Haha, man, El-P bodied Esoterrible so hard... That sample of Esoterrible laughing had me fucking rolling. This shit was no filler, just all fuckin stabs to the throat. He said just what I thought about Eso's voice only being tolerable when Virtuoso was rhyming to. Haha, damn.
He seems to know an awful lot about Esoteric. He hates him so much he knows every detail of his life. That's called an "obsession". Also lots of homo phobia on this track. He's a very enlightened man.
@dtension Can't rap about him without doing research on him. I guess he could have just made assumptions, right? He's a rapper and not a Rhodes scholar so don't be surprised when you hear a "faggot" or two in his raps.....faggot. HAHAHA!!!! How's that for your homophobia.

I know this is ols and El said it himself no one thinks about this now, but there couln't have been a worth while comeback ever.
Peace to Esoteric, he's cool and all, but EL-P left no room for a response.
Def Jux went under..So, I don't know what El-P has to say now. I love El-P and hate Esoteric because he hasn't made a good record since Speaking Real Words EP. Additionally, all of El-P's artists went to Rhymesayers. Atmosphere won out over all others. I am just glad El-P is still making great tracks and all the artists that needed a label were able to get on a classic label such as Rhymesayers.
@NoShameInMyGame17 'who ever this is'? for real.. do your homework. El-p may not be much these days, but he's a HUGE part of the foundation that built the entire underground seen. This dude put many many many emcee's on, way before Def Jux to present time. what are you 10 years old?
@AFrame88 "El-p may be much these days"???? The fuck are you talking about?? check out the song Drones over Bklyn which El released like a month ago its mad dope
This diss started out really genius with the opening pitch, but the beat is worse than the one eso used, and his flow on this blows, but his lyrics are def. more indepth than eso's, except when he started talkin about eso not being able to rhyme... LISTEN to PULL THE PINS OUT out or any track thats not just clownin on someone, then say he can't rhyme, or flow. El-P gots some sickkk shit tho, don't get me wrong. Eso took it over playin their song samples at the end.
Trax that prove Eso destroys EL-P: Headswell (feat. Virtuoso), Protocol, Watch me, Word Association, Grace Of Gods (feat. Rise), Hey Now (feat. Inspectah Deck), Think Back, Your Revolutuon (feat. Mr Lif & Virtuoso), Call Me E.S, Blitz, Terror to Your Ear, The Soul Purpose, Can't Come Close, Really Fly, Do Me a Favor, Rogue Nation, and that's not even including all of his songs with Demigodz or AOTP.. Lets just be fair here, Eso is the better lyricist. <--- period
@NamezJamez007 Eso is a tight emcee. But hes not that strong as a lyricist as el-p..Eso's message is blatant in his writing..El's are stronger and they have to be found..He doesnt just simply throw the idea out there you have to get the metaphors
@WuTang069 All to their own, however if your going to focus of the metaphorical range of artists.. Aesop Rock crushes everybody. So going by that logic, Aes is ace. There are many different aspects to consider when decided who is on top. I don't just go by metaphorical range. I also go by flow, depth, story lines, complexity and originality. That and natural dope feel to the attitude..
@NamezJamez007 Tight though..I used to be into aotp and jmt a while ago but im moved away from that for some reason.I still like it no doubt but right now...Its hard to name my favorites besides those 3 because the list goes on for like 30 artists you know but yeah thats the real hip hop shit!
i think what really says alot about El-P as a lyricist is that the beef tracks levelled against him (the ones i've heard anyway) aren't shitty tracks, but el-p STILL outdoes them all in his retaliations. Heavily. And I love diss tracks in general because I believe they fuel lyricists to raise the bar higher than the next guy (and because I laugh at people talking shit anyway).
At the end of the day, I still enjoy listening to songs by everyone involved, no matter who "won" or not.
@SickSchizophrenic esoteric was trying to get el p to sign him, el said no (more or less) and eso got pissed and dissed him. not trying to be biased but thats pretty much it unless I'm forgetting something.
WOW, this shit is garbo. esoteric killed all the weather men in mercy killing and copy right, this guy can not rap, his beats are so so, if u really think this is tight kill yourself, cuz u are not a rap fan u like shit, absolute shit. dude has no rythem sounds like an average white boy trying to freestyle at a keg party in malibu WOW
Dude chill... First look at El-P resume and say hes not shit... He does sooo much more than Esoteric and much much more than Copyright. I grew up and live in Columbus, OH. Copyright doesn't do ANYTHING music wise besides try to make the same music he did 8 years ago. Esoteric is cool and his albums are in my collection... But like I said, look at El-Ps resume.
@canibus123321 ok so lets get this straight, your saying that if someone likes this, example me. I should kill my self because according to you its "absolute shit"? Well then according to your logic I can tell you to kill your self for thinking its "absolute shit" then, isn't that right?
el-p is genius, not because of this, but because of company flow, weareallgoingtoburninhell mixes, fantastic damage, and to a lesser extent I'll sleep when your dead.
