It's really something else to see Dave Weckl play drums. Of course he sounds great, but he plays with such a calm, confident style - like he's not really trying that hard. Very inspiring.

@slashdelbarrio Its some sort of a special dampener he developed with remo that supposed to muffle the head in a special way... I think it suposed to jump off the head on every stroke which lets the drum keep its resonance...

Mr. Weckl, what can we mortals say... I listen to Dave from 1998 when I was in College. It is amazing to see how he is always developing new things. Now of late latin rhythms like crazy! I hear a bit of Antonio Sanchez and Dafnis Pietro in there a bit! Dave inspire lots o people to see what is possible...

it is a BIRCH CUSTOM ABSOLUTE, and he didn´t change his usually way to install the drums, and he is still using his signature snare, he played in that drums just for the interview
