  • Beowulf really was awful. Anyone who has read the poem should be disgusted. The screwed up Grendel. Grendel's mother is also a terrible beast. She is not a naked Angelina. The motion capture is also horribly done.

  • Thanks,I'll just read The Hobbit again :)

  • People should watch Beowulf and Grendel, not the animated Beowulf.

And why are you only adressing the USA audience!?

  • Super Gay.

  • HATERS.. gonna hate :D

  • You... suck at this.

  • Also have to point out, Braveheart should not be toted for it's history as it in reality is horribly inaccurate, down to the kilts they wore (scots didn't wear kilts for at least another 2 centuries and at the time of Wallace they wore something actually more akin to what Steven the irishman wore.)

  • I love her shirt!

  • Beowulf was a horrific and terrible movie. If you really want to know the story, read the poem, it isn't excruciatingly long.

Also, to clear something up for non-Tolkienists (who stumbled upon this accidentally?), the Lord of the Rings isn't set in medieval times, and not 100% modeled after them, so it's not really a "medieval fantasy". But that's just me being a nerd. :D

  • You could also watch Willow! It's a fantasy/adventure film by George Lucas I think.

  • You just compared Braveheart to The Dark Crystal....facepalm

  • Beowulf and not Game of Thrones?

  • nice shirt

  • This bitch is retarded. Instead of watching movies, read some books for once.

  • Beowulf is an awful movie, doesn't follow the poem at all. In the poem, Beowulf doesn't give in to temptation, he kills Grendel's mother. But in the movie....he does god knows what with her. And, Peter Jackson is a great director. His career has not floundered. King Kong was no flop, that's for sure. District nine was great. Tintin looks great. The Lovely Bones...ehhh not bad, but still! That's a lot more than most can say, and definitely not "floundering"!

  • I like my method better:

Play Skyrim. Especially since a lot of these suggested movies kind of have arrows in their knees.

And read the LOTR since it takes more time. And read the Hobbit through a couple of times so I can compare and contrast as I watch and have something to complain about when it's all over, like I can complain about the lack of a barrow wight in the Fellowship of the Ring.

  • Well, i don't agree with her in everything, but still like her t-shirt :D

  • I heard this is shit.

  • Seriously? Peter Jackson's career has floundered? What's your point of reference? Sure he may not be prolific, but King Kong, District 9 and Tin Tin aren't exactly "floundering".

  • @grailchaser King Kong was a pretty big flop. He only produced District 9, but yes, Tintin is a worldwide hit. But Tintin does look on track to flop here in the US.

    - Grace

  • @BeyondTheTrailer - Ehhh... big flop, King Kong? Budget $207,000,000, Gross $550,517,357 in 2008. Is that a big flop?

  • @BeyondTheTrailer Producing is part of his career is it not? And king kong wasn't a big flop. It may have received mixed reviews but generally it has received very respectable ratings. And also made around 550 million at the box office. It seems like the US have horrible taste in film and TV anyway (not everyone of course). Although that's more of an opinion.

  • @BeyondTheTrailer : $550 million gross worldwide and an 84% rating on Rottentomatoes (79% from the top critics). Maybe you didn't care for it, and that's fine. But characterizing is as a flop is just silly.

  • @BeyondTheTrailer Do your research, Kong didn't meet the inflated expectations it had but still did "good" making over 200 million box office domestic. Also it was overall a critical success even though it had issues, some even considered it better then the original. Same goes for Tin Tin, 55 million domestic isn't really a 'flop', though the international success is true, and understandable, it's not as known in the US. PS I want that shirt

  • Kiwis can fly

  • Braveheart is one of the most historic inaccurate film ever made tied with U-571. It is a disgrace that Hollywood rewrites history and people believe it.

  • @englishredcoat

My favorite part of that fallacy is how watered down the torture was at the end. Go look up how the English actually killed Wallace....

  • @englishredcoat i agree although i enjoyed braveheart it is a great movie the battle over stirling (im sure i spelt it wrong) haha was over a bridge not a huuuuge wide open grass field. great movie but yes i agree with you they rewrote history quite a bit with that film.

  • @uafchris The exact same point I was going to make: While Braveheart is a very good movie, it bears very little historical fact about a guy who was more of a tyrant than people realise.