eso is a mad corn id smack him in the mouth if he left boston or where ever he lives come do a show in nyc and get BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOED........GO EL-P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@NCbaseball13 Look bitch if u got something to say come to my face and u the real pussy if u tlk ur shit on the internet so dont sweat I make ur life a living hell u the real bitch dawg
@NCbaseball13 yeah but def jux ARE "pussy fags" so that's like the pot callin' the kettle black, man. hands down the biggest nerds of the scene. goofball dorks with trendy outfits and tight pants putting gel in their hair and attempting "alternative" methods of making "rap" while wearing blackframe glasses with no lenses in them... softest biggest jokes in the scene.
Dude, have you ever heard of Company Flow? El-p was the frontliner for graffiti writers in the early 90s, the whole lifestyle Eso and the Demigodz were trying to do in 2000 <--(when this beef happened). Murs is on Def Jux, and I know sure as hell he's actually from a bad neighborhood, unlike Eso, who's from Beverly Hills.
I don't know whats worse, nerd rap or wigger rap, but when they are beefing its terrible.
My reaction to your first post was "I was just saying sales shouldn't dictate skill/talent. I guess that makes me an idiot." Pretty wound up. You just cannot remember what you read or what you have written, pretty strange stuff.
@psychicSnow No, I'm sorry, those last three posts destroyed you. There is nothing you can say now. If you would like check the mobile YouTube site, it doesn't seem to recognize deleted posts. That is how I caught you in the lie about not attacking my hip hop knowledge. Better luck next time little guy.
@Msrenoux i knew it was a lie, but it wound you up. you have consistently come across to everyone commenting as an angry irrational dickhead, and i don't consider you worth telling the truth to. your pathetic and irrational gripes, coupled to the fact this is YOUTUBE, means people will say anything to wind you up some more, cos it's funny. you got wound up. you lose.
I never meant that sales shouldn't have any factor on deciding who is the most skilled. What I clearly meant is the one who is the most broke, or sells the least records, is clearly the best MC on the planet. That is what you thought I ment right? That is the idiology for which I am an idiot is it not? The only real mc's are broke mcs, I'm having T-Shirts made.
@psychicSnow "which you have interpreted as meaning i wish to attack you over the level of your hip-hop knowledge" in an earlier post "you think you know something about hip hop but you do not" The difference between us is I understand what I read. You only attack when you think you will not get a response, when you do get a response you back pedal and cry. That is called being spineless. Next time you call someone an idiot, do it to the mirror.
@psychicSnow I give up. You can not even understand simple statements. That entire last post was obviously not only straight forward, but completly genuine (I feel like you will miss the sarcasm AGAIN so, I don't want to have sex with you and the rest was a joke as well). I wish I could 'type slow' so you would understand. I even recanted my original statement and said what you thought I ment. As I said 8 or so posts ago, if that makes you feel like you have won a huge victory, then congrats.
@psychicSnow "it's EXACTLY what you wrote. if you've realised how stupid and indefensible a statement it is you should admit that rather than lie about being 'tired of defending' it. if you were tired of defending it you would have just ignored everyone. fact is you think you know something about hip hop but evidently you do not, you're just an asshole who likes to write bold (though completly illogical and pointless) statements to the general public."
@Msrenoux i do find it funny to wind you up however, as your reaction to my initial post marked you out as both irascible and childishly self-important. it's still funny now, shall we continue?
@psychicSnow I like your 'I don't want to play, I don't want to play... you have no friends' You're a pseudo intellectual who doesn't possess the brain power to realize that you don't possess much brain power. The worst insult I can imagine you receiving is "You are you." I know you won't understand this but I'm not taking anything personally, I just enjoy reading into the subtleties of your poorly put together underdeveloped thoughts. To respond to your last statement: You're a poo poo head.
@parcheesily riiiiiight...because tracks like 'the bridge is over", "no vaseline", "2nd round knock out", "hit em up", "ether", "takeover" and many more tracks arent classic hip-hop tracks. they're just wastes of time. right.
Battlerap is bullshit anyway though, spending 8 fucking minutes making gay jokes about some guy you don't like is a fucking waste of time compared to the shit these guys were capable of before they learned each other names.
i been following this beef for a minute and i gotta say no diss track is better than mercy killing from 7l and eso. this is too ridiculous constantly pausing to make long drawn out jokes. he had some good lines for sure but it really doesnt compare
