop by here to this facebook group maybe some people would be willing to share stories and further advice to like minded people. The link to the group is in the description.

  • "Suicide is a Permanent solution to a Temporary solution"...... I was suicidal because I was bullied by my peers at school, but my belated father committed suicide while he was Under the Influence, I wish he could've realized he how much he was worth to me and realized how much I loved him... I hope you people out there realize how important you are in someone's life and get the help you need, let your pride go and get help.. I did... I wish my father did. Your families need and love you.

  • @brownmocha02 realized how* take out the "he"

  • @brownmocha02 Temporary Problem...not solution... sorry, I'm tired

  • i've been thinking about killing myself because of my drinking, i won't do it now

  • @exomorphe I was in the same place with weed. I went to AA and was honest, open-minded, and willing. I've been sober for 8 months now and life is enjoyable again. Keep going to meetings until you find one where you hear someone else tell your story to you without ever meeting you.

  • "It's IMBARISSING!!!! "

    Craig is so cool!

  • Alcohol is 100% poison.

    Stay green

  • @NuclearD420 you can be addicted to weed too.

  • I'm sitting here with a glass of Vodka in my hand! Thank you Craig. I'll try!

  • I was almost going to be the 1 dickhead to dislike this video, but this video spoke to me so much that it made doing so impossibe...

  • Wow... I really felt my life changing in this very moment...

  • 16 days sober and i drank 2 bottles of teqila 2day and made a fool of myself, ohh god

  • This is amazing. Everyone is laughing and all that, but when it's you, you know what this man is talking about

  • I can only applaude to this monologue!

  • My favourite talk show host. A real guy with real problems. Dealing with his problems. A real stand up guy!! Thanks, from a fellow alcoholic.

  • Craig's accent is really strong! Love it! <3

  • I don't have a drinking problem, I have a thinking problem. --This is perfect, there is no better way to sum it up. This video is my inspiration, I quit drinking for 18 months and started back again thinking I could keep a handle on it. Now, here i sit, 5:06 am, unable to sleep and wallowing in self pity. I'll watch this daily if I have to, I will not allow myself to be controlled by this, from this day forward I am challenging myself not to have another drink.

  • @ravencf i haven't been 18 months sober since i was about 15 years old. how did u do it

  • @daberr2 You can't quit until you decide you want to. My problem was I "wanted to want to" quit and failed many times before those 18 months. Even when I started drinking again I did it to test myself to see if I could keep a handle on it and I could not so I quit again.

As Craig says, some people can drink and some cannot, once you accept you are one that cannot and truly set your mind to it you can do it. You don't HAVE to have a 12 step program, you have the power within yourself. Promise

  • I'm going to have "the talk" tonight with my alcoholic boyfriend. We both love this show, maybe I'll play it for him so he can see that you can get your life back and still be able to laugh.

  • Craig is a class act.

  • Wow, one of the most inspiring talks on alcohol from Craig Ferguson? Good for you Craig! Very inspiring.

  • I need to go into bloody rehab for watching Craig Fergus videos on YouTube - it's getting out of control

  • I found the secret is to do something so personally repellant that the thought of getting drunk is tantamount to a moral stroke. From what I understand, this doesn't usually work for people who drink quite as heavily as I used to. But after a good half-week of hearing my own voice yelling terrible things at me from the wall, it did kind of lose its appeal.

  • I'm 27 years alcohol free! Never got into it~ :) With that said, I won't say not drinking makes me stronger. To the contrary, I believe if you've been in a situation like Craig's, and you're able to make a come back like he has, THAT makes you stronger! Proud of you Craig! And I'm proud of everyone else who is able to get their lives back from Alcohol! =D

  • I'm related to an alcoholic. Life's a bitch.

  • yeah, I need the motivation. I was clean for a year. I fell off the wagon thinking I could drink socially only around others and only a few drinks. It worked well for a month then the past 2 weeks is just an alcoholic blur. Body started rejecting everything I put in it. I was beyond depressed. liquor bottles everywhere, hygene terrible, house in shambles. that was 3 days ago, and I'm just now feeling normal. still dehydrated, with the runs. but I finally got a few hours of sleep thank god

  • @a2r1v1i2s Good on you. The first week is the hardest. In that first stage of withdrawal, food, vitamins and sleep are the main aim. Get those and you will get better. Good luck!!! If you can't eat, get some meal replacement drinks.

  • I got 90 days yesterday. I used to watch this piss drunk because he was talkin solution. Total respect for this man, too bad the audience thinks its a joke.

