  • Standing Here - Stone Roses = Cloudburst - Oasis

  • I'm in heaven when you smile : )...

  • Having said all of that, the final Roses gig at Reading 1996(with an almost unrecognisable line-up)is not the way to remember a band of this importance.

  • Judging by what both John Squire and Ian Brown have said in various interviews it's not going to happen anyway. And then there's the small matter of the fact that Brown and Squire haven't spoken since 1996 and look unlikely to do so any time soon. They'd be terrible anyway - anyone heard Brown's live singing lately? To say that he sounds like a foghorn is being just too kind.

  • i'm standing here on the ground, the sky above won't fall down...

  • I couldn't agree more with 'StolenMonkey'.

Memories..........like the corners of my mind............

    With love

    Person from Manchester Engand

  • great song, something normal for mr Ian Brown

  • jesus am so high feeeeling it.. minnt track

  • someone probably already mentioned this, but doesn't Oasis' Cloudburst take from this melody?

  • Haven't listened to this for years, for such an early track it sounds like it could be on the Second Coming

  • I love the Roses, this is a masterpiece

  • thats the thing i loved about the roses..the intros.. they just grabbed you..god these were great times.. i wanna do them again.. minus the drugs... !!!!

  • CMON TELL ME PEOPLE,THE ROSES R ONLY SECOND TO THE BEATLES ONE LOVE

  • @86TERRYMAC i reckon they are better than the beatles

  • i love how mani pops up every couple of months with the smell of the band reforming haha

The are all great musicians who came togethr at the right time an that was then this is now.....unfortunatley we have to put up with Lady Gaga and kanye west in the charts instead of The Roses :( which in my opinion in soul destroying.

    :)

  • I always thought the Who were shit personally. Just sayin.

  • @ianbrownshairdo Peronally i think your comments shit, but each to their own, The Who are jut as influential as the Stones, The Beatles etc, Without these bands along with buffalo springfield and the Clash, we might never of had the Roses.

Respect the Past, The Future is ours!

  • @statician1 cunt off you dinosaur.

  • @ianbrownshairdo Nice to chat to someone with the mentality of a two year old, my little boy would put you to shame.

  • @statician1 mabye i could babysit him from time to time?

  • Purely triumphant!

  • definition of quality.. is the Roses doing this song... top tune... one of my fav Roses songs

  • the ending to this track is genius!

  • Nice use of the roses-brand. those guys rocked the world!

  • Class tune but nae as good as this is the one !!.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a pure example of classic song structure, but innovative at the same time. "...I don't think you think like I do, no matter how hard I try...", pure Stone Roses....priceless.

  • where is the full version of this song?

  • Proof positive that this very well may be the best rock band since the beatles and the stones - this was originally a throw-away, as was Fools Gold - we may never see a band in our lifetime do what the stone roses did back in the 90's - some of the best musicians to ever come out of England....

  • the origins of the brit-rock, pure genius!

  • my fav roses song

  • my most favourite stone roses song ever man, EXCELLENTY!

  • Never forgotten.........

  • the who were good, of course. but the stones literally blow them away, the roses could've only released 3 songs, + still could've merked the who. :)

  • Well its like this.....yes the stone roses are a really goo band...but just ask them if they were as good as The Who and they would laugh at you...The Who is past.present and future...no ones close blokes..and I am writing this from America...and I abslutely love englands gift of music

  • The beatles?

    Pink Floyd

    Led zeppelin?

Good song, shame about the outro

  • what ya talkin' about? the intro is cool

  • i hate the idea of the echelon of great classic rock bands--the beatles, the stones, the who, zeppelin, pink floyd, blah, blah, blah. americans, especially as encapsulated by rolling stone magazine, are enamored by this debilitating idea of the untouchable. the holiest of holies. the who's technical proficiency doesn't make up for the fact that they're a dully self-conscious band. regardless of what the roses would think, they blow them away in spirit, freshness and charm.

  • the rolling stones are better than the who, so are the beatles, led zeppelin aswell, don't get me wrong the who are good! but pete townsend isn't good enough!

  • Well i see you are an idiot...the stones?..beatles?...better than the Who?....ha ha...like ol P.T. said...a fool is born every minute....the Who has forgot more about music than these bands will ever know....but kudos to the Roses...a real good band

  • thanks, glad you are impressed!

    they are a great band!

  • When I insist to my friends that the Roses are the best rock band ever they say "but they only put out two records and the Who.....blah blah blah." I tell 'em that the B sides alone if ever put into an actual album would be better than any of the BEST albums any other band has ever released! STONE ROSES FOREVER!!

  • I think the problem is your average person (even dedicated music fans) haven't really listened to the Roses. They might of heard Fools Gold or She Bangs the Drums and a few others, but they're clueless about the vast amount of material the Roses put out. Plus they don't know the circumstances the band went through - the court case and being banned from recording at their peak. I doubt any other top band has ever had that!

  • Agreed.

  • ahhh q bien suenaaa

  • Remember the lemons for their teargas when the revoloution kicks off guys.

  • oasis cloudburst...ffs oasis originality in the bin.

  • i like the end of the tune,it dont seem to be on here..

