Yes, its the owners that cause problems with staffs and having then as status symbols and thats why so many staffs get destroyed every week. I know a lady who cant keep up with demand for staffs to be rehomed and she has a weekly trip with a one way ticket to the vets. breaks my heart as my two are soft as muck but with out discipline they would run riot. My definition of discipline is training and treat rewards and as we all know, they love their food. Maybe you misunderstood definition. .
love it how we staffy owners think the licking is awesome but anyone else who sees it thinks we are disgusting freaks- they dont know what theyre missing out on
She is a beauty...I have two, my older one doesnt do this as much as our pup, he licks ya constantly, he is only 3month old...as regards comment below every dog is different and the owner knows there dog best.
intense lickin is a sign of dominance u may think its lovin u have to kirb this as dog will think hes the pack leader i have 2 staffies kisses r ok but wot ur doin gives ur dogs sighns that they r the boss and as u know this breed needs firm handling not saying u will have probs but be aware!!!!!!
I'm sorry but I have to disagree, staffies do not need firm handling. I find that staffies never try to be pack leader like other dogs such as german shepards etc do. The main problems you find with staffies is aggression towards other dogs, very rarely domanance issues. Staffies are lush!!!
spot on, they don't! I've just fostered a Staffie (30 kilos) and he is the softest dog i've come accross. Never pulls when walking but can chew a massive bone in half. But it isn't anything to do with the breed - any dog can try to be pack leader if the owner isn't. Staffies, Gernam Shepards, pitbulls all have a bad reputation in the media because of one or two bad owners. Then chavs that have confidence issues get one to look 'hard', train them to be aggressive and the myth is perpetuated.
@BrunetteBarbie21 my staffy pup has a bad habit of trying to attack my neighbours 1yr old female (spayed) springer spaniel... He'll wag his tail but snarl and bite at her. Sometimes when he's hyper he'll do similar to my other neighbour's 5+yr old Labradors although they knock him back into shape for it lol.. Terrifies me incase he does damage when he's older but he's great on walks etc with other dogs =/
@Demonickitten666 Just keep socialising him and he'll learn how to behaviour around other dogs. You're doing great introducing him to other dogs now will she can't do much damamge. Staffies if brought up properly can be just as good with dogs as any other breed.
love ur staff :) mines just the same lol such a good breed.

Staffs need discipline and love in equal measures. My two would run riot if i wasnt firm with them. Dont let my bitch lick because she eats poo.
