Ease up on the hate, anyone that knows anything about rigging knows it had nothing to do with the chainsaw, and everything to do with the groundman not running the rope. The only thing the climber did wrong was not communicate with the ground, I have blown tops bigger than that with no shock load at all.
I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE BEING AFRAID OF CHAINSAW ACCIDENTS SHOULDN'T BE HELD BACK FROM USING THEM, IF YOU ARE AT A LABOR POOL AND YOU HAVE NEVER USED A CHAINSAW AND YOU GET A REQUEST FOR A JOB INVOLVING A CHAINSAW, GO FOR IT! 8 BUCKS-10 BUCKS AN HOUR, DON'T EVER REFUSE WORK, ALWAYS USE A CHAINSAW EVEN IF YOU HAVE NEVER, JUST LIE AND SAY YOU HAVE, IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, THAT'S LIFE!
@MattL883 This is the dumbest fucking advice I have ever heard. "Always use a chainsaw even if you have never, just lie and say you have, if something goes wrong, thats life". That advice right there will get someones leg cut to the artery and have them bleed to death on a hill somewhere. That isn't "life" if the person doesn't make it to tell about it, you fucking idiot. NEVER lie and put yourself or someone else in danger, it isnt worth it, and it sure as hell wont be worth 8-10 bucks an hour!
@jgm1234567 DUMB ADVICE? NO STEP UP AND BE A DAMN MAN, AND USE THE CHAINSAW. I WATCHED THIS ASSHOLE LAST MONTH TURN DOWN A 10 DOLLAR AN HOUR JOB 6 HOURS REQUESTING SOMEONE WHO'S SKILLED WITH THE CHAINSAW...THIS GUY ENDS UP REFUSING THE DAMN JOB! CUZ HE TOLD THEM HE NEVER USED ONE, OR USED IT SPARINGLY...WTF...THERE'S CERTAIN THINGS IN LIFE YOU LIE ABOUT...AND THATS ONE...IF U HAVEN'T USED ONE...LIE SO U CAN GET THE WORK..COMMON SENSE!
@MattL883 That "asshole" was a hell of a lot smarter than you are. And saying "lie so you can get the work" is common sense is like saying being ugly is sexy. ITS BACK ASSWARDS! You...yes you...are a fucking idiot. Jesus christ, dont ever post this stupid shit again.
@jgm1234567 HE WAS A FUCKIN IDIOT CUZ THIS GUY WAS IN HIS 20'S AND NEVER USED A CHAINSAW OR LANDSCAPED...WHAT A FUCKIN LOSER SO BE IT IF UR ALMOST 30 AND HAVE NEVER DONE CONSTRUCTION OR LANDSCAPING, BUT ALL U HAVE TO DO IT LIE AND SAY U HAVE EXPERIENCE, I ALWAYS SAY THAT EVEN IF U HAVE NO EXPERICE, LIE AND SAY U DO SO U CAN GET THE JOB...HOW IS THAT STUPID???
@MattL883 Hey moron, you just called a guy a "fuckin idiot" because he was in his 20's and has never used a chainsaw or landscaped. There are damn near 7 billion people in this world, and I would be willing to bet my life's savings that less than 3 percent of them have used a chainsaw/landscaped before the age of 30. No one is a loser for not having used one. And its stupid to lie to an employer because 1) its illegal. 2) In situations like this you could put someones life in danger. Grow up.
@jgm1234567 YOU HAVE TO TAKE RISKS IN LIFE IDIOT, THIS GUY PROBABLY DESPARATELY NEEDED WORK..AND HERE HE TURNED SOME DOWN??? THIS WORK WAS OFFERED TO HIM...6 HOUR AT 8 DOLLARS AN HOUR THAT'S 48 BUCKS IN HIS POCKET HE COULD'VE HAD IF HE WOULD'VE JUST TAKEN THE TIME TO PRETEND LIKE HE KNEW HOW TO USE ONE...JUST LIE SO U CAN GET THE DAMN JOB THIS IS A TOUGH ECONOMY..UR THE IDIOT FOR ENCOURAGING THIS GUY.
@MattL883 You see this video? The blow-hard in the video got pretty damn lucky. But shit like that, and WORSE, happens to dumb-asses that lie about their skills. As a business owner, I sure as hell wouldn't want some lame headed prick lying to me about his skills, and hurting himself, or others as well, costing me unemployment and putting me out of a few workers, making it harder for my business to survive. If everyone did this, businesses wouldnt be able to make our economy RUN...IDIOT.
Looks like the part he cut off was attached to a pulley with a line to the ground. I think it got snagged on something and stopped the top from a controlled fall, letting it swing instead.
im in training to be an ariel arborist. last year i saw a good friend make the same cut, oddly enough a very similar type of tree, Pinus strobus (white pine), a sudden gust of wind came and blew the top over him. pinching his helmut to the point it cracked down the center. he is was ok tho. just a few cuts and bruises and freaked out.
@TenthPrestegeisaFAG thats the stupist thing i ever heard.. theyr working and people would hear that. so why would they wanna go to the tree with a baby anyway lol
He used safety gear and harnesses, they all worked, and nothing fell, what's idiotic about that?!
Tying falling part to the trunk wasn't an accident, in fact, it looks like he didn't tie it tight enough and it fell further down than he planned.
