  • it's entertaining reading these arguments over which camera is better...it really all depends on the user. you can get great shots from either camera. Yes the sony has autofocus but amazon lists it with a kit lens at around 800 dollars....the t2i is closer to 5 or 600. I've had my t2i for over a year and have no problem pulling focus manually. Quit bickering over which camera is "better". they both kick ass and are reasonably priced. Just buy one and go make movies or take pics...sheesh!!!

  • SONY α55!!

  • question... for the 550D auto focusing do you have to manually press the button when you get closer to the subject to adjust focus or does it continuously adjust its AF once you press the record button? please and thank you

  • everybody buys sony cameras because of the simple things it has... but for a professional look, the canon cameras are overall better...

  • @blodaas i agree

  • @blodaas sony i buy sony for many reasons: 1: Best Image Sensors 2: Best Lenses 3: Best Quality (audio, video, images) 4: Best Low Light Shooting ( images & videos ) 5: Best Image Stabilization 6: Best GPS geotagging ( Images & Videos ) 7: Best Shooting Mods 8: Best Smallest Camera Body Sizes 9: Best Resolution 10: Best MF, MC, MP, Bitrate etc etc to me SONY make.beleive, canon make s*** ! sorry pal this`s my opinion :)
  • @Kuwaityx

haha if u really knew cameras u wouldnt say that. u would have some sympathy for the other brands. Nikon and Canon. the ONLY top two brands in DSLR which professionals choose. Why does sony have better lens? best video quality? what about Canon... Do u know how many hollywood movies were shot on the 5D mark II / 7D ? video quality? have u looked at nikons image quality? but yes Sony has good sensors. They make sensors for nikons.

  • mirciutz

Real proffesional choose Mamaya, Alpa, PhaseOne, Hasselblad....

You, Canikons, have no ideea... I wonder if they will not write their shiny brand on the camera, will you still choose Nikon or Canon?

  • Who is the noob here? Depth of field is solely dependent upon aperture setting. Smaller the aperture (higher setting), the greater the depth of field. The canon shot was definitely overexposed and therefore more blurred background. White balance was f&cked up too, but that's a whole other show. It's a common FALLACY that wide angle lenses deliver less depth of field. Focal length has nothing to do wih it,,,its all in your f-stop. The 550D (T2i in USA) is a widely flawed hi-priced amateur camera

  • @chefpetey Widely flawed??? How come the professional reviewers never mentioned this? so where was the flaw again?

  • Maybe the Canon, hav'nt been put on "continu autofocus mode"?

  • OMG im totally buying A55

  • sony :)

  • AF on the A55 is the best there is, and it takes decent pictures - but pretty much everything else about it suck! Instead of fixing what could easily be fixed with a firmware upgrade (manual video controls and higher bitrates etc.), they left the A33 and A55 behind, to concentrate on the newer A77. The least they could've done, was to let coders decrypt the firmware and fix what they've failed to fix themselves. No custom firmware available for Sony, but for Canon, Nikon and Panasonic = BAD! :)

  • Hi. I am confused if I should buy the canon 550D or the A55 ! I need 60fps @720p which the A55 doesnt. 550D does but it cannot auto rack focus. The A77 which can do both is yet to be launched and I need to buy a camera in 2 days !!!! INstead of an A55 can I go for an A35 ? That one autofocuses too. I need a cam for video only. HELP

  • @roalme00 learn to focus yourself and get a 550 or 600 lol

  • Sony wins hands down. Canon is great camera but has focusing problems which they never solved even in the new Canon 1DX, it still has focusing problems.

  • @le0401 Dude.... the only time where these so called "focusing problems appear" is in this video... he must have set his camera wrong. Go check out other video tests. The results are outstanding. No focusing issues what-so-ever. My Canon 550D has never had any of the issues you refer to.... Not to mention the Sony s55 has only 16 megapixels, while The Canon 550D has about 18.

  • @WaterCrystalline because, megapixels are everything right?

  • @forrest225 And Because focusing abilities are everything right? See what i'm getting at? And to finish this off: The Canon Has no focusing issues what-so-ever. It's this video that shows it. He probably misconfigured his camera. I have had mine for quite along time, and it's flawless. And BTW: Yes. Megapixels do matter alot.

  • @WaterCrystalline You don't get what i'm saying, I'm saying that megapixels should not be the determining factor, noise reduction is far more important.