Beef is SOOOOO STUPIDDDDD. Jukies have worked with Eso&7L..., fuck this bull shit. i just want to listen to the music....god damn. Also...El P is a producer first and foremost so I don't know why he's putting himself out there in a battle as something else...
@CamerOneiric but if you really look at el he rips the mic like no one before or after him he is a rare musical genius...he is one of the dopest mc'z in the history of hip hop
I think that the rationale behind the opening to this track is that Eso is so wack he can't even make costs back on a release, making his release schedule nothing more the publicized and costly masturbation. I hadn't actually heard of Esoteric before hearing this track. Seems like he horses around the underground dissing random people for attention.
He's saying that while mainstream artists are forced to abdicate or understate any message or meaning they might have had, in favor of higher sales, so-called "underground" labels and artists actually have the ability to make more money as individuals than many of the higher selling artists because they are willing to bend and negate the capitalistic nature of the business.
@Msrenoux I disagree with Esoteric and Sole being better then any Def Jukie but I feel what your saying and I agree Underground isn't about selling records its about keeping our culture alive
@Msrenoux Oh so making music people dont want to buy and having less fans means your a better "underground" musician. I understand. In that aspect, esoteric is a better rapper than tupac AND biggie combined, who sold records, so that must make them bad musicians in your book, right?
@Msrenoux shut the fuck up you stupid hipster faggot. LMAO at your stuck in the 90s attitude. All u underground rap faggots is just Hipsters now still desperately seeking for everything to be 'real' in your lives. LMAO at thinking some shitty underground record with some 35 year old red haired opie looking burnt out Hipster backpacking faggot who cant rap on beat is 'real'. Keep it real faggot. Real fucking stupid. Fuck your Hipster generation. Go fuck yourself and take a shower u fucking FGT
@snry77 Holy shit, I had to revisit this. Your page says you are 33 years old, that alone is pretty sad considering your comment. You have other people calling you a bigot and a Nazi, you must be so proud. You are such a sad little human. You are like a car wreck of humanity, I've gotta see more, please post a follow up rant.
@Msrenoux I think it's more in terms of how much their hard work is taking them places in the underground compared to Esos and Sole's. How well they're known in underground and outer-rim circles. Rather than "OH WE JUST SOLD MANY RECORDS".
I think El-P was getting the point across that Eso likes to bring up his expensive taste but sold less than El-P. I love Def Jux and Demigodz and thought this beef was funny as fuck, probably one of the best beefs in underground hip hop
@Msrenoux I think you missed the point. In fact, if you take it all the way back to Funcrusher Plus, it was El-P that said "when sales control stats, I place no faith in the majority."
@Msrenoux It's always about money, Underground rappers may think they're better than mainstreamers because they don't take label money but at the end of the day everybody wants to get paid, whether in millions or thousands. Just look at Vast and El-P.
@Msrenoux you're an idiot. what is it that you think the underground IS all about? being broke? there's nothing wrong with making money from records. the difference is not having to lie down for the majors. it was independent as fuck, not underground as fuck. broke as fuck; that's eso...whatever
@psychicSnow As I originally wagered your reading comprehension is just low. You are not even conscious about the things you write. "You are an idoit" and "asshole" are great ways to disagree with an idea someone has. Here you go, I never meant that sales shouldn't have any factor on deciding who is the most skilled. What I clearly meant is the one who is the most broke, or sells the least records, is clearly the best MC on the planet. There you go, that was your point right?
@psychicSnow I thought you discerned that I was an idiot and an asshole from even less evidence than you have given me? Thank you, twenty year old kid from the UK, for schooling me on not only hip hop, but what I was saying. You're right, I am a joke, a funny one, and right now I'm about you. You are the low hanging fruit, an insignificant little hypocrite contributing to the cesspool of ignorant YouTube commenter's. Be quiet, go away.
I'm just sick to know that people are bringing the diss rap into underground hip hop. We had something good going, until these fucking bitches started bringing dumb shit to the Jux. I think it's good of them to rub faces in dirt, and then they can get back to the music. Let them know who is really the boss of the underground scene. I will stand by Weathermen and CC forever.
@GrossBoyPornStar Ummmm.... you do know it was Cage who started the whole thing, right? He is the entire reason for the whole thing. The shit starters were the Weathermen. The Demigodz were only on defense. I'm a Weatherman fan so I'm not even trying to highpost, but at least know the history before you point fingers at the wrong person. And this diss record is late into the beef, probably the 4th or 5th back and forth song in this whole saga. Like G.I. Joe says, knowing is half the battle. :)
Wait, can someone explain to me why they are beefing?

