My brother purchased 1000 square feet of this for me to install in his basement. Will the cold floor be a hindrence to the glue strips? Will they bond well? I have reservations! I think I have to talk to him to carpet! Any thoughts will be welcome...Thanks in advance!
I also had very little waste but I ran it lengthwise - with the long way of the room and planned for little waste. Guess it depends on the room. I ordered an extra box to account for the recommended 10% waste factor but get to return it and I have 4 extra planks also.
@karunald You lucky dog. Ours still smess after all this time and we do not use the room. If it does not clear up in the next several years I am going to tear it out.
I installed this awesome flooring product in my home 3 years ago. Still looks great, and it's almost impossible to scuff or scratch. The unremarkable vinyl smell was quickly eliminated by mopping a few times with a light Pine-Sol solution. I prefer the blue kind. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. It is cost effective, easy to install, and virtually indestructable even with my 3 dogs and heavy foot traffic.
most other posting say to let it sit in tge room for 48hr to let it get to temp.
not sure you are doing it right also when you stared putting the flooring down there was trash everywhere may do better if glue does not get trash on it
I installed allure in our bathroom last summer. The odor was noticeable for several months. I noticed it when entering the room for some time. I am not sure when the odor dissipated, but it isn't a problem now.
By stinks, you mean it smells bad right? Have any of the edges tried to come up? We had a problem with the product Lowes sells with it coming up on the edges. Now considering the Allure Ultra product that snaps together. I wonder if the adhesive strips contribute to the smell??
@Angler180DC Yes it has a very sour odor other than that I have had no issues with edges and it looks and feels good. The adhesive could be part of it whatever the case it is unpleasent to walk into the room.
@noshoes This product is extremely toxic by off-gassing!!!; this WARNING should be FIRST!!
Read the experiences on this blog-ESPECIALLY THE MORE RECENT AT THE END: "Allure Flooring Stinks"! on Ottoblotto blog. Just google: "Allure Flooring Stinks"!
-- You forgot staggering the joints-at least 6 inches, for strength and asthetics- plus forgetting to clean the floor before installation to insure no small pieces are trapped underneath; as they would eventually would upward to the suface, creating little bumps in the floor- and eventually holes. -- also; more time could be taken during your instruction, dealing with the proper tool set-up ; and preparation. All in fairness - I give you a 6-out of 10.
@johnnyjtuber You are right It is not installed quite the way it is supposed to be. I wan to warn you as I mentioned the jury was out on the smell and I have to say it still stinks badly off and on I would not recommend this flooring because of the persistent toxic smell that it releases at random. I will probably rip it up in the near futrue if I can save enough money for tile. Should have gone with tile to begin with.
The flooring I put down needs no glue it is free floating and as long as it does not stink like mine did you sould be very pleased with it.

@noshoes I'm really thinking something else might be going on in that room? I just can't imagine - especially after this length of time?