  • @forrest225 Nope, not at all. Both are determining factors :) And like i said: The EOS550D Has no issues what-so-ever.

  • @WaterCrystalline That's why i'm getting a 600D :)

  • @forrest225 =P

  • which noobs are using the autofocus for making movies??

  • @zygmund18 the ones who are using it record family clips, or just on-the-go videos, NOT perfectly pre-planned shoots.

  • Damn she's so pretty

  • Sony is the King

  • Sony did better

  • I notice how the Canon doesn't lock the exposure--you can see it changing in obvious steps. Either the Sony locks exposure or it changes more gradually to be unnoticeable.

  • SONY!

  • The sony a55 AF works better IMHO

  • SONY THE BEST.

  • Ive owned alpha a55 for 6 months. Its amazing, but word of caution.. When shooting video, the sensor gets hot and shuts down, there is no firmare upgrade to sort this out, sony have this on to protect the camera from being damaged due to overheating, it recently shut down half way through the grooms speach. Luckily my trusty panasonic hmc150 was there to take over. But i do love the a55 , i just hope they sort there shit out on the a77

  • @jimmyruffin1066 Is it like that on all a55's or just your camera?

  • @jimmyruffin1066 It's because sony's sensors are fucking boss. Better than canon, better than nikon (they make sensors for nikon LOL). So much epic inside one sensor is bound to have heat issues. They are much improved on the a65 and a77 though.

  • @jimmyruffin1066 get a battery grip that will solve it. the heat is coming from the lit-ion battery. same goes for all other slr

  • I want to ask... Does the translucent mirror might cause problems to the sensor if you turn and hold the camera to the sunlight??

  • The 550D got a somewhat richer and more detailed image quality, while it's aute focusing isn't even close to the a55, but as you can improve how rich of colors the image shall be in post, it's kinda given what to buy if you don't feel like manually handle the focusing.

For example, look at the bricks on beige wall, on the sony it's hard to decide if it's a solid color or if it's space between the separate blocks.

  • one thing i learned in this video is that "never judge a product by their brand"

  • ...let's just wait for the A77. It'll be amazing with a Carl Zeiss lens.

  • @ESUNintel the a77 will have a can opener, a turkey fryer, and 14 lenses on it...well, thats the only way i think they can add more features to it :P

  • The canon is more natural and less fatiguing. Some people are impressed by "Hyper detail" and if the Sony seems brilliant out of the box then ultimately it will get fatiguing and tiring to watch over extended periods of time. Canon always have a vast knowledge of what makes a great Picture and video. My opinion is that Sony should stick to Games machines.

  • Sony destroys the canon, Sony for the win!

  • Haha, i love to see all the Canon owners crying, with their "oh, that's a trick video!! and my Canon is better in all the other aspects" LOL.. Sony have the power, and money to crush you.. Just wait ;-)

  • these people should be given a canon woke up, but the girl and very pretty .... I have his phone number I would like to invite to dinner and then who knows ...

  • i love you

    Ich habe mich verliebt

  • those eyes cannot lie! ;)

  • 14 losers using canon(-_-)

  • sony A55 is a good camera, but just remember that A55 will be over heat after 10 min video recording. the camera needs to be turn off for 5 to 10 min to be ready for video recording again!! so its not good enough to record birthdays or parties continuously :)

  • @hormozrad only overheating with steady shot on. Take a objektiv with AS or take a tripod an you can film 29m without overheating.

  • @hormozrad

    Turn off SSS

  • mmm, this video WAS EDITED... I'ts a Trap !!!

EOS 5d Mark II is also a $2500 dollar camera.

At this price point, it cannot be matched.

  • Comment removed

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE I use the 550D to film/photograph weddings.....and yes it works as hell !!

  • @tzanlex hey look 550d vs a camera 800$ please make some sense, compare apples to apples.

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE cannon is 2500$ at the price of 800$ sony give more bang for the buck, ok if you are a professional then you have lot of other choices, show me your cannon and nikkon at the 800$ price with features like A55 then talk.

  • there are many out here who are brand loyalists they would just look at the negatives of Sony, they are like those people who would buy a art piece not how it looks but who painted it. Nikkon and cannon cant even take a decent video but they want to talk about small cliches that sony has.

  • Comment removed

  • In short; canon is worse. The 550D does not blur the background at al as far as I can see. The A55 does a great job bluring the background and I think has a better picture.