  • what a tune

  • fuk me john squire, put that fuckin brush down and start playin fantastic songs like that again ... PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ba boom boom tishh

  • Reni is god

  • yh the roses should stay vintage icons reforming wouldnt do anything for em I like them to be retro gods its cooler that way

  • Sublime

  • The light burnt soooo bright but for such a short time, darned pity

  • bliss...pure bliss...

  • A band at their very peak, this should have been an A-side.

  • Every Stone Roses song should have been an A-side mate! Well, maybe So Young shouldn't have. Ironic eh?

  • sorry,that was well cheesey....!

  • am standin here,i really dont think u know that im in heaven when u ring.....lol

  • I agree with weecoby3

  • 2nd coming isn't a great album. They should try one more time.

  • Brilliant comment! :)

  • the very last thing they should do is reform . . . . leave it back in the early 1990's where it belongs and not let it become the sad cicrcus that was The Sex Pistols when they reformed . . . they would be a shadow of what they were . . .let them remain the iconic gods of a generation who can call them their own.

  • Right on the money brother...I'd go see 'em but you just know it'd be a bit sad in a way...

  • @StolenMonkey Were not all lucky enough to have been aged to see them back then so REFROM!

  • @AlistairMitchellMfc my m8 plaied at spike island wiv dem

  • @StolenMonkey well said

  • can someone tell me what it says around the paint hen you pause it at 0:17 THANKS!!!

  • It says Daddy Says Eat Dinner

  • What year did this song come out?

  • 1989

  • @suim2007 1989

  • what a gorgeous sound 1996. Manchester in the area

  • Glasgow Green 1990 - best gig ever people!

    Keep the faith!

  • fuck me look at reni at 2:49 its just a blur its that fast ha!

  • the best drummer ever, in the best band EVER

  • Drummers will drum till the end of fucking time and never even come close to how good Reni was ...the beating heart of, surely, one of the finest bands ever to grace this planet ...

  • best comment ever...Reni was the best drummer ever...as for the roses...well...best debut album of all time and there other early work was better than most bands do in 15 years if at all....Ian Brown is a also the musical genius with the least lyrical ability...absolute fucking genius and manchester legend.

  • A part of the cultural revolution for the generation Plus the last minute of this song.

  • those poppies at MTV or at their record company killed the song and the video taking out the second part of the song...

    :(

  • great song, great band, great music scene, great drugs, SHIT COMMENTS you lot all talk bollocks on here half the time

  • just wish they lived with me aaah! in my dreams

  • well let em talk bollocks silly arses. the roses will be with me till the day i die.

  • where's the rest of this song?

  • read the description

  • Roses best fucking ever , desert island disk i would have the roses on a sound system work rest and play in paradise , make island home brew and some herb and fire bliss

  • What a fuckin band... the Roses had the fuckin attitude, the look, the tunes to take over the planet. They didn't, but instead left one fuckin amazing album and load of other magic songs. They didn't become a fuckin laughing stock like Oasis or The Rolling Stones. Any of you stupid cunts hoping for a reunion are deluded out of your minds... Brown ain't ever going tarnish the memory of the Roses to make a quick buck.

  • second coming is beautiful. there must be something wrong with your ears.

  • yous all need to see ian brown live he is shit hot. he isthe first person i ever saw live aswell

  • lol it's sounds like Cloudburst by Oasis!

  • Classic song. The wailing guitar at the start sounds a bit like the opening of Rock n Roll Star by Oasis. I'd like to hear Squire play lead on a live version of that:)

  • Beatles,Zeppelin. It's all good but who they really remind me of the most is Pink Floyd. They've just got that mystery thing flowing like Floyd did. It's a wonder some rub-a-dub techno fook hasn't made a fake website just to shit talk people. You know, just to turn people off to The Stone Roses. They've been doing that to alot of U.K. bands from the 80's and 90's in the past few years.

  • What a tune ...

A band at their peak, feeling on top of the world. ..

    Sheer Class ......

  • this is what the stone roses' second album wouldve sounded like if it wasn't 5 years, too much coke and led zep obsession too late.

more funk, more groove, more melody... blissful harmonies, lyrics and excellent song craft

    just imagine...

  • Well, John Squire was the only one obesessed about Led Zeppelin (specially Jimmy Page). However, Second coming is a good album; not as great and revolutionary as the first one, but it is good anyway.

  • be-fucking-have. I am a manc.

All of them are good. But listen to elephant stone and the sun still shines.

and champagne supernova was gud but it was about a fuckin sugerbowl.

standing here was about a lover who passed away and he stayed with his girlfriend forever as a spirit. So myzeri (whos from mexico) Dont tell me how fuckin music was written....

  • shit i ment mahavishnu ha

  • dont take any shit from him. long live da roses

  • oh, FUCKIN'ELL! Without this post i'd have never guessed you were a manc, mancmanc123!....... Scousers all the way!!

  • I dont think Noel, Dicky, Morrissey or Lennon have done that bad really eh??

Its fuckin quality but steady on Mancmanc123 old son...