I live in the tropics and coconuts that high are normal around the suburbs. Watching one being cut next to your house is an unnerving experience. One of those sections can easily punch through a roof. Wish they had the gear this guy has.
It looks to me like the idea was to "top" the tree without having it crash down on the things below (like houses), so with that in mind, that looked like a scary ride...
all the people saying hes stupid or why would he do that? u just are idiots it takes alot to do that my uncle does this he broke his nose from a tree branch if he didnt have his helmet he couldve died its not at all funny
ive been a tree climber now for 6 years i work for a big company in australia good on you mate an if any 1 is to blame its your ground crew but these things happen some days
Been there . Always remember three points of contact at all times . When climbing or cutting. Always use humbolt cut when topping .Prevents top from sliding back!
@Defenseman619 If you cut a top to big it will fall to fast. You cut clean thru with out leaving holding wood you loose control. You cut corners on safety you will loose. When I mean 3 points of contact .Three fisical body parts two feet one hand.Chainsaw is on a lanyard let it drop.Always use reverse wedge(humbolt)cut. That prevents slide back.
@AWL3rd It wasn't a huge head to snatch. The fault was obviously with the groundsman who you can hear yell 'Sorry' as the accident unfolds. It is of concern to hear that so many arborists think that it was the fault of the climber. Maybe his topping strop was a bit long, and maybe he shouldn't have taken so long securing his saw, but the groundsman didn't let the rope run. It just stops dead a third of the way down the tree. A basic rigging technique.
damn thats not even funny that must've bin scary as fuck dude could've died I mean what would you do if you were in a situation like that theres really nothing that you could do
@AWL3rd I agree with your stand point, I would fault the person running the lowering line as well though that section took a hell of a lot of slack out before it even got caught.
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen"
seriously? wtf gramma go to church and pray with your weirdass because obviously you faggot ass people arent getting anything else helpful done in the world
wow a few mistakes made there fella's for a start really should not of tryed to snatch so much off, 2nd the length of rope used in the snatch should only be a few feet alowing it to fall so far is why there was so much bounce!. But lucky for him he did not slip outta of his climbing irons. Still i do find it abit funny
Fascinating footage! Thanks for sharing! I knew a tree surgeon once who opened a BRANCH office. He would go out on a LIMB for all his patients. Sadly, he eventually had to give up his practice....turns out he couldn't stand the sight of SAP !!!
I've been there, done that! But ,I was tied in at two points. Plus my groundy was watching what was going on . So I didn't fly all over hell! The rope crew should have let the top come down further, before they stopped it.
first off he is not a "logger" he is a tree trimmer removing a possible dangerous tree to the near by homes . second, you only hate him because you don't have the balls to climb 80ft up with a running chainsaw on your belt .
not really a "close call" that happens every time you top or remove a heavy leader off a wood like pine or spruce . it's quite a ride but safe if your tied in right
@Defenseman619 It takes skill and years of climbing to do it right .Geometery helps to with angles and where to cut.Any fool can pickup a chainsaw it takes intellagents to run it without loosing a limb or killing yourself.
@Defenseman619 ha lack of education, hell i know people who got college degrees and hate their "productive for society jobs". this shit is a fun way to put in a hard days work
Agreed! I love walking into the store with sawdust all over me and watching the yuppies look down on it. I just smile and wave, smile and wave! Money can't buy happiness , and they're shit out of luck when they run out of people to hire!

not really a "close call" that happens every time you top or remove a heavy leader off a wood like pine or spruce . it's quite a ride but safe if your tied in right

@snowman11686 I would say it's less about balls and more like the lack of an education and ability to do something more productive.

@Defenseman619 It takes skill and years of climbing to do it right .Geometery helps to with angles and where to cut.Any fool can pickup a chainsaw it takes intellagents to run it without loosing a limb or killing yourself.

@Truklodyte "Goemetery"??? "Intellagents"??? You just proved my point. Go climb a tree while the grown ups do something important.
