after 2 weeks of about 15 pounds of salt on my living room and bedroom carpets, covered by tarps, there were no fleas for last 3 days---then today i found 3 fleas!
you just can't get rid of these damn things.
tomorrow i'll be getting two cans of flea spray; started spraying toxic professional stuff days ago, cause i've been using home remedies since july, and this nonsense has to end, though there doesn't seem to be any end in sight when it comes to trying to kill fleas.
i was wondering were can you find argiope arauntia that spider is hard for me to fing and can you tell me were they are found give me lots of detailed info thanks kasey
We removed the carpet, found beautiful red oak flooring. Refinished it and put an area rug down where it's needed and we can wash it outside with a flea soap then a rug soap and our flea problem is 1/10th what it was with fully carpeted floors. If you prefer carpet lower pile carpet is harder for fleas to live in than thick loop pile. Easier to keep clean too. Of course not having dogs or cats is the easiest cure.
Diatomaceous earth (dust, you can buy in home stores and farm stores) in the lawn has the same effect of cutting and drying the fleas. If your soil acidity could handle lime being spread it also helps because the lime dust dries the fleas but don't use lime if it will ruin your soil chemistry. Wash your pet with Dawn blue dish soap, it breaks down the flea's body.
If by refined he means smaller crystals, you could put salt in your blender rather than look for a "special" kind of salt. You can make your own powdered sugar by putting it in the blender instead of spending the money on the premade stuff, too.
We are trying this. I just used regular table salt, so hopefully that works, but I salted all of our furniture and pet bedding. We are leaving for a week so we will see if it works for us!
So far it does seem to. There are still some stray fleas who don't know how to die. But it has gotten a million times better than this time a week ago.
Sounds like a great way to kill the little bloodsuckers without risking any harm to pets. This would also be good for households with young children. No toxins!
Thanks! This is such a relief. I'm going to go ahead and do this until I can get my hands on a good fogger & get my dog out of house for long enough to use it. I'll let ya know how it works for me!

Does the salt damage the vacuum cleaner?

@TotalComposure fine ground salt is no worse on a vacuum than the dirt that comes in on shoes

THANK you. I just salted the whole house even after a bomb has not killed all the fleas. I really hope this works or I just might go insane.

The cost effective way to deal with fleas on your pet is to throw them regularly in the ocean and let the salt of the ocean dessicate the fleas.