  • Comment removed

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE : Why thank you very much, I never had thought off that. SO im assuming the 550D is better .

  • Comment removed

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE : That great intel, thanks a bunch

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE omg, haven`t you thought that you can manually adjust apperture BEFORE shooting the video. or do you think that sony`s video mode is fully auto? you`d better read about the camera before criticising it.

  • @elitecssplayer The canon 550D does not blur the background??? WTF? seriously? LOL! it is the lens that you are using that makes the background blurring.... not the Camera body you noob! Try a canon 50mm f1.8 on a 550D or any canon DSLR body and let us see if the back ground does not blurr... LOL! Man... if you know how to use the internet... try researching first before you open your mouth.

  • @Minakom2377

    If I may - it's actually the Apeture setting....yeah...

  • @nicoredditt oh sorry if i missed pointing that out. the guy i was replying to stated that the 550D could not blur the background. that was why i pointed out that it is the lens that does that and not the body... well the setting of the aperture value and the DOF is the one responsible for the OOF blur. but of course these settings are directly related with the lens and not the body itself. that was my point to him.

  • @elitecssplayer All down the the aperture used. What you have said literally has nothing to do with the cameras xD

Wider the lens, the smaller the depth of field (blurring objects out of focus) If you want that then look at lenses with a maximum aperture of around 1.2 to 1.8. Don't flaw the camera on the lens.

  • What??? from the looks of it you sound like you just got out of puberty... photographer over 40 years my ass... you sound like a sissy and a troll to me... you are defending a sony??? LOL!!!! that makes you sound like a sissy all the more... had you been a photogrpaher for over 40 years you would know that the sony just recently started their bid in the DSLR world... get a life and stop posing...

  • @Minakom2377 You could have phrased it less insulting you know?

  • a55 please !!

  • I'd want to keep her in focus, too!

  • a55 กินขาด

  • anyone can tell me if a55 have manual exposure control during video shooting? )

  • @shxuila123 sony a55 has manual control you can set it up complete manual or partial manual. I own one and I love it.

  • Comment removed

  • @jesseINTERACT1VE there is button of left side near lens when you switch that to manual mode you can control everything manually. I own a55 and i use it on a daily basis.

the manual aperture control you are talking about is also true you can get that by using the dial on the camera.

but you do have a option of full manual control.

  • Comment removed

  • what id be mostly concerened about is the sound levels which ruin most af focussing cameras in video mode.

Thats why everyone uses manual, you dont need AF if you know what youre doing.

    Is the Sony silent then?

I know the eos 550d is noisy.

If you have a firmware hack called magic lantern for the eos 550d it does lots of cool video things. Battery life would also be a concern if you shoot lots of video.

Does the sony have good battery life?

  • @zenoist2 well... both camera got their good and bad points. If you don't want AF on A55 just switch it to MF. And Yes! The focus made noise. Depend on what lens you are using and if you are using a wireless mic. I can say that the A55 lack of video control. Therefore, both camera got their good and bad point.

  • @blackdindang Thanks for the unbiased info. if magic lantern comes out for your camera it might be worth looking at.

. The only thing to do about the awful lens noise seems to be to get an external mic.. Ive been looking inrto rode videomic and it seems good.

  • @zenoist2 why would you say the 550D is noisy??? it is the lens that is noisy my friend... get a Canon 15-85mm IS USM very good for wide angle shots and is very quiet... quick focusing as well...

  • @zenoist2 and oh... if you are concerned about battery life... the canon EOS 550 D has a battery grip/ battery holder... you can put in 2 batteries at the same time... and that will extend the shooting time extremely long... try searching for those things here in youtube...

  • Sony wins by far!! Btw soo cute lady!! made me smile by far!! Sony all the way!

  • gorgeous ........and the sony is great to....lol

  • I suspected the EVF would be weird but I love it. Pitch / Roll axes sensors are very cool. What really makes this camera though is the continuous phase detection in live view. 10FPS - WHAT? Nice job Sony.

  • Looks good. But the image seems a bit distorted on the widescreen ratio.

  • Sony wins! The autofocus is great, just hate the motor noise they make.

  • why it changes the brightness every second ???I was about to buy it but this is not good :((

  • Tried this with my 550d. Works great. The focus remains on me. This test is somewhat flawed. Nice girl.