@NCbaseball13 yeah but def jux ARE "pussy fags" so that's like the pot callin' the kettle black, man. hands down the biggest nerds of the scene. goofball dorks with trendy outfits and tight pants putting gel in their hair and attempting "alternative" methods of making "rap" while wearing blackframe glasses with no lenses in them... softest biggest jokes in the scene.

@coocoocal42

Excuse me I meant diss tracks not battlerap. Battlerap is worthwhile in the right hands. Diss tracks are ALWAYS a waste of time.
parcheesily 1 year ago
@parcheesily riiiiiight...because tracks like 'the bridge is over", "no vaseline", "2nd round knock out", "hit em up", "ether", "takeover" and many more tracks arent classic hip-hop tracks. they're just wastes of time. right.
sucramnipp 1 year ago
Battlerap is bullshit anyway though, spending 8 fucking minutes making gay jokes about some guy you don't like is a fucking waste of time compared to the shit these guys were capable of before they learned each other names.

boss2000lb 1 year ago
I think that the rationale behind the opening to this track is that Eso is so wack he can't even make costs back on a release, making his release schedule nothing more the publicized and costly masturbation. I hadn't actually heard of Esoteric before hearing this track. Seems like he horses around the underground dissing random people for attention.
That being said, this track is hilarious.
komphlex 1 year ago
@Msrenoux
He's saying that while mainstream artists are forced to abdicate or understate any message or meaning they might have had, in favor of higher sales, so-called "underground" labels and artists actually have the ability to make more money as individuals than many of the higher selling artists because they are willing to bend and negate the capitalistic nature of the business.
lasthalo11 1 year ago
you guys do realize after esoteric made mercy killing:
1. el-p's group the weathermen all broke up and absolutely hate each other
2. cage now wears an emo wig, disses hip-hop and dresses like avril levine
3. el-p's label def jux went out of biz.,..he blew it up his nose
4. cage posted pics of copywrite jerking off naked on the internet (FOR REAL)
that said, esoteric ftw (by a landslide)

@Msrenoux I disagree with Esoteric and Sole being better then any Def Jukie but I feel what your saying and I agree Underground isn't about selling records its about keeping our culture alive
defjuxisdope 1 year ago
@Msrenoux it wasntt about records, it was about eso saying that he was broke when he hasnt sold much of anything either
ConfusedTrap 1 year ago
@Msrenoux Oh so making music people dont want to buy and having less fans means your a better "underground" musician. I understand. In that aspect, esoteric is a better rapper than tupac AND biggie combined, who sold records, so that must make them bad musicians in your book, right?

defjuxisdope 1 year ago
@Msrenoux I think it's more in terms of how much their hard work is taking them places in the underground compared to Esos and Sole's. How well they're known in underground and outer-rim circles. Rather than "OH WE JUST SOLD MANY RECORDS".
ReaperX3ro 1 year ago
@Msrenoux
I think El-P was getting the point across that Eso likes to bring up his expensive taste but sold less than El-P. I love Def Jux and Demigodz and thought this beef was funny as fuck, probably one of the best beefs in underground hip hop

SickeninglyILL 1 year ago
@Msrenoux I think you missed the point. In fact, if you take it all the way back to Funcrusher Plus, it was El-P that said "when sales control stats, I place no faith in the majority."
By the way, El-P murdered Sole.

@Msrenoux El-P was just saying he rhymes off beat, does shit his own way, and still sells more than Esoteric
Glitch667 1 year ago
@Msrenoux It's always about money, Underground rappers may think they're better than mainstreamers because they don't take label money but at the end of the day everybody wants to get paid, whether in millions or thousands. Just look at Vast and El-P.
parcheesily 1 year ago
@Msrenoux you're an idiot. what is it that you think the underground IS all about? being broke? there's nothing wrong with making money from records. the difference is not having to lie down for the majors. it was independent as fuck, not underground as fuck. broke as fuck; that's eso...whatever

"You are an idoit" and "asshole" are great ways to disagree with an idea someone has. Here you go, I never meant that sales shouldn't have any factor on deciding who is the most skilled.
GrossBoyPornStar 1 year ago
@GrossBoyPornStar Ummmm.... you do know it was Cage who started the whole thing, right? He is the entire reason for the whole thing. The shit starters were the Weathermen. The Demigodz were only on defense. I'm a Weatherman fan so I'm not even trying to highpost, but at least know the history before you point fingers at the wrong person. And this diss record is late into the beef, probably the 4th or 5th back and forth song in this whole saga. Like G.I. Joe says, knowing is half the battle. :)
