They have inland neighbors, so they can dominate Asia through overland force, and use aircraft to control coastal and nearby waters. It has to be admited the Russian navy's equipment is quite old. Almost ships were legacy of Soveit Union. The Russian should downsize and update the equipment to keep their capacity. Even Chinese navy has exceed Russian navy's, benefiting from the increasing ecomonic capacity.

It takes Russia years to complete say a frigate but China can get one ready in less then six months. Russia do however still lead in ex submarine technology, missiles ecs. China still buys and copies Russian equipment becouse they cant produce them thierself yet. This may change in another 10 years.

No offence but alot of these pictures are not accurate. The Russian navy doesn't currently have aircraft carriers. I think the rest of the picks were destroyers. There is more to a navy then just destroyers. And the Russian navy has other ships than just destroyers. Most of these pics are probally from Soveit times, todays Russian navy is heavily underfunded. I read in Global seucirty that they were having to cut the size of the navy down again.
Actually the have 6, but 4 are decommissioned and one was sold to India. 2 aircraft carriers will be back to military service in the next few years. U did not read carefully what i wrote mate ,I asked what Russia implemented i VAST NUMBERS.BTR-90 around 350 in service,T-90 is only development of T-72BM with involvment of components from t-80 next Su-35 is prototype due in service 2011 , Mig-35 is development of Mig29(new engine) and only for export,Ka-52 there is 10 in service,Ka-60 there is 7 in service,S-400 just has finished tests and is ready for production but we will see how many going to enter regular service.
Actually you are wrong. The T-90 is based on the T-72 design but it is far superior and currently represents an overall of 15% of the active tanks in Russia, which is a lot if measured. The S-400 has already been put to service within 7 different PVO units on the most critical areas, testing was complete 3 years ago and is already being mass produced. The Ka-52 has been split into two regiments and is currently operational and more deliveries are expected soon.
Large numbers means a good percent of active counter parts. The BTR-90s are also in a good number within the Russian military, saw service in Chechnya and Georgia being active within three armies in the Russian military. A total of 30 has been already built and another shipment of 67 is expected by the end of this year with 44 currently under construction and 9 being tested. The MiG-35 is the improved version of the MiG-29, I agree, but it is far more superior in design.

They have inland neighbors, so they can dominate Asia through overland force, and use aircraft to control coastal and nearby waters. But since their focus is local, this deprives them of some capacity to power project.

It has to be admited the Russian navy's equipment is quite old. Almost ships were legacy of Soveit Union. The Russian should downsize and update the equipment to keep their capacity. Even Chinese navy has exceed Russian navy's, benefiting from the increasing ecomonic capacity.

@harryhu008 It depends how you look at it. China has a far better ship building industri than Russia today. That and a good economy makes for a short construction time. It takes Russia years to complete say a frigate but China can get one ready in less then six months. Russia do however still lead in ex submarine technology, missiles ecs. China still buys and copies Russian equipment becouse they cant produce them thierself yet. This may change in another 10 years.

No offence but alot of these pictures are not accurate. The Russian navy doesn't currently have aircraft carriers. I think the rest of the picks were destroyers. There is more to a navy then just destroyers. And the Russian navy has other ships than just destroyers. Most of these pics are probally from Soveit times, todays Russian navy is heavily underfunded. I read in Global seucirty that they were having to cut the size of the navy down again.

Actually the have 6, but 4 are decommissioned and one was sold to India. 2 aircraft carriers will be back to military service in the next few years. And 2 more Kirov class cruisers will enter service as well. About the US military, I think that you will agree when I say that there hasn't been nothing impressive invented since the end of the Cold war except the F-22 and F-35. The Russian have a plenty of newer equipment.

I have heard rumors about this, but it is considered fiction as well as some conspiracy theories about secret wars. Even if the US have invented such thing, no hard evidence is present that it was, it will be most likely to be a doomsday device. Plus that if your government does want to maintain peace, then making war on China is not a bright idea. So let us be realistic here, if you want to prove me wrong, give me an evidence of weapons that actually exist and are useful. So far you just modernize older equipment and your current F-15s, F-16s and F-18s although having superior avionics are obsolete as designs and should be replaced as soon as possible. 200 raptors are not enough to help you maintain your international military status. M1A2s are too big and heavy and ineffective in large numbers as MBTs.

Many things, from what I know the T-90, BTR-90, Su-35, MiG-35, Ka-52, Ka-60, S-400. Newer varieties of other weapon systems, anti-tank weaponry, AK-101 & AK-102. U did not read carefully what i wrote mate ,I asked what Russia implemented i VAST NUMBERS.BTR-90 around 350 in service,T-90 is only development of T-72BM with involvment of components from t-80 next Su-35 is prototype due in service 2011 , Mig-35 is development of Mig29(new engine) and only for export,Ka-52 there is 10 in service,Ka-60 there is 7 in service,S-400 just has finished tests and is ready for production but we will see how many going to enter regular service.

