noooo. wrong feeling. He plays it with a more aggressive anguish, rather than a melancholic sigh. A serenade shouldnt be to fraught and distressed.. at places he really bangs out the melody, and it needs more care than that.

i completely agree. maybe i should have said "in my opinion its completely the wrong feeling". Though tbf, some interpretations are categorically more 'correct' than others. As a clear example, you cant play the opening of beethoven 5, or the rachmaninov vocalise, in a happy joyful manner. The music itself, in most pieces, has a natural feeling about them.. if you understand me. Naturally there should be a feeling of triumph, beauty, and optimism in chopin etude op10 no1. Its the way it sounds.

... its the natural feeling for the piece. and so the natural feeling for this piece is less aggressive and more sorrowful - shown in the elongated triplets in the melody, the move to a semitone upwards, the emphatic melody which rises in its response to the first calling - regardless of opinions.

So what im saying is yes, there is no 'wrong feeling' in music because it is all down to the listener personally, but some interpretations are more sound than others.

I completely agree with you. The natural feeling of the piece is softer, more sorrowful. I personally think his style is a bit too aggressive also. I have always heard this piece as sorrowful. I personally think he could have changed his style just a bit, but he's very talented.

hm. i can play serenade by schubert,  but the music i learned from was three staves so i crossed my left hand over top of my right hand a lot....this man doesnt seem to do that.
