  • Duck and cover ? :D

  • I suppose it's only a matter of time until these sorts of films are brought back with the terrorist angle.

  • @MrV6sport Factor 30,000,000,000 is probably better than covering your head with a news paper. :)

  • god thats horrible how people had to live like that in fear basically....that at any moment the bomb could go off.

  • @hippiegirlatheart - That's the cold war for you!

  • A couple of questions:

    1. What was the context of this post? (What was the theme of the week?) It's so anachronistic, and seems rather naive in light of what we know today.

    2. Why would you *want* to survive a nuclear attack?

  • If you were flashed... You will get radiation sickness from the Alpha, beta and gamma rays discharged during the first seconds of detonation.

  • i like how they think the same way you cover during an earthquake will save you from nuclear radiation...

  • ummm wait a minute? the japs didint posses atomic bombs at the time??

  • @fallout401 Cold war. We were afraid of the soviet union.

  • @temarichan2 the cold war, the U.S was afraid and so was the SovietUnion they were both afraid of nuclear fallout and mass destruction but in the end who won kid.

  • @fallout401 I was saying that this movie was made because of the cold war not the Japanese. I do know who won the Cold War. I may be American but I'm not that stupid.

  • @temarichan2 who won the cold war mr. american?

  • @fallout401 A. I'm female.

    B. Basically no one because the Soviet Union broke apart and the cold war just kind of died out with no one to really fight it. But we Americans like to think we won it.

  • this whole thing was a government propaganda to make us fear russians

  • @260830107 No, not really. The fears of atom bombs being dropped were very real back then, so to calm people down and try to curb paranoia, they made these films so they could sleep at night. Kind of like tornado preparedness videos... Same thing. I live in the heart of tornado alley, I've seen them all.... It makes a person feel better if they think they have some kind of chance for survival, thus, these films. A perfect example of "the Russians are coming" Red Dawn, a 1980's film

  • Why did MST3K pass this one up?!!?

  • wow.. Blankets saves lives.

  • u will be burned and u will have no time to duck the light is as storng as the sun

  • Everyone commenting here laughing about the use of newspapers for protection and duck and cover as measurements against radiation poisoning are IDIOTS. A little research into the subject you stupid citizens! Until the ban of lead from newspaper ink in 1985, newspapers were a good and cheap source for lead protection. Infact 1 inch of lead ink equals 6 inches of concrete cover in radiation protection. Also check your facts, there's Hiroshima survivors still living who were in a 2 miles range!

  • oh my god..... LEAD DUCT TAPE CAN SAVE US ALL!!!!!

  • Last night, I had a dream that my country (The US) was attacked by the atom bomb, but the alarm was long, and there was no flash. Later in that dream, on the news, it said that the atom bomb alarm was set off by accident.

  • Q- what do you do when you see a flash?

    A- nothing. you already dead

  • You mean that newspaper isn't going to save us? :O

  • @SevenAwesomeKids there is a chance if you time it right. before you see the flash, cover yourself with the newspaper

    = o

  • from now on im taking a newspaper to where ever i go! SAFER

LIGHT!!!! DUCK AND COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh @SevenAwesomeKids

  • Keep in mind this was the 50's and im sure we all know that if there was any form of Nuclear fallout your fucked unless you have a lot of duck tape or an anti-radiation chamber near you..........

  • I remember learning duckNcover in elementary in the 60s, useless if your within say 10miles of the blast. Just gives people some hope not much but some.

  • wow what a bunch of bullshit duck and cover lol

  • scary my friend and my mom are all psychic and we all has a dream that we would be bombed..

theirs a terrior warning and we live in new york long island..scary

  • pshh if america is bombed everyone in the state or a couple of states will die a horrible death humans will destroy the earth we live on

  • If America is ever attacked with a nuclear bomb it will be the end of the world for everyone..

  • @Setenos There's been atom bomb attacks in other countries, and do you still see the world together? I think I do.

  • this was almost scary :S

  • haha even a newspaper can protect you

  • Of course, it will shelter you from the heat, the radiation(all newspapers are led lined) and it will stop the schock wave

  • wouldn the newspaper catch fire though o.O

  • wow!can this seriously happen?even in the US?how come it never happens?

  • the only thing that keeps us form dropping bombs is that other people can drop the bomb too and that doesnt work u will surely die anyways

  • thank you lucky stars it hasn't ~YET!

  • 4:37 lmao

  • OMG! my teacher showed us this in class! hahahahhahaha. that is so funny ,we were all laughing

  • LOL!!!

  • very cool!

  • LOL...very Fallout 3. It was very interesting to watch.

  • Produced by the only country that detonated to A-Bombs in hostile action.

and has continued to use nuclear devices in warfare in Iraq + Afghanistan

  • LOL that is funny, if you arent ready (hiding under your desk) you will get hurt! It will burn you like a sunburn... really is that it? Will i get a tan afterwards haha thanks for posting this!

  • very freightening

  • "Stay covered until the danger is over..." Hm...what's the half-life of atomic radiation?

  • And it's going to break windows all over town!

  • @l0gically verry verry long !!!!

  • duck and cover

we had to do this even in the 60s

    my god...how dumb it was

like our desks and hand would really protect us from a nuclear blast

  • people seriously had to do this?

  • duck and cover? absolutely

but i am in california, so they revamped it for earthquakes

  • Very interesting! Very cool! I like it :-) lol

  • Lol :P Strange hehe

  • this is very intersting.. good tips they should still show this in schools

  • Oh my goodness! This is a trip down memory lane! It is as scarey seeing it now as it was waaaaaay back in the '50s when we actually had to do this!

  • i hope that doesnt happen but if it does, IM READY!

  • Strange!! But still cool

  • yea this was strange but i actually liked it.
