  • Chet Atkins - played like a boss since 1950s

  • Are you Nicolas Cage? O.O

  • No you don't literally have to be a genius that's ridiculous - as far as I know he wasn't a member of Mensa !! This is not a difficult piece at all (though he plays it as only he could) !! And what do you mean get more credit ?? he is an absolute legend - do you mean he should have lived in Beverly Hills and driven a Ferrari and had his own reality show ?? Chet Atkins is widely recognised as one of the best finger pickers ever to grace the instrument and rightly so but you are mental : )

  • you have to literally be a genius to play something like this, keep that thumb alternating back and forth, almost impossible chords, picking with three fingers all at once, and keeping beat. this man deserves so much more credit than what he got.

  • God has the tabs, but he can't play it.

  • My grandmother was friends with Ernest Tubb. Whom Chet played with. Chet is a guitar master, he plays this in the true time and key. Thank you to Mr. Joplin. If this or Mr. Joplin's version doesnt make your heart soar, you should find where it lies. Thats all.

  • You can tell by the looks on his face he really loves what he does. True emotion. Playing beyond description of words.

  • Being a boss lvl. 9000

  • I wish i could play this on guitar. Maybe in another life time.

  • I am entertained.

  • 57 people didn't like his shirt.

  • @ignorantpom donnot listen

  • I have the same guitar as him! XD

  • Wonderfull guitarist Chet!!

  • Comment removed

  • just the shirt alone entertains me!!

  • Excellent performance!

  • his smile at the end is most intriguing.

  • I must have watched this video about 100 times in the past day now.

  • If this man wasn't the COOLEST most relaxed guitarist!

Crying babies, bombs, gunfire and fingernails on a chalkboard couldn't rattle him while he's playing!

    Truly one of the greats!

  • I WANT THAT SHIRT

  • its not fair to make it look that easy

  • Legendary....

  • 55 people are pricks who think computers make music

  • 54 people have no sense of entertainment

  • my father in his hey day played this note for note, but better because it was my dad.. one of the last songs recorded before he lost use of his hands..thanks for the memories chet!

  • Watching and listening to this makes it easy to understand why Chet was admired so much by other great players such as Mark Knopfler and Jeff Beck .

  • this brings back great memories for me, i played that song at my first music recital on piano, thank for bringing that memory back for me....

  • felix cat ad

  • Thumbs up for his shirt.

  • is great!!

  • Amazing - a true guitar legend

  • Beautiful !

  • Why would anyone dislike this? Even my eleven year old BRO loves this song! SPAM THOSE DISLIKERS!

  • Sounds so PEACEFUL. Like a sunsetting in the wilderness. Then chages to night to a very beat. THEN a beat of joy in the morning. Then afternoon calm ( like a picnic .) Then back to a sunset of the ending. remember to carpe diem!

  • genius ...

  • da's pas goe!!! gewoon da gevoel da erachter steekt, diene kerel speelt met hart en ziel!! goeie muziek!!

  • That is fucking awesome! I am a jazz guy and the work of Mr. Atkins is somewhat alien to me, but now these 2 minutes and 15 seconds of joy have given me a grate respect of him.

  • i feel like if i am Fonzy

  • Que grande!

  • this was awesome!

  • I didn't know Chet played nylon string too. Respect!

  • 52 people support an idea of good music that I strongly dislike.

  • I am entertained

  • The entertainer for easy piano! Everyone can play it now. woa

    OLC

  • 52 people dont know wat music is

  • This song i first heard the piano version in blackberry ringtones this is much better than the piano version in my opinion. but i like acoustic guitars A LOT.

  • TAAAAAAABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!1!1!!!

  • @JonathanBergerStyle figure it out by ear...

  • @Dazzerx I'd like to see you write down the tabs by listening..

  • @JonathanBergerStyle He plays A VERY simple melody, I can also see the chords he plays, and is also only 2:15 long, I could do this in hours, there's nothing difficult about it and tabs are for shmucks who will never progress tot he point they want to.

  • @Dazzerx yeah sure.. then do it, if you are so good ;P

  • @Dazzerx TABs can be a very useful learning tool for beginning guitarists or people who don't want to figure it out by ear for whatever reason such as if they are just a hobbyist or aren't quite at a level where playing it by ear is just not practical, people all learn at different paces dude, stop acting all high and mighty on the internet. Sure, I can understand that it doesn't seem that hard to someone like you or I but that's because I've been playing for years and you "sound" like you have

  • @TheEternalLeader I agree that they ARE useful, but still to play by ear is what any musician should strive to do, It's how you develop a real style, sense of rhythms, chord melody's, you can't get this from TAB, The ear is any musicians greatest tool, I'm not acting high and mighty either, I told some one to try and figure it out by ear, because they'll learn A LOT more from transcribing 10 seconds of a song than they would from tab.

