@charliesacoolkid If you will read the comments you will see why it is flying the stars and stripes but asside from that, it is my ship, and I am an American former Paratrooper so I get to fly what ever ensign I want.

We were flying the Yankee flag to lure the unsuspecting Yankee captain of the brig Syren into range and then take down his masts resulting in the capture of his ship and what crew were left. We POMEs know how to deceive at sea!!!!

You might check our latest fleet sail in Minnesota back in September and you will see that Surprise has shed her deception, hoisted the Union Jack, and engaged Syren at close range. Captain Jack

James--the cost my seem high but the reality is that it has more than paid for iteself in enjoyment of sailing without the high cost of a real ship. Spread over time it is not all that expensive.

I have sailed her on Lake Superior in northern Michigan. I hope to sail again in that area where the photos would not have land mass behind her. Maybe next year.
