I must ask, WHY did joanna Bijsterfeld let it happen?? I would have gone on the run with my child, Anything to prevent them from taking her! She clearly underestimated the dark powers that be and her sociopath ex husband. I feel bad for her but she ought to have had a more pro active approach. Also, WHY is she still referring in parts to her husband instead of EX husband...

Joanna, you are an incredible strong and inspirational woman. I campaign against corruption in various areas of social life and it's wonderful to see people who know, as you say at the end of the interview, that looking for a way out is more important than wallowing in self-pity and fighting the system. Congratulations on getting where you are now and the very best of luck in re-uniting - permanently - with your daughter Maria.

@uranusskies (cont)...saying that he had custody of the child when he did not, and stating that Jo was a Canadian citizen, when she was not. This is the reason that the whole case was badly delt with, not to mention a number of other mistakes made by the courts that were just deleted from record, but we have the previous records with the errors in, thus proving the cover up of their mistakes.

@uranusskies... indeed there are many circumstances and many cases, but it is important not to super impose your experiences and pre conceptions on this case. Having come to know and understand some of the ex husband's background and connections, (which I can not disclose due to the risk of endangering any chances Jo has to have contact with her daughter), I am surprised that Joanna is even alive to tell the tale. Bottom line is, her husband lied on the initial charge application...

@Alflud, of course there is more to this story that has been told to us in private, with regards to the husband and his connections, and why this woman only wanted to protect herself and her daughter.

All too often we'll see it's a case of the woman just ups and does whatever the hell she wants with the children. Good to see that sometimes the courts do take into account that a man is just as likely to be heartbroken should his ex-wife take off halfway across the world with his children. I'm sure she is heartbroken but I'm also fairly sure, considering the abundance of women out there who do the very same and don't have charges laid against them, that this woman isn't telling the whole story.

@alflud all cases are different, to suggest each case has a "same old scenario" ring to it is narrow minded, do you not see a genuine, caring Mother when you you watch or see one, feel your instincts, this lady and her daughter are the victims of underhanded corruption of a court system that listens to a Father with many connections..

@uranusskies You'll have to forgive me for not believing everything I hear straight off the bat. In my experience when a woman has been wronged or even feels like she's been wronged she'll say and do whatever she can to paint the man as the evil horned devil while at the same time paint herself as the victimized saint. Far too often do men have to suffer the pain and hardship that this woman feels and I'm not denying that she feels that way. She obviously does. My main concern ....

@uranusskies .... is that even extremely powerful men with plenty of money and lots of connections do have their kids taken from them. In the vast majority of cases, even if there's no real proof that the man is bad for the children, this is the outcome. So in light of that I can't help but feel that there's more to this than meets the eye. The ex-husband must have had something to present to the courts in order for them to take his side in all of this.
