REM=Rapid eye movement, well, yeah, but only the dream thing. The name R.E.M. (mark the ts) is actulally a coinsident! They just went for a name that didn't say anything about them or their music. doPeter wanted it to be "Twisted Kites" but the others didn't like it... You should all read the biography "Fiction" by David Buckley! A great book!
