@260830107 No, not really. The fears of atom bombs being dropped were very real back then, so to calm people down and try to curb paranoia, they made these films so they could sleep at night. Kind of like tornado preparedness videos... Same thing. I live in the heart of tornado alley, I've seen them all.... It makes a person feel better if they think they have some kind of chance for survival, thus, these films. A perfect example of "the Russians are coming" Red Dawn, a 1980's film

Everyone commenting here laughing about the use of newspapers for protection and duck and cover as measurements against radiation poisoning are IDIOTS. A little research into the subject you stupid citizens! Until the ban of lead from newspaper ink in 1985, newspapers were a good and cheap source for lead protection. Infact 1 inch of lead ink equals 6 inches of concrete cover in radiation protection. Also check your facts, there's Hiroshima survivors still living who were in a 2 miles range!

Last night, I had a dream that my country (The US) was attacked by the atom bomb, but the alarm was long, and there was no flash. Later in that dream, on the news, it said that the atom bomb alarm was set off by accident.
