Hey, I am thinking of getting a laptop that runs off of Ubuntu, and I was wondering if it's possible to run window's applications such as microsoft word on Ubuntu.
I started out using Red Hat 5.2 and have used linux for many years.I used Mandrake most of the time.Today I ran into two problems. One was a dependency problem and the other was a permission problems.I was able to solve both problems in minutes.
you cant play games...pffftt....dont be such a noob!
If you want to play any microsoft games or whatever just use WINE emulator and you got ¬¬...cmon admit it..Ubuntu got no limitations at this plus is 100% better than the crappy vista!
But my laptop hehe lol it's graphic card is... lol XD um... yah so LOL, so i cant play any major games on it... so yah this would be a great operation system for my laptop, plus it should be more stable than Ms lol haha. so yah XD NICE downloading it right now
Bullshit. Getdeb(.)net has a lot of cool games to download and install. Stuff like Alien Arena 2007 and Sauerbraten and UFO Alien Invasion and OpenArena. Plus the Ubuntu repositories have Tremulous and Frozen Bubble available for download. And Transgaming Cedega and Crossover Games lets you play Windows-based games on Linux (provided your hardware can handle it).
but it will never suport ALL of the games unless they change their codings to 100% ms which will not happens, and i hope that the games that u name are good because i was trying to find a game that is as great as crysis but for ubuntu, and one more thing since ur going for "free" linux i won't pay for crossover.
either way i suport games on linux and suport linux, i dont hate it, and u make me sounds like i hate the thing.
wth? i told u i use wine, and there are tons of ms programs i use that cant be run on wine, or atleast not all feature, like a gimped rock band version for wii. my autocad 2008 didn't work AT ALL. my counter strike didnt work, well it did but it lags way more than my vista partition i made just in case i didnt like ubuntu. but it's all good, i dont use my laptop as a gaming laptop, but for email and homework, so ubuntu is fine, i'm using it now lol. encouraging using ubuntu instead of mac tho.