  • @bigt0530 - I think the audience was laughing because Craig was funny, not because they were taking it as a joke. It's a powerful thing he did in this monologue, and he did it with honesty, empathy, AND humor. Humor is a very powerful resource and I think he hit all the right notes with it here.

  • Do you know why there are no "dislikes" on this video? Yep, you're right. No matter what you're thinking, you're right. Craig=awesome.

  • 27 days sober today!

  • Love it, so very well said, Craig! 11+ years sober here and totally agree with everything he says.

  • i wish i could stop drinkin so much but when everyone ur around drinks what else do ya do? i smoke blunts but beer comes naturally with that.

  • @kronichsmoker42: You asked "when everyone ur around drinks what else do ya do? The answer, as painful as it may be, is stop being around those people.

  • every time i think about drinking i watch this; you are a good man.

  • Really amazing. When he speaks about the insight that he was self-medicating with alcohol due to "a thinking problem", I got goosebumps. I've heard the term before, but he really nailed the description.

    Funny, poignant, and personal.

  • When he says "I can't do this anymore.. i'm going to kill myself.. I'll show them". I think anyone with an addiction has had those thoughts. His message is so uplifting; he shows you the dark side but also the hope and experience.

  • God bless him.

  • As a guy who works in Addictions, this is a fatastic story. I have total respect for Craig Ferguson since seeing this video. Not just another cheesy Americanized (with a 'z' for effect) talkshow host. An inspiration. An ordinary flawed guy.

  • A powerful message of experience, strength and hope delivered in a comedic way. Superb.

  • I love that there are zero dislikes

  • Way to go Craig!! It takes courage to deal with alcohol dependence and share it with the world! Thanks for sharing. You give hope to many people who are battling this condition the world over.

  • this is amazing that a person that has the viewership he has would choose to open a show with such a powerful issue and i am eternally grateful that a man of his stature would transfer an issue from lindsay lohan to the everday person that really affects people on a daily basis instead of making fun of them

  • So very a rare. a man speaking from the heart on TV. I am an alcoholic and everything this man says is so true!

  • i need help

  • @cjh1505 If Craig can do it so can you!

  • @cjh1505 Go to a meeting

  • @cjh1505 He tells you what to do right at the end. Go to AA. It's free. And there's probably a meeting within a few miles of your house/job.

  • @DutchPrisoner Great story, reminds me that alcoholism can effect people of all walks of life and society. Rich, poor, celebrity or not. great share by Craig.

  • wow. i was drinking a foster's while watching this. didn't even take a sip. respect craig ferguson

  • " No sympathy. Just don't drink"

If only it was that easy. I will pass the same Budweiser advertisement a hundred times at the same gas station. Life is good nothing crazy that would be a trigger. Yet I see that same advertisement and want nothing more than to cash in on that deal. Logic suddenly does not exist. And I quickly develop theatrics that Shakespeare would envy so my friends and family have no idea but I my drink. I'll take the evils of Satan over the reality of addiction

  • @Firefox227 your an ass!!

  • God bless this man.

  • made me cry...

  • 3 days sober, im coming back bitchez!

  • @codownni Still sober ?

  • @petaunot

I am indeed. Back to my good self.

  • @codownni I hope you're still sober my friend. I'm doing my best to stay sober today too! God Bless you!

  • @codownni How's it going now for you ?

  • @KrackowKid

Can't believe I wrote that a year ago. Life's great, I can drink normally now, have self control and am living a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. I was in such a bad place when I wrote that comment. Never thought I'd get to where I am now, life is good. Are you in recovery?

  • This is what life is REALLY about. The SUPERHUMAN sacrifices that most of us wouldn't fathom making to keep moving on. Yea, his life is much better, but more importantly, his life became an instrument for inspiration to others. These are the kind of things that matter: making a difference in the world.

  • Only ppl who are truly familiar with addiction can appreciate how powerful this is

  • @theheatofthemoment Thanks friend, what a great comment. I'm a recovering alcoholic (I'm 27, 5 years sober) but I appreciate comments like you posted. I completely agree with your view. God bless.

  • I teared up when I first saw this video and just did again.

Craig speaks like someone right out of the rooms of recovery, but he makes it so accessible to listen to. I love and respect this man. This video came at an important time for me, and damnit I will meet him some day!

  • Craig Ferguson's ad is from like 15 years ago.

  • Yes, there can be humor in our recovery. This is healthy. Good On You Man!

  • Best 10 minutes in television history.

  • I never woke up in my own urine, but I'm glad to have quit drinking nonetheless.

  • @matthewclara1 Good for you man...Ive done totally worse than this guy...and almost wrecked my life...Im on that long road to recovery
