I have a male guppy that looks almost exactly like yours and both my females are red tailed with blonde bodies, will any of the fry have tails like the dad? When the male and female are different do the fry turn out different like some like the mom and some like the dad or will they all have both colors or be one color or the other? That may be a crazy question but I can't really find a good website that explains the genetics.

@will20091995 well ask wherever you buy the fish from , if guppies are compatible with silver sharks and other types of fish , because they might eat each other :)
@EmoRylee366 well in general they start to emerge with little dots of color on the tail... small pigments of color are found on their tails around week 7 to 10 depending on their growth spurt and what you feed them! good luck..! feel free to ask questions! :)
@superfish99 thank you. they are now at least two weeks old now, only had six and some have dots of black. one has an all black tail. i just released them into the adult tank today, and i don't see them right now since they are in the rocks. I hope i can see them soon when they get bigger.

hey so wat i did is i took the normal flake food that you give o tropical fish like guppies and neons... and you crumble like a good amount of it in a small bowl to a point were the flake food is like powder or the size of a grain of sand... then you one small pinch of that and put it in with them... repeat this feeding process at least 4 times in the day or more depending if they look hungry!! have fun and please ask if you have anymore questions!...
U left them in the breeder for a pretty long time, i would have released them at 4 weeks, once they get bigger they get more stressed in that small breeder thing
@titsandcheese it was prolly from a different batch ,and you just never notice him i have had plenty of guppies that i didnt even realize had babies and found fry. Lol . or he might be the alfa male of them and eat a lot of there food, just try and feed quite a bit and throw in some algae wafers that is always a treat all your fish will enjoy. hope this helps..
@titsandcheese mine too... one of my guppy fry is 4 times smaller than the others. I think this is about dominance, the alpha fry gets more food because the alpha rules. But once a fry is weak, it'll get bullied by the others and ended getting inly a very few of food and it won't grow up... Still small. Your giant fry is probably the most dominant fry.....

@TheDogh8ter Hey, female guppies can eat their fry sometimes one or a few but is pretty rare!... and other female guppies can possibly take interest and eat the whole batch!!!... but i mean after my second birth with my female she gave birth to about 10 and i left them in the tank and not in the breeder cage and they were doing just fine even with the tetras and the algae eater (plecostumus)... good luck! have fun!...
i have those female guppie! she had over 30 babies. and the babies's father is a orangeish with black, almost same to tiger color. but more yellow, white, orange.

my baby gupps are like pre teens that some dont have color but some do and i had them in a seperator like your were doing and ummm the adults died in my moms tank because i put them there and took them out of the seperator to get more exersise

Normally the adult male guppies will do no harm to the fry...But some females can eat one or two babies but it is rare but possible. the babies always stay near the bottom of the tank and if you are patient enough put the net in the water and find one they are always near the bttom and swim slowly when they are not menaced.. the babies in the breeder cage actually were born in the tank and i caught them in the net and put them in the breeder cage. just try a bit. if you have questions please ask

yes that would work and avoid a round fish bowl because it distorts the fishes eyes! more like a rectangular form! and when catching the fry in a net be careful to not hurt them as for they can be damaged and when dropping them into the bag they will stick to the net! good luck and feel free to ask me questions!!!! ttyl!.
yes normally they are very smart but i haveseen my female eat one of her babies.... normally they stay near the bottom of the tank and in the calmest area but when you feed your adult fish they will come out to try to catch the small pieces.... once they are born take some flake foos and crush it up to the point that it is almost powder.... then if u have a breeder cage drop a small pinch every 5 to 6 hours or earlier... and if fry are in the tank do the same thing but a bit more bcause the flow

Nope it is not the size of the tank.. A six gallon is perfecta actually compared to my little breeder cage... i think you are not feeding them enough... what i did was take a small bowl and take 5 big pinches of flake food and crunch them into very small particles not to dust but more like the size of crushed pepper and i would feed them 4 to 5 times a day just a pinch of the food every 3 to 4 hours depending..
they need food often to grow... also check the pH with the special tabs... good luck!
seperarting the sexes will prevent the females from having more fry the same thing happened to me i had more babies after the first ones... lol it was pretty funny.....!

