The only mods on that run were a tune an a K&N drop in filter. No launch control was used either. Compaines like MINEs and Amuse make circuit cars, not street cars.

@chrisdef15 Jap tuners suck at making street cars. I'll give you an example. Look at a Veilside supra with 650whp and a Titan motorsports built and tuned Supra. The Veilside Supra wouldn't focus on streetability and would make the car suck in everything but a corner. There is a video of a Veilside Supra and Veilside R-34 GT-R against a Mclaren F1. both the supra and the gtr did 12s and made 650whp. A Titan Supra would do low 10s with that kind of power. I'm just saying....
When the cars are built for the same thing and with similar specs there is going to be not much difference between veilside and Titan unless your talking top end drag cars.
And the youtube video your talking about is a bad example. Firstly its like 10 years old, its a damp track and the GTR atleast is running semi slick circuit tyres. 12's for the supra wasnt too bad and no a full weight titan supra wouldnt be much if any faster.

Also on the F1 stuff are you forgetting the F1 itself had about 600hp too but about 400kg (almost 25%) lighter. Low 12's is about right for a full weight supra with that much power.
And on your R35 stuff, again your looking at it like they are computers or something. There is alot of variables.
Better track, cooler day, better driver, lots of things can make a difference.
I do agree US is ahead in the development of R35, but you do have 2-3 times Japans population (and money too spend).
@chrisdef15 I own a Supra that makes 560whp on low boost and pump gas and do 11.1 @129 in the quarter On high boost I do low 10s with 787whp. That veilside Supra did a 12 second 1/4 (400m) and makes 90 more hp than my car. What I am trying to get at is that Japanese Tuners are WAYYY too conservative with their tunes. Focusing too much on horsepower and not enough on torque which will help you pull through almost anything. Don't get me wrong there are some good tuners like Top Secret. :)
In clips as old as that one, its 600hp+ at the engine. They just used to work out the drivetrain loss% and then add it back onto power at wheels.
The GTR has 2540's and the supra has TD06's both of which only flow just over 300hp each meaning wouldnt be able to make much more then 700hp at engine if really pushed. So 680 for the supra at engine would be right.
And your forgetting the damp track plus proper drag strips also get caked in rubber or are VHT coated and alot stickier. Unlike this.
The point I am really getting at is that an American tuner will get the same results for cheaper in relation to a Japanese tuner. Its not so much geography its more so culture. There seems to be a lot more thinking outside of the box with American tuners. The idea of a nitrous shot for spooling up turbos is an American Invention. Bottom line is the Japanese pioneered tuning and we improved on it.
Cheaper maybe but not better. And thats mainly because of the price of shipping parts.
Here in Aus its generally cheaper to use a jap turbo kit then make one as by the time you add up all the parts it very similar.
Look when it comes to drag cars i do agree you have taken over Japan (but so have we really) but when it comes to building street based circuit cars and all the fiddly bits involved they still have it all over you.
Good point. Don't discount the US to just making imports drag cars. We have some really impressive time attack cars that are incredible on the road course. AMS and Buschur have been doing really well with time attack Evos. I'm not too familiar with many of the tuners for Nissans other than Stillen but I know 350/370zs and s14s do really good as well.
The difference is a stock zr1 costs $120,000 and this gtr at $80,000 + the aftermarket turbos is still less expensive and will murder the zr1. Besides that, who wants to drive a car owned by G.M.C... Government Motor Corporation. :-)

Well, prices may vary depending on dealership and CONTINENT.
In America, when they both came out gtr's cost 75-80k, and zr1's cost 105-115k. I haven't checked for months so I won't quote current prices, but I doubt they will be much different in comparison to each other.
The difference is you can throw some slicks on a stock ZR1 and do that all day and all night long and drive home, not have to be towed back to the Nissin dealer. :-P
Stock ZR1 straight off the showroom floor is pretty stock to me. Look up Jamie Furman, Racern and Ranger (granted he had a different tyres) before embarrassing yourself even more.
theres a lot better choices of cars to supercharge to beat a gtr on a drag strip that are a lot cheaper than a m3. point is, gtr will keep up on the strip and rape on the track.
actually they do, but it is kind of complicated. you have to turn off the tc and the next switch over, then you put it in first and put your left foot on the brake and right on the gas and build the revs. when you let your foot off the brake you get your 10 second quarter mile.