  • A whole year!?!? GOD DAMN IT

  • I want to see this sooo bad

  • i want your tshirt

  • LOVEEEEE the book. hope the movie lives up to the reputation.

  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy became the biggest & most successful franchise in New Line Cinema's 40 year history.

  • the lord of the rings was the greatest trilogy of all time. no question about it. and to hear peter jackson is at the helm of this is absolutely wonderful. there is no way this movie is going to disappoint. and i think peter jackson really has an authentic love for these movies. if you've seen every special feature on the extended editions like i have multiple times, it would be more than obvious to anyone he has an extraordinary respect and love for JRR Tolkien and the source material.

  • It's a bit of a leap to suggest that braveheart is an important part of history, it is at best very very loosely based on true events...

  • @Temelrav sure it's not close to what actually happened. but who cares, it's a great movie despite mel gibson's recent nuttyness

  • I just think I'll read the book again: >

  • LotR best movies ever

  • Haters Gonna Hate.

  • The best thing you can make befor seeng the movie is reading THE FRIKING BOOK!!!!

  • @CodedRhythmTalk u jelly? queer

  • Typical American.

  • I really want a Lord of the rings: War in the north movie or something..

  • @DanielPKristiansen War in the north is the game nd its addicting kinda similar to Skyrim

im still not done with it but its hella fun i would recommend it

  • It says beyond the trailer but wheres the hobbit trailer!?

  • Braveheart doesnt tell the true story of William Wallace, it tells a fictional anti-English Hollywood version. Its the most historically inaccurate and misleading film ever made.

  • @uafchris it was still better than gladiator that movie sucked its a little hard to make a movie about william walace without showing the english as the bad guys tho they where at war for hundreds of years i think its funy that the english thourght they had the stone of scone all those years and in reality it never left scotland theres some historical inacuracey whouldent wory tho thats hollywood for ya look at all the

teribal versions of robin hood or king aurther/ merlin :]

  • I love this series and this NEW Hobbit from Peter Jackson

he make SOOOO BIGG ,EEPPIC & AMAZING... makes me a goozz bumps watching the series movies, traliers & sound!

    CANT FUCKIN WAITTTT!

  • OOH I wanna huggle martin freeman!!!

  • Beowulf suckss. They totaly screwed the source material.

  • OMG Dark crystal FTW!!! :D

i didn't think anybody else KNEW that movie♥

  • Great a new lotr movie that rly made my day :D

Now grace do you know if they will make also silmarion a movie???

  • SEXY HAIRY DWARVES!

  • true and Braveheart in the same sentence! Read a book dick head!

  • Grace you forgot to mention the animation movie The Hobbit (1977?) which based on the same book... The Hobbit!

  • People may also want to watch "The Ring Of The Niblung". This was the Legend that inspired the Lord of the Rings.

  • brave heart was the most nonhistorically correct movie ive seen, they got it almost completly wrong, though good hollywood movie...

  • uh....hello? you DON'T remember the movie "willow"? a much better choice than fucking braveheart! think about it. small people living in a village. evil shows up. a few set out from the village to seek the world of the big people. monsters, sorcery, castles, magic! and you want to suggest braveheart, and the vikings. i understand the fight for freedom part, but willow is 100 times better choice. more similarities. so, in all, bad video, but very cute girl.

  • @thaiguysabu yes, i remember the work willow and it was a COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS with FORGETTABLE CHARACTERS!!!

  • @SocratesTheGadfly you are not very bright if you say that willow was a complete and utter failure.it was the very first film to feature morphing, and it was number one at the box office when it was released. a major influence on a lot of films. you simply hated it, and that's fine, but you really need to do your homework if you are going to jump in a comment battle. there's not one thing online about it being an utter failure. look it up genius.

  • @thaiguysabu well MISTER KNOW IT ALL, maybe we all should bow down and worship your worthless ass. willow was a movie that ABSOLUTELY SUCKED and the characters were absolutely unforgettable. as for it being number one at the box office, the movie chicago won an oscar and that movie SUCKED ALSO.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly GOOD POINT, but at least my worthless ass was right. chicago really did suck, so did titanic.

  • @thaiguysabu right about what? being a complete ASS? in that regards, i will agree, but nevertheless willow SUCKED and that is a FACT!!!