hoe did you get them to stay in that breeding unite coz my babeys keep on falling throgh the holes on the botom so i had to put them in a bucket ya how long can i leave them in the buket for
you canlleave them for 30 minutes depndeing on the temp! if you buy an aquarium heater for them to stay comfortable it should work!..... goood luck and if you have any more questions ask them to me!....
yes they love chocolate. you can also get them out and take them for a walk. make sure they have a lead or the ranger will get you. they also love to swim in petrol on a cold day, it helps warm them up lol
hey well the female guppy in my movie at the beginning had her babies and as u can see she has a black spot underneath her... that is called the gravid spot. The gravid spot if black means that she pregnant. some female guppies when they are not pregnant have there gravid spot a little bit tan or brown. also the female gets bigger near the stomach. when she gives birth she could give birth to 20oe more or to 1baby. and the baby or babies come out in spurts pretty quickly... ttyl!.......
hey! well with the right water conditions a guppy can thrive within 13 to 16 weeks, around there... do not over feed the fry. if u can, take ur foood,flake foood if u have it, and with ur fingers in a small bowl crunch some flake foooood into a fine powder, that way it is easier to for the fry to eat. hi, well i have a 12 gallon and at 1 point in time with my baby guppies and my adult guppies i had at least 30 to 40! i know this is way 2 much that is y i had to give some of the adults to the pet store. But a MAXIMUM for a 10 gallon tank and keep it safe for all the fish would be around 15 guppies (around that number) since they are not as bad as other fish when it comes to poop and stuff. if u have any more questions i am here to ans them and check out some of my other vids with live plants
they have to be big enough so they can't fit inside the bigger fish's mouth. everyone cares for their fry differently so the fry will grow at a different rate so i wouldn't rely on a certain number (age) of the fry to determine that. But usually by 5 or 6 weeks they can swim with the adults.
at least 6 to 9 weeks roughly> when u let them out of the breeder cage or net with the big community fish, some of the others may pose interest in them but they get there way around the tank... i always watched their progress and within 2 days i did not have to worry any more! ttyl!
my guppy is 10 weeks old ( 84 days ) but she really doesnt fit inside the platies , swordtails , mollies , zebras , mouth but i have gold fish in the tank ps none of the other fish bother the gold fish are ok but im scared that the guppy still might fit inside the fish mouth the guppy is almost the same size as the zebra fish but is a litle skinnier than them do you think i should wait a little longer and the guppy has his colors
what i woooood do is let him with the other fish! just watch him for the first few hours and days! when you feed your fish make sure he might get a few pieces here and there!
i think those goldfish will leave him!...
also i did this and even when a fish chased after one of baby guppies the baby just swam as fast as he could to safety!
Hello my guppies are 1 month old from today =] i have them in a little attacher net that attached to the top of my tank and there is about 4-5 inches of water for them to swim... i noticed alot of algae in the net and was wondering if it would be smart and safe to put in a algae eater. i have some in my tank i have a chinese algaer eater that is 4 inches and 2 albino cory cats that are 2 inches long can i put one of those in or should i maybe put in some snails?
hi regarding the gupies clean the net but but them in a little bowl while you clean the breeder net then once finished put them back in the net with the other fish> for the other fish they should be fine if they are bigger then the CHINESE algae eater!!!! I used to have a chiese algae eater and it kiled off all my other fish like the fish at 3:13 and many others so i do not think that algae eater is good for u because i had a very bad experience with them but keep ur gups in the net till bigger!

cool my sister wanted one but i wasnt too sure for a 12 gallon aquarium and do u think it should be fine with maybe a little bit more freinds loach like a kuhli loach and maybe some of its own kind!?
How big aquarium do you have and how many fishes do you have? :) I have a 28l aquarium whit some tetras, platys, corydoras, swordtails and a shrimp :) I love having a aquarium and I'm soon gonna get a 220l
hey well right now i have a nano cube dx 12 and it contains 12 GALLONS and i have 4 neon tetras,3 red eye tetras, 2 red tail sharks (just got them) a yellow mollie, a pleco and a kuhli loach. damn a 220 litre is pretty big that sounds like fun! lol
hey well i wondered that too and i asked my local fish store and they said i could take normal flake food and take a small bowl (like for an ice cream scoop) and you take the food and you crush i and the food in between your fingers till its a very fine powder for the babies to eat and you just keep repeating this over and over for nice powdered food that way the babies can eat it!

p.s. got a question, will guppies survive winter without a heater but a strong lighting with temp of 20-25 celcius?....i cant buy heater yet its too expensive at my local store...what would you recomend if i dont have a heater yet?
yeah it should would work so does the metal mesh have holes abot a squre cm or bigger?? i would just buy a breeder thingy becaause it s easy to use and also you can use it for a sickm fish or an injured one!! also maybe instead of a metal mesh that may rust overtime and also u can use plastic mesh that should work too !!! if u have any more questions feel free to ask>>>>>

hey well it takes about 5 to 6 sometimes even 8 but u get little black colors first on the tail and then the color pigment comes out in the 8th or 9th week but it depends too on the food water quality etc... if u have anymore questions please ask me

you canlleave them for 30 minutes depndeing on the temp! if you buy an aquarium heater for them to stay comfortable it should work!..... goood luck and if you have any more questions ask them to me!....

yes they love chocolate. you can also get them out and take them for a walk. make sure they have a lead or the ranger will get you. they also love to swim in petrol on a cold day, it helps warm them up lol

hey well the female guppy in my movie at the beginning had her babies and as u can see she has a black spot underneath her... that is called the gravid spot. The gravid spot if black means that she pregnant. some female guppies when they are not pregnant have there gravid spot a little bit tan or brown. also the female gets bigger near the stomach. when she gives birth she could give birth to 20oe more or to 1baby. and the baby or babies come out in spurts pretty quickly... ttyl!.......