Actually you are wrong. The T-90 is based on the T-72 design but it is far superior and currently represents an overall of 15% of the active tanks in Russia, which is a lot if measured. The S-400 has already been put to service within 7 different PVO units on the most critical areas, testing was complete 3 years ago and is already being mass produced. The Ka-52 has been split into two regiments and is currently operational and more deliveries are expected soon.

A total of 30 has been already built and another shipment of 67 is expected by the end of this year with 44 currently under construction and 9 being tested. The MiG-35 is the improved version of the MiG-29, I agree, but it is far more superior in design.

A version of the MiG-35 is designed for non-export - MiG-29M NATO reporting name. Also the AK-101 is being used by Russian armed forces as well. Don't know from where you got this info. Interestingly the Russian Defense Ministry has much lower budget for now compared to its American counterpart and yet they manage to pull the Russian military in one piece. Plus that you asked how many new vehicles Russia has mass produced since the Cold War and I told you.

The MiG-35 has already been exported to Syria and India. Due to its modifications it is a totally new aircraft, and comparing it with MiG-29 will something like comparing F-15 and F-22. Thus it is a newer aircraft. Plus that do not expect to find an extremely large number yet, but it is a more effective replacement program in comparison to the US, where only putting new stuff under an old shell is all that has been done so far and a very small number of new vehicles can be seen.

I mentioned that people in Poland hate Russia more than they hated the third Reich (and you really hated the Nazis, never said you loved them). I've read some history and I know how bad things were during WW2 in Poland, but currently most of the Polish users in Youtube hate the Russians, blaming them for the soviet union. Despite the fact that there were 13 other countries in the Soviet Union and you have no prejudice towards the whatsoever and this really puzzles me, can you clarify it please.

How can i blame Estonia or Lithuania they had even worse situation, they were forced to be part of Soviet Union.We dont like them cos they imposed unwanted comunistic system in Poland after 1945, we remember 17september 1939 when as Hitlers ally atacked us when we were fighting Germans,we remember they murdered 20,000 our officers in Katyn.From second half of 18 century we did not experience anything good from them.

I remember that when Hitler attacked Poland, the Soviets attacked from the East and divided it amongst themselves, however, this was the decision of Joseph Stalin who was not Russian, he was Georgian. The Military force that invaded Poland was sent from the Ukraine as well as Lithuana and Estonia, there is no confirmation of Russian troops invading, although that there were Russian military commanders. Later on during the times of communism everybody had the same problems, not only Poland.

What I meant to say that the soldiers that invaded in 1939 were not entirely Russians. It was whole damn soviet union for crying out loud. Plus that so far I haven't found a source stating that the invasion of Poland was entirely an idea of the Russians, I didn't say that I find any excuses or try to glorify them. But suddenly when the Eastern Block Collapsed everybody is saying Russia this and that. Now the US are behaving exactly as the soviet union did, and still everybody is fine with it.

Russia found itself in a bad situation after the war with Japan in 1905,and then Poland use opportunity and started to fight for its independence.for Russia that was a betrayal, because you were with them in the same state as it was good time,and when they came bad days,you leave.After Russia left ww1 and revolution, to the Polish-Russian War 1919-21 Poles are actually working against Russia.And then again when Russia became strong in WW2, you would again to be friends :-)that way Stalin...

Russia together with Austria and Prussia invaded Poland 3 times in 1772,1793,1795 and shared our land with them.After 1 war we anounced independence (Jugoslavia did it too) and we had to defence our country against bolsheviks,and in battle of Warsow 1920 we kicked back the Huns were is their place. to Asia

@bennyronny we have not lost a single war. in Slovenia, war didnt happen, in croatia and bosnia, Serbia didnt participate, only help Serbs who lived there, and 12% Serbs in Croatia fight against 88% croatian, None of these wars are not we start, and NATO in Kosovo lost a war against serbian army That is why they signed that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia and now there is a problem about that, and we dont wont to be part of NATO, I've seen what happened in Georgia, for only 3 days.

Idiot NATO had ground attack (Košare and PAŠTRIK) But they are used as infantry Albanians from Kosovo, they are the two ground attack suffered huge losses, the Serbian army to attack the whole time, NATO lost a total of 9 tanks (as of 1250 we had) when we could not win, made a compromise ( admit that Kosovo is Serbian, and we let them enter Kosovo)

Actually they are based on the older versions, but have totally new design and much superior armament and other systems. It would be foolish to start from scratch wouldn't it? Plus that for the past 20 years very few military models are brand new. The US military has its Raptors and F-35s. If you check the dates of older weapons entering mobilization, you will see that only in ongoing wars there is rapid military research that implies the need for new weaponry.