  • @SocratesTheGadfly wow, so you have nothing intelligent to say, huh? well, that is understandable. normally when some dipshit doesn't even have videos of his own to offer the world, he' usually pretty fucking stupid. enjoy your stupidty fuckwad.

  • Peter Jackson isn't doing The Hobbit for money, he has always loved Tolkien's worked and to bring it to life has been his dream. And I think that 300 and Troy would be amazing movies to watch until then, Orlando Bloom, who will be returning in The Hobbit as Legolas, is Paris, the Prince of Troy in Troy.

  • Thanks for the update/info on the HOBBIT. I've "heard" other rumors, but you seem to know what your talking about. So I will believe you and more than likely subscribe to follow other movie info you have in the future. Thanks!

  • YO GRACE! if you wanna show armitages badassery, recommend the original "strike back".

  • Braveheart doesn't tell the true story it's fiction loosely based on a true story, you should do your research...good film though.

  • trying to stave off our lotr lust? NEVER!

  • u r anoing!!!

  • Oohhh I am so going to check out North & South now!!! I loved Richard in Robin Hood...and I loved N&S with Patrick Swayze!

Thanks Grace! I really love this series of Countdown! Great suggestions!

  • How is the BBC so known in the US. I haven't got the foggiest about any programming on ABC or... I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT ANY OTHER CHANNELS

  • i wish she would shut up so I can finish masturbation

  • I agree with everything said here except about Beowulf, That movie raped the epic poem!

  • haters gonna hate

  • wow she is irritating

  • part 1 will be called an unexpected journey. part 2, there and back again. no matter if u read the book or saw the cartoon the movies will get the 2011 face lift with a younger cast and changes to story line. love or hate it its goning to happen theres no stoping it. but im sure they will rock lol

  • she has got to be the most annoying host ever. Only plus is she looks like Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

  • This movie may not be as good as the Lord of the rings because they are over connecting this movie to Lord of the rings. Gladeriel, Legolas, Saurman and Frodo are not in the book but they are in the movie. I will give it a chance anyway.

  • hobbit isnt a prequel. know your shit

  • @catman7825 Actually Hobbit is a prequel to the lord of the rings. I read the books.

  • @biguy617 Prequel is a made up word that means a sequel which contains events prior to later events that has already been published. The Hobbit was written first, thus it can't be a prequel. LotR is a Sequel of the Hobbit, regardless of which was filmed first. Prelude would be grammatically more correct to describe The Hobbit.

  • @catman7825 yes it is dumbshit

  • your shirt is bleached lol

  • hhahaaa

  • NOOOOOOO !!! where is the long beard on THORIN ???? and why only two have axes ???? and why look pretty ?? NOOOOOOO :(

  • I watched all 3 movies and they were AAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the 2nd and 3rd one are are in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.

  • i'll be re watching season one of game of thrones to keep me pumped for the hobbit

  • Hmm... funny she would mention George Lucas... I seem to recall that he too made three awesome films and then made some prequels...

  • Thought you might have recommended A Game of Thrones !! it's so Hot right now !!!!! (said in a Mugatu voice from Zoolander)

  • lol, Armitaaage ;).

  • You mis-pronounced Richard Armitage's surname.....come on, it's really not that difficult to get right

  • Rebeka is better than thus slut

  • first id like to say i am a huge lotr fan and peter jackson fan and like all of lotr fans here its one of very few favorites we admire, we are the opposite of harry potter fans harry potter may be kinda entertaining but nothing unique, we consider HP to be fantasy but not lotr, to us its the most realistic thing. all my life i hated fantasy and i never saw lotr until like 2007 but when i saw it everything else is shit. so its not about the fantasy its about the soul, yes it has a soul.

  • I was missing something on my subscription box.

I found your video and was like, "Yay!" There's something so comforting about your videos.

  • I like your shirt.

Believe me, it's the SHIRT I'm looking at..

  • Thank you so much for this episode! "Sherlock" is great!

  • Where did you get that shirt? It's beautiful!

  • I'd say the odyessy is also a good movie to watch waiting for the hobit

  • Grace, yes you must see the extended cuts. I bought the dvds w/o seeing them in theaters first. Whew, that was close. :) As for The Dark Crystal, have you heard that a sequel is planned? Gen & Kira are like Adam & Eve starting to repopulate the Gelflings & another adventure ensues. As much as I love Braveheart, I don't feel it falls under the same category. That's based on history, others are fantasy. Ever consider The Beastmaster (1) as a fun fantasy film? It spawned (bad) sequels & a series.

