You say "It is obvious that this is not Corrie", but i agree with carrimacf that you should reword the title, this is not Corrie Ten Boom remembering, and it is misleading to say it is,,, very simple thing to fix!

I got drug to one of Ms. Hinds' performances several years back. Her imitation is actually pretty good and the part of the show where she's in character was actually enjoyable if a little hokey.

Unfortunately, that's not the whole show. A few minutes later Hind was on stage out of makeup and what followed was both bizarre and chilling. Apparently the takeaway from ten Boom's life is that we're supposed to worship the state of Israel and the Jews and kill as many Muslims as possible.

Just as in other groups, the Jewish people are not uniformly bad, and they not uniformly good. They are human beings like the rest of us.

Also, the video opening indicates that she died in 1983, and back then, I do not think there was a YouTube. I do not consider this tribute to be misleading at all.

Lou de Jong makes mention of them, a short note, and he adds a picture of the brothers; the picture was taken somewhere around 1943; you see them - kind of tough, broad shouldered farmers - together with clearly jewish children, held on shelter. When I am not mistaken, one of the brothers sneaked into the ghetto and smuggled jewish children out; their second name was: Boogaart or someting like Bogaert.

Not far from where Mrs. Tenboom lived, within 50 km, there lived another family, the brothers 'Boogaart', if I spell their name correct. They sheltered many jews, I believe hundreds. These guys were tough farmers, walking on wooden shoes. The old man, father Boogaart, went to the Germans and said: 'You persecute the Jews; therefore you will all perish.' I am positive, that Corrie never knew of them. I believe that all the Boogaart's were killed or perished. Hardly anybody knows their story.

Brother, this is where we differ and it may just be that your heart is so inclined (a burden for it). I have seen American Evangelicals try to assimilate ten Boom's testimony. Katheryn Koolman, Pat Robertson, John Hagee.... they only seem to be interested in the fact that she helped Jews during the war (which is good) but the Dutch Reformed Church of which she was a part held some doctrines contrary to ours as American Evangelicals. Corrie ten Boom helped PEOPLE, not Jews exclusively. If she is only remembered for helping the Jews then you have only a small part of her testimony. As far as preparing ourselves Kasper ten Boom once told Corrie " God gives us our ticket just before we get on the train". That is a profound statment, think about it before another of your fatalist rants.

Certainly God gives us the grace we need for trials when (and not before) we need it, but that should not keep us from using our brains (as Corrie did) to prepare to fight the evil.

If you will take the time to examine her story, you will see that they joined the resistance through Wilhelm only after the invasion. Good point. We are told in Ephesians 5 to "walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise." So we need to keep an eye out all around.

I do think, however, that antisemitism is a special case, simply because hatred against God's Chosen People keeps popping up in different disguises through history. Bible-believers are also commanded in Deut 25 to "remember Amalek." We are not being obedient if we forget.

She was also a millinealist and the notion of a secret rapture was not a part of her belief, nor was it embraced in the ten Boom household. The Ten Booms are some of my greatest modern heroes of the faith. Real honest to goodness Bible loving, Jewish honoring, willing to share in the sufferings of Christ, uncompromising Christians. I believe I will meet them someday in Heaven and tell them how they helped me to forgive the petty resentments I've had from time to time. They are an inspiring family.