  • @Dazzerx I understand what your saying but, again, people don't all work the same way. Some people may get great ideas from just dicking around on a guitar where other people may be trying to play a TAB and get ideas from it like if they noticed something by doing something like playing around with the notes on the TAB or accidentally goofing a part and so on. You could also study a TAB to learn what the artist may have been trying to do too, using your ear isn't the only way to do things.

  • @Dazzerx ..too. So we may think it's simple but there are others who just don't right now. Many great guitarists have also used TABs and they are famous so saying that only schmucks who will never progress to the point they want to is bull.

  • @TheEternalLeader I disagree, all the great legends learnt to play by ear, not tab.

  • @Dazzerx I almost missed this comment lol. Anyway, Firstly, It depends on the person as to who a great guitarist is. Secondly, Are people like you trying to say that TABs and Sheets are totally worthless and nobody should use them ? Could you explain why ? What if someone is just a hobbyist and doesn't want to play their own stuff and only do covers ? Wouldn't a TAB/Sheet be very useful in this situation then ?

  • @TheEternalLeader I can't really argue with your logic on that one, You're right, I do apologise.

  • @Dazzerx It's alright, we're all friends here right?

  • Cool!!

  • These videos are great...you can actually see the chord voicings clearly.

  • I like his unhurried take on this tune, which is how Joplin preferred that his music be played. Also, Chet is flat out great.

  • If you wan't to learn this song on the piano, there is an easy version available in my channel :)

  • nice suit buddy

  • damn his finger move all silky.

    he makes it look easy

  • legends of country guitar.?Must be me.I thought tis was jazz`.Oh well Chopin Yeeha.

  • I am entertained.

  • He plays two-part?

  • i like his suit

  • Johnny DeMarco can drink my arse, this version is better!

  • now that was 2:15 of my life well spent....

  • ...Did he just make The Entertainer sound truly beautiful?

  • He plays it different to how i do. I wish I could play this version, it sounds a lot better than mine. :(

  • Fantastic. Everything what Chet doesn't know, isn't worth knowing....

  • Scott joplin would probably love this

  • i think it's really boring compared to what it sounds like on a piano and this version is kind of mutilated too ... good guitar skills though of course

  • amazing!

  • he makes it look easy :(

  • I don't dislike, but if I did it would be because he plays with the tempo too much for a rag

  • It is impossible for 51 people to be entertained...

  • how can 51 people dislike this it does exactly what it says on the tin?

  • Though the commonly recognized version of this song invokes listeners with nostalgia and pep, I prefer this one, as it captures and expresses in sweet (and at times dutifully sad) the soul of those who attempt to entertain.

  • This is amazing.

  • sounds like mario brothers....

  • @maazaraza Sounds identical

  • If you can play like Chet you can wear that shirt, so you probably aint gonna be wearing that shirt.

  • holy chet!

  • A Majestic Performance! Beautiful!

  • Wow... He makes this look so easy

  • Nice shirt, Chet!

  • Hu Ha!!

  • Chet Atkins: he is better than you.

  • holy fishticks

  • 50 people dont deserve to entertained so their grounded :P

  • i was going to change this video (i was looking for a piano version) but i saw him enjoying that way and i decided to listen to it till the end. good choice

  • I love Scott Joplin as much as Chet Atkins, they were two great compositors and great players, even if they didn't play the same kind of music or the same instrument.

there're so much emotion in his playing, i just love it!

  • @Msaab92 nylon ... but he uses steel string guitars as well ... the nylon string guitars are often called "classical guitars" because the nylon strings give the guitars a great warm tone for classical style music and they are easy to bend which make playing in the classical style far easier

  • dodadodadoda hehehe i like ice cream trucks

  • can i like more than once?

if i could, i would like every hour

    please youtube....listen to our voice...

we want to vote like more than once!

  • This has 3,891 likes and only 51 dislikes, and still people choose to see the negative. Some people are trolls, other people just don't like the music, but NOTHING is liked by every single man who watches it, thats life, and you can choose to either accept it or live your life in perpetual agony. Your choice.

  • @Koolked96 good call sir!