  • You forgot to mention Aidan Turner of Being Human (not the shit american version)

  • What about The Princess Bride only my favorite movie of all time.

  • Lol, we Scots still don't have independence XP

  • What would tide me over is some news that Robert Jordan's WHEEL OF TIME series is comming to the Big Screen^^

  • @nturtaneme It is!!!

  • @BeyondTheTrailer Grace, you're the best when it comes to talking about movies! Please respond back! It would really make my day if you did! :D

  • @CecenaGuy Responded! And thanks! :)

    - Grace

  • Forgot DRAGONSLAYER. Has the second greatest dragon ever!

  • The Dark Crystal is amazing !!!!!

  • grace, you're fucking gorgeous.

  • My advise. Read "The Hobbit" or watch the old cartoon version of it, or both. And I like how "The Dark Crystal" was included. Great movie.

  • I still don't understand why it's being done as two films. Sounds like a total money grab to me.

  • Dark Crystal FTW!

  • I am really excited!!!!!!!I read all the books!!and have been waiting on the movie ever since the lord of the rings!!!!!

  • My friends and I always have movie fests, twice we did Extended Lord of the Rings plus Star Wars, and another time we finished one of these journies with all of the Pirates of the Caribbean at the time. 24 hours of non-stop movies.

  • Uh...

    Wha...

    How...

    WILLOW!

It's a half-ling on a quest (protecting a destined baby) movie; much like the Hobbit!

  • I love lotr but i hate the dark crystal -_-

  • 6 haters gotta hate :P

  • No love for the animated Lord Of The Rings from 1978? OK, granted, it's slightly cheesy, but it if wasn't for that, I would have had no introduction to Tolkien. :) So, I'd add that to the list just for sentimental reasons. :)

    Cheers.

  • Hey Grace, the Haters shirt is my favorite in your arsenal. just sayin'!

  • Where is Game of Thrones?

  • What about Aidan Turner from being human? He's playing a dwarf as well :D

  • Beowulf was TERRIBLE. The Dark Crystal, that brings back memories. Braveheart, woot.

  • You're absolutely right, Sherlock is truly amazing !!

And just because I discovered Martin Freeman there, I might re-think watching Lord of the Rings +... and then The Hobbit :)

Thanks, Grace, very good movie byte once again :)

  • warner brother own rights to the movies they also make lord of the rings online game which is free to play i reccommend it for any one who interested in knowing more about middle earth.

  • Sorry to be picky here, Grace, but it would be really nice to hear Richard Armitage's name pronounced correctly - after all he has the same name with the same pronunciation as the former US Secretary of State and I don't remember anyone having a problem pronouncing that.

However I am a Tolkien fan and truly excited at the prospect of seeing more of Sir Peter Jackson's talents in The Hobbit and of course all the wonderful characters from the book, and for me, Thorin in particular!

  • OR play the battle for middle-earth and other LOTR games :D

  • Shouldn't there be 8 movie bits in each of the movie bytes? :P

  • I'm definitely going to see the hobbit when it comes out. The book was great.

Meanwhile i'm going to check out "The Vikings", i'm norwegian, and haven't seen it, so i'm curious to see what an american film from the 1950's shot in norway looks like.

  • Dark Crystal is freaking bad ass :D

  • Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D, Hobbit :D....

Yeaaaaah, that was what was running through my head endlessly as you were talking, Grace, all the way through...

    Haha, sorry.. :'}

  • I was born when the Braveheart win best picture :)

  • What about Eric the Viking, starring Tim Robbins? That movie is a fantasy style, quester type, and it's hilarious too.

  • No Grace I won't consider braveheart. God I hate that movie.

Anywho why would Armitage playing a hairy dwarf diminish my excitement. On the contrary... but I guess I'm no lady, so that fits. :D

  • The dark crystal is awesome :3

  • Wooohooo for Braveheart!

  • I have only seen bits and pieces of Braveheart.... may have to make a point of watching it from beginning to end (so I can cry like a wee baby). I've also not seen Beowulf.... "old fashioned" nudity.... hmmmmmm. All these are excellent suggestions. Thank you Grace!!!