After over 100+ launches of 600+whp, Samurai Speed finally found the limits of the GT-R's transmission! The gearbox snapped like a twig on launch.

i am not a gtr hater,but it is true that people are getting there warranties invalidated for using launch control. a tech in front range area said the cases flex and cause meshing and other failures..but some drivers are not even using the feature and still getting a void when there tranny goes out..even at less than 2000 miles..
It is because of hate for this car why this rumor is around... you abuse ANY dual clutch transmission and your warranty will get voided... not just because its Nissan trying to rip you off.
Very nice run, but I can't help but wonder how long the transmission is going to last.
If Nissan voids the warranty using launch control on a stock setup just once, clearly it wasnt built all that strong. I dont think it can handle any additional power for a signifigant length of time. AWD transmissions take serious beatings out of the hole as is so this extra power is going to be risky. I predict that after another dozen or so 1/4 mile runs using LC, things are going to start breaking.
Nissan does not void the warranty if you use launch control. That's a MYTH. If you abuse LC, and you break your tranny, Nissan will not pay to replace it. But at no time is your warranty voided. The weakness of the tranny has been blown out of proportion. The few breaks are from those that did many launches in a row. The tranny gets overheated and the gearboxes breaks. Our car with over 600whp has over 100 launches on it and no problems. We properly warm up & cool down between launches.
Vw's and bmw's dual clutch trannys can handle it and the only thing that wears are the flywheels and clutchs but with the GT-Rs tranny it wears the transfercase and gears when you use launch control.

there's a ZR1 on dragtimes, stock, that ran a 10.7 - not sure about the tires.
the gtr is a sick ride, 4 seats and lots of power. tuned by switzer and they're monsters.

The difference is a stock zr1 costs $120,000 and this gtr at $80,000 + the aftermarket turbos is still less expensive and will murder the zr1. Besides that, who wants to drive a car owned by G.M.C... Government Motor Corporation. :-)

and the ZR1 ran a 10.8´s on slicks STOCK look it up

Well, prices may vary depending on dealership and CONTINENT.
In America, when they both came out gtr's cost 75-80k, and zr1's cost 105-115k. I haven't checked for months so I won't quote current prices, but I doubt they will be much different in comparison to each other.

actually they do, but it is kind of complicated. you have to turn off the tc and the next switch over, then you put it in first and put your left foot on the brake and right on the gas and build the revs. when you let your foot off the brake you get your 10 second quarter mile.

There are 3 corvette trim levels. (Base, Z06, and ZR1) Next, the Z06 can run a 10.85 STOCK with drag radials at 129.5 given a driver with tons of skill. The car in this video is NOT stock. It has 634hp and 746lbft. of torque. Drag race stock for stock, Z06 undeniably has the edge.

not really, theres a few videos out on the drag strip, "Nissan GTR vs Corvette Z06" and both cars are stock. Clearly the GTR wins on the track. Don't forget there are as well 3 trim levels for the GTR too...(BASE, V-Spec, Evo-Spec) and prolly R35 Nur SpecII. Basically the Base R35 is just the beginning, we'll see what the V-Spec will do..

Clearly you don't know what you are talking about. The z06 has a 7.0L 427ci 505hp naturally aspirated motor. The zr1 has a 6.2L supercharged motor making 638hp. Both motors are built from the factory with that power, so with that said it IS A STOCK MOTOR. Sorry but the stock zr1 still beat the v-spec's time around the nurburgring and so did the viper. I am import fan myself, and I love the cars Nissan produces, but I can't stand biased people talking about stuff they know nothing about.

* We're actually HAPPY that we finally found its limits. We knew it was only a matter of time and needed to upgrade the tranny to be able to take the car to the next power level (700...800...900HP and beyond.)

i am not a gtr hater,but it is true that people are getting there warranties invalidated for using launch control. a tech in front range area said the cases flex and cause meshing and other failures..but some drivers are not even using the feature and still getting a void when there tranny goes out..even at less than 2000 miles..

Very nice run, but I can't help but wonder how long the transmission is going to last.
If Nissan voids the warranty using launch control on a stock setup just once, clearly it wasnt built all that strong. I dont think it can handle any additional power for a signifigant length of time. AWD transmissions take serious beatings out of the hole as is so this extra power is going to be risky. I predict that after another dozen or so 1/4 mile runs using LC, things are going to start breaking.

Nissan does not void the warranty if you use launch control. That's a MYTH. If you abuse LC, and you break your tranny, Nissan will not pay to replace it. But at no time is your warranty voided. The weakness of the tranny has been blown out of proportion. The few breaks are from those that did many launches in a row. The tranny gets overheated and the gearboxes breaks. Our car with over 600whp has over 100 launches on it and no problems. We properly warm up & cool down between launches.

Vw's and bmw's dual clutch trannys can handle it and the only thing that wears are the flywheels and clutchs but with the GT-Rs tranny it wears the transfercase and gears when you use launch control.
