  • muscle junk

  • 350 rocket?...original headers?.....cheers

  • now you need to change the oil, give er a real good tune-up, bolt on a new carb, and put tons of money into her and she'll run like a top and won't give you any problems

  • sweet i just love old wagons exspecially ones like that

  • great stuff to show the kids how to drive like in the old days huh

  • just by the looks of it I wouldn't have thought it still runs

  • No not my yard. Just got my car out there.

  • whew... I hope that is not you that thinks the knocking is a really great sound ;) even my 455 video restart sounds TONS better :)

  • dont be a REV Mechanic!!!

  • dont gun a motor that been stiing for a long time

  • i've always heard that but, exactly why?

  • u need to leat the oil get up to the top of the engine to lub the lifters and rockers

  • i think its because the cam/lifters are oiled by splash from the crankshaft at higher rpms.

  • exactly!! thank you!! tainterlakeisgreen!!

  • I am fortunate enough to have the code '7' head engine in my wagon, which makes it. I figure, a late '71 or '72 engine. It goes very well, who knows when the points were looked at, I just drove it a few hundred miles before the body got done. Petronix conversion, headers, duals, and a 200-4R will step up the little 350 a bit more. I hope this one I see here will have a new lease on life as well. Easy to work on with no clip. Keep it up!

  • Hi there, Rockford, IL., here - - I have a 1969 Olds VC wagon, I pulled out the 400 cid cuz it needs a rebuild and dropped in a fresh 425 Olds - - burnout city! Did about 100 mph in a quarter mile with 700 lbs of people in the car. I need to buy a good fuel tank though - - anyone got one for sale? - hottrod

  • Id like to see a video of your Vista. This one originally had a 455 in it but that motor is now in 71 442. The motor in this video is a 77 350 from a 77 Cutlass.

  • I will be taking videos of it soon, I rebuilt the whole car including brakes 3 years ago, I have been looking for a gas tank for it, mine is rusted out at the bottom. We run it off a gallon can.

  • @hottrodscars haha i got one over here in nova scotia! coem and get it its free

  • Crank 'er UP!!!

  • I really like this kind of car!

  • That is a purely awesome car. What the ricer kids don't realize is that yeah, their car is fast, but can it seat 8 people comfortably? Plus, these things are visious fast too, if built.

  • We just dropped this 77 350 Olds in this car but the original 455 engine that came out of this Vista Cruiser is now in my 71 442 featured on some of our other videos. The 455 is bone stock with 180,000 miles. Thanks for subscribing.

  • No problem. Love the vids and want to see some more!!!

  • Yeeeeeeeeah' Haaaaaaww! She lives again!

  • Text translation: Beautyfull car, I would like to see a little more

  • Hermoso coche, lastima, me quede con ganas de ver un poco mas...

  • Cool. Your video is 4:55 long. Anybody else get that?

  • i would love to see that thing on the road!

  • Its slowly moving in that direction. Its my #4 of six Oldsmobiles I own so its on the back burner. One of three Vista Cruisers I currently own.

  • 1971 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser 3 seater model has a 77 Olds 350 engine. Originally a dark green car. Car once had a 455 engine which is now in a 71 Olds 442 featured on other videos at vistacruiser67.

  • Man, this one sounds good. Sounds like it's using most of it's 350 cubes compared to many others I've heard. Then when I saw it was a 1977 it surprised me even more. No wonder it looks just like the 1977 403 I had, same valve covers and all. Sounds good for what I'm assuming is stock single exhaust (maybe with some leaks, or blown muffler, LOL)????

  • Actually its two straight pipes with a crossover pipe that almost touch the existing exhaust at the back of the car which are dual glass packs. So its the combination of two straight pipes that are blowing some of the exhaust through the existing glass packs. What disappoints me here is clicking in that motor which sounds like a broken rocker arm. At least I hope thats all it is.

  • The video WOULD have to be 4:55 in length! ;-)

  • Good luck getting that Vista back on the road! I'm slowly restoring the third '69 Vista Cruiser that I've had since 1982.

Unfortunately, my Vista has rust issues and my home state of PA is an inspection state.

  • Are you saying in Penn they'll fail you on body rust that does not even affect major things like suspension? If yes, then I hope they don't fail you on the slightest bit of body rust. That would suck. I knew they've done this in parts of Europe for years, but I think I just learned something new about some states I did not wanna learn.

  • PA will fail for body rust that would potentially allow exhaust fumes to enter the passenger compartment, and my "secret compartment" (under the cargo floor) is Swiss cheese.

As recently as the 1980s, PA failed any rust hole larger than a quarter. Now, if it's jagged, it can be failed.

Look up "Pennsylvania inspection procedure" on Google. The first thing that comes up should be "067 Pa. Code ss 175.80". It's a great guide for keeping your car in top shape.

  • For usre, 1967PmdGto, I think Oregon (the state I reside in) has one of the most lenient car law systems in the country. I drive a 1972 VW Bus with a horrible exhaust leak and the right tallight cluster is totally out, but I haven't been pulled over for either of those yet. :D

  • Thanks for the state info. Ya, it's crazy isn'it, how these laws vary so much from state to state.

  • It is. I attempt to drive to Sacramento last year, and I come back with a glove box full of tickets. I got a pardon from them, though. It's kind of like driving into different countries!