  • the outro is something very special, i would like to see noel gallagher, richard ashcroft, morrisey, or lennon write something like that...not a fuckin chance....

  • Yeah, and I would like to see Ian Brown 6 john Squire write something like "tomorrow Never Knows", "Beautiful mind", "Champagne Supernova" & "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out".

    Nevermind!

  • i have to agree with your comment about lennon, his standards where much higher.

  • This is one ov the best tune-a-rooneys eva

  • no end section? Fcuk that. One of the best pieces of music ever recorded that is.

  • Great song, especially the end section. Where is the end section, by the way?

  • Click "More info"

  • Radio edit!!!! The roses got hit hard when it came to playing thr tunes on tv or radio!! Always cut something off! Wankers!

  • immensi dio madonna

  • I should be save forever in your arms

  • what song are those lyrics from?mentions parking a juggonought in your eyes?let me know cheers

  • its a juggonaught in your mouth mate.

do you know when a bird is mouthy as fuck but you still think shes top, thats what it means.

    cheers.

  • john squire (guitar)

    made this clip himself.

  • fuckin groovy song.

  • rock and roll star sound like 'standing here' intro

  • Should have been saved as a single in 1990 wasted as a B side its too good a song

  • intro sounds like rock n roll star slowed down

  • why are the roses video's always so random

  • probably got to do with the amount of drugs they did lol

  • because one of the members is like a modern artist

  • The part that I always wait for when listening to this song- is not included on here- that beautifully tender part at the end.

  • Totally agree

  • minimal1975

please don't insult us mancs by saying he sounds like a brummy.

just because manchester brings the best music to your ears fact!

  • Was there not a bit at the end of this song 'I would be safe forever in your arms...' ????

  • yeah, probably cut it short though so it didnt go for too long on tv?

  • the first riff they do in the intro is wonderful tonight by eric clapton....

oasis stole the second riff for i will believe and the one drum beat in the middle of the song for live forever sounds like

  • also the melody is sort of close to cloudburst for oasis, so maybe they sort of drew off this song for that.

  • what's the aside of this, and what year did it come out stoneheads?

  • 1992 I believe, and it went with Elephant Stone 12" Mix

  • 1989. B side She Bangs the Drums.

  • potential here!

  • GREAT SONG

  • Oh now come on, it's plainly obvious that Ian Brown is from Birmingham, lol. He's got more money than yow for a start and that accents plainly Brummy lmao. Joke by the way before someone can't help themself and put something derrogatory to me.

  • holy motherfucking hell how could they be from anywhere else but fucking cardiff you can tell by ians caerphilly accent, you tagnuts!

  • No, you all got it wrong. The lead singer Johnny Johnson is from the north pole while the other guys are from the south pole.

  • Finally. It was time someone said the truth about the band.

  • 'Stone Roses are from England I think' LOL Christ On A Fuckin' Bike !!!!

  • Please...I know your American...but for the love of God get you music right. Stone Roses are from Manchester in England. Who the fuck are Ocean Blue ???

However their best song is about the River Mersey. Birkonian And Proud !

  • mersey paradise is good but no way there best track..are birkonians woolybacks?

  • No we're birkonians NOT Scousers = )

  • Sorry I got them mixed up with Ocean Blue

  • All these guys are from Pennsylvania.

  • What? Prove it then!

  • Could narrow it down more than that mate. They're actually from the south side of Philadelphia. David Geffen discovered them all singing round one of those burning tin cans that the homeless build fires in on a street corner one night and the rest is history.

  • Stone Roses are from England I think, but it is Ocean Blue thats from Philly.

  • One of my fav roses tunes love them

  • definitely one of their best b-sides. BIG shame the end of the song is cut off on the video.

  • ian brown LEGEND especially when saw him at the arena in manchester

  • The Stone Roses are the best band of all time.

    No exageration there at all.

  • word

  • what a fuckin band my favourite band of all time more chance of me winning lottery than them reforming even a 1 of gig

  • top class(dont forget to check out complete stone roses)

  • best fucking band ever wasnt even alive when they were on the scene but love them!!!!

  • Best B-side ever.

    Except maybe Where Angels Play...

  • best band ever but not known for great videos but saying that that this is prob best to date

  • crap without I COULD PARK A JUGGERNAUGHT IN YOUR MOUTH,thats a whisper not a shout

  • still mega!!

  • (L)

  • love it stone roses r the best indie band by far

  • indie? how dare you

  • yeh theyre indie... what would you call em? ...they just pre-date this bollocks they call indie nowadays which is not indie at all cos its not on an independent label, which is what indie meant... kaiser chiefs for fucks sake, s'just big label rocksploitation.

  • dance fool

  • itdoug, if this isn't indie. Then nothing is. Gess you missed some of your music classes... The Roses are one of the best bands ever. Unfortunatly there isn't to many real independent bands that get their chanse now a days. Or is ther anyone who will prove me wrong?

  • fuckin mega!!

  • Where's the rest of it? The fade out is the best part.

  • I agree completely

  • It´s hibrid between their debut album and The Second Coming.

Standing Here is a perfect Stone Roses pop song.

    It´s like Bye Bye Badman... it´s a pretty b-side.