  • what about game of thrones?

  • @8bitmagic

GoT is good, doubtless, but it is nothing massively special. All of the recommendations got there for being absolutely spectacular. GoT also is a -completely- different form of story to the Hobbit.

  • However unlike Lucas, the hobbit prequels won't suck.

  • Sherlock is brilliant - didn't start watching it until recently cos I was put off by the whole modernisation concept, but they do it perfectly. It's at least as enjoyable as the Downey Jnr movie and even though it's set in the modern world, I'd argue it's even more faithful to the source material.

  • FREEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOOOMM!!!!!!! omg Braveheart was epic!

  • lol, "when he was respected"

  • you mentioned " The Dark Crystal",

that was always one of my all-time favorite Jim Henson films,

it's rumored there is talk of a sequel in the works due to release sometime in 2012,

i'd greatly appreciate it if you could somehow look into more info on that for me =)

  • You could also watch the cartoon version of "The Hobbit" thats how I got into the whole series.

  • @ChromeyDaniels Right! I am really looking forward to the Peter Jackson film, but I don't know if it will ever replace that cartoon in my heart. They played it for us every year in school.

  • Dark Crystal is a fantastic movie. Oh the memories... God I feel old.

  • Great list of films but, I can't wait for The Hobbit movies!!!

  • You Could Also Try Dragon Slayer.

  • 1- the lider off the dwarfs doesnt look like a dwarf

2 - the extended edition is amazin, 12 hours off middle heart

3 - i hope someday the do "The Silmarillion", is the best and most complex history of the middle heart

4 - "freeeeddddooommmm" i saw it in a theater and by that time was hard to stand so much reality, the best moment of Mel Gibson

5 - Love you Grace, please give me a feedback

  • @r7diego Thanks for YOUR feedback! :) Maybe I'll rent the extended version sometime soon, as you and others are highly recommending it! I've only seen the original cuts in theaters.

    - Grace

  • @BeyondTheTrailer - thank you Grace, keep going, your rock

  • @r7diego if i remember my "The Hobbit" correctly, Oakenshield is a dwarf but of greater heritage and bloodline then of the other dwarves. He's taller as well in the book but I don't remember the premise to it.

Hhmm.. I think it had something to do with one of his ancestors, who was also larger and much stronger then other dwarves....

  • @ZeKe2300 - i didnt remember this, i read "The Hobbit" long time ago and some thing are fading from my memory, i´m more a fan from "The Silmarillion". Thanks for the quote, it will help me to acept this detail in the movie.

  • @r7diego so much reality? Braveheart is one of the most historically inaccurate films in movie history. Half the stuff never happened, it's basically fantasy.

  • @300warrior300 - reality in the war scenes, they were cruel and shocking like no other movie that has been seen before. Many people couldn't stend it and have to get out of the theaters.

And about the historical facts, they were accurate enough for a movie, no one go to a theather for a history class, is entertainment

  • @r7diego well personally I would like to be able to do the the theater for a history lesson, and I was for stuff like Schindler's list. However, Braveheart took it so far it no longer was history.

As for Peter Jacson's greed. I don't think it is greed that motivates him. For ages he didn't think it was a good idea to return to middle earth, and the wonderful del toro was at the helm. Only when Del Toro was forced to quit did Peter Jackson realise his sacred destiny!

    BTW I recommended Willow.

  • @300warrior300 - Peter Jacon's greed? what are you talking about? i think you confuse the coments tread, stop trolling

  • @r7diego lol, I'm talking about the video you complete idiot. 0.36

  • @300warrior300 - shut up troll, stop annoying you filth

  • I love the Dark Crystal!

  • Cry like a wee baby. You make me smile Grace!

  • @FoxyRiotMommy Hehe - it's true! That movie makes me cry every single time dammit! :)

    - Grace

  • Mel Gibson will forever be AWESOME!

  • good list Grace.

  • You forgot to mention the Lord of the Rings extras. That alone will take you 2 years to digest.

  • @mikegnome Hehe :)

    - Grace

  • 5 movies that'll last me a month come on grace you can do better XD.

  • I thought in terms of Fantasy Epic, Game of Thrones would be a good watch :)