hey! well with the right water conditions a guppy can thrive within 13 to 16 weeks, around there... do not over feed the fry. if u can, take ur foood,flake foood if u have it, and with ur fingers in a small bowl crunch some flake foooood into a fine powder, that way it is easier to for the fry to eat. Repeat this until he or she is adult and once you can make out that the guppy is an adult, start giving it normal flake food! Good UCK, and have fun with that one Baby Gupppppy

hi, well i have a 12 gallon and at 1 point in time with my baby guppies and my adult guppies i had at least 30 to 40! i know this is way 2 much that is y i had to give some of the adults to the pet store. But a MAXIMUM for a 10 gallon tank and keep it safe for all the fish would be around 15 guppies (around that number) since they are not as bad as other fish when it comes to poop and stuff. if u have any more questions i am here to ans them and check out some of my other vids with live plants

they have to be big enough so they can't fit inside the bigger fish's mouth. everyone cares for their fry differently so the fry will grow at a different rate so i wouldn't rely on a certain number (age) of the fry to determine that. But usually by 5 or 6 weeks they can swim with the adults.

at least 6 to 9 weeks roughly> when u let them out of the breeder cage or net with the big community fish, some of the others may pose interest in them but they get there way around the tank... i always watched their progress and within 2 days i did not have to worry any more! ttyl!

my guppy is 10 weeks old ( 84 days ) but she really doesnt fit inside the platies , swordtails , mollies , zebras , mouth but i have gold fish in the tank ps none of the other fish bother the gold fish are ok but im scared that the guppy still might fit inside the fish mouth the guppy is almost the same size as the zebra fish but is a litle skinnier than them do you think i should wait a little longer and the guppy has his colors

what i woooood do is let him with the other fish! just watch him for the first few hours and days! when you feed your fish make sure he might get a few pieces here and there!
i think those goldfish will leave him!...
also i did this and even when a fish chased after one of baby guppies the baby just swam as fast as he could to safety!
it should work just fine if he has colors!

Hello my guppies are 1 month old from today =] i have them in a little attacher net that attached to the top of my tank and there is about 4-5 inches of water for them to swim... i noticed alot of algae in the net and was wondering if it would be smart and safe to put in a algae eater. i have some in my tank i have a chinese algaer eater that is 4 inches and 2 albino cory cats that are 2 inches long can i put one of those in or should i maybe put in some snails?

hi regarding the gupies clean the net but but them in a little bowl while you clean the breeder net then once finished put them back in the net with the other fish> for the other fish they should be fine if they are bigger then the CHINESE algae eater!!!! I used to have a chiese algae eater and it kiled off all my other fish like the fish at 3:13 and many others so i do not think that algae eater is good for u because i had a very bad experience with them but keep ur gups in the net till bigger!

How big aquarium do you have and how many fishes do you have? :) I have a 28l aquarium whit some tetras, platys, corydoras, swordtails and a shrimp :) I love having a aquarium and I'm soon gonna get a 220l

hey well right now i have a nano cube dx 12 and it contains 12 GALLONS and i have 4 neon tetras,3 red eye tetras, 2 red tail sharks (just got them) a yellow mollie, a pleco and a kuhli loach. damn a 220 litre is pretty big that sounds like fun! lol

hey well i wondered that too and i asked my local fish store and they said i could take normal flake food and take a small bowl (like for an ice cream scoop) and you take the food and you crush i and the food in between your fingers till its a very fine powder for the babies to eat and you just keep repeating this over and over for nice powdered food that way the babies can eat it!

yeah it should would work so does the metal mesh have holes abot a squre cm or bigger?? i would just buy a breeder thingy becaause it s easy to use and also you can use it for a sickm fish or an injured one!! also maybe instead of a metal mesh that may rust overtime and also u can use plastic mesh that should work too !!! if u have any more questions feel free to ask>>>>>

hi well u met the right guy most mother guppies do not eat their fry but if they do u seperate the babies and put them in a breeder box to keep them safe from the mom. normally to have babies you need on male for 2 oe three females he will take the one he wants and follow her everywhere as u see in my video also when the female is pregnant u will see a gravid spot you see my female has a little black spot beneath her bottom fin!!! the babies come out alive too>

well that can be fine normally male guppies don't fight between each other but i think that would be fine hopefully the two male guppies wo'nt follow the same female leaving the one female by herself which she ll be fine>it alll depends how u want it because guppies are the easiest fish to breed so dont worry all you have to do it put the male and female and let nature o the rest also it may take awhile for the baby guppies to come out> if u want to know if she is pregnant, the gravid spot

hey again my tabk is a 12 gallon nano cube dx its really nice and is perfect comes with all the filtering stuff except for the heater and gravel ..... i got the breeder box or cage at petco but u can probably get it at a aquarium store >>> also u can look it p on the internet there are several types!!! feel free to ask me anymore questions !!!!

hey well it takes about 5 to 6 sometimes even 8 but u get little black colors first on the tail and then the color pigment comes out in the 8th or 9th week but it depends too on the food water quality etc... if u have anymore questions please ask me