  • @StimpyJackal I think it's sour grapes that made you write that. You can make up anything you want to make you feel better but this video shows the truth.

  • good job Sony, but I'm NOT feelin' the EVF

  • @danapointtrainer try the A580 it has both EVF and MVF

  • @RxOLLER ummm I'm quite certain the a580 does NOT have a EVF

  • @danapointtrainer its up to you

  • good girl :)

  • And the winner is SONY!!!! Jeeee

  • Is there an Alpha 35 coming this year? Or should i go for the 33 with the €100 discount? Seems like it has been discontinued already :/

  • @Hyperdubs someone at sony mentioned there will be an A77, which will be a sped up version of the 55, with a higher rez viewfinder, should be interesting.

  • @DrPracticleHat but it'll start at a 900$ price point for sure, I'm afraid :d

  • @Hyperdubs i'd pay 900 for it though :>

  • @DrPracticleHat whatever great features it might have, i'd say that the 33 for €550 is a pretty good deal. :p

& i don't make money studying so i wouldn't spend 900$ on my very first dslr like camera :d

I'm after it especially for the video capabilities. Do you think the a77 would have signifficantly better quality video shooting? As for more advanced video controls, i'm hoping to see that coming with newer firmware for the 33 as well.

  • @Hyperdubs fair point, i don't think they said they were changing the video options with the 77, i guess they could be adding more manual controls for the video mode, but there isn't much i would still want outside of what's already in the 55, although i cant remember the main differences between the 33 and the 55 regarding video, i just bought the 55 for it's better shooting options.

  • @DrPracticleHat

Better shooting options? I thought that the only difference was the number of mpx (although both use the same sensor) & the 55 showing less noise at higher ISO's (which is a matter of post-processing likely, rather than it has something to do with the sensor)

  • @Hyperdubs there are quite a few differences in their stats, although not by any huge margin, the biggest difference is in the max continuous fps and the internal buffer, which is much larger on the 55, both of which played a big part for me as i use high fps continuous weekly.

    snapsort.com/compare/Sony_SLT-A33-vs-Sony_SLT-A55

is an overview of the stat differences.

  • @DrPracticleHat you made me indecided again lol :d

But it's safe to say that videoquality under normal conditions is about the same?

  • @Hyperdubs as far as i know yes, but the 55 is the better camera, even if they are equivalent video cameras if you see what i mean.

  • sony the best

  • i swear you are all a bunch of noobs! just get a point and shoot! noobs with credit cards do crazy things

  • Or buy a real video camera like the Sony NEX VG10 and stop fooling around with Canons in 'movie' mode. Seriously, DSLRS are wonderful cameras for stills, but from what I have seen, the lens designs are not even close to being acceptable for professional (or amateur) cinematographers. Sony has been in the video / motion picture biz for many years, and it clearly shows when comparing the output of a camera like the VG10 (~$US1.7K) or the NXCAM (~$US 4K). search for and watch the demos.

  • @goldenwestnewmedia VG10$1700 or T2i$650. I use my T2i as a backup to my hvx200. sometimes the $650T2i outperforms the $5000HVX. you'd be surprised how many cinematographers have HDSLRs as seconds and thirds on set.

  • i got the t2i because i do primarily videography. i know how to pull and follow focus. I also know about aperture and depth of field so you don't rely on autofocus. a t2i with magic lantern firmware FTW. i don't get why someone who doesn't care about manual settings and just wants an articulating lcd and autofocus would get a HDSLR. just get a $100 hd flip camcorder. noobs with money do crazy things

  • is the t2i the other name of 55d? cuz i cant find this cam with 55d name =/

  • @MsCrunchyTuna I'll tell you why. It is much more convenient and cheaper to carry one camera than 2. The HDSLR has far better video quality than your $100 flip camcorder. APS-C cameras have much less noise in indoor light than your typical small sensor camcorder. I bought an A55 because my primary purpose was to have a still camera that also can take high quality family videos. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean that there aren't legitimate reasons to own such a camera.

  • @tbcass why you trollin kid? you would choose the A55 hahaha. you obviously don't need manual settings. just point and shoot away. like i said, noobs with money do crazy things. i love when i'm out hiking around and some village idiot is recording his retard children with his A55 having no clue what half the settings are for. you are the reason these prosumer hdslr's are being dumbed down. any mental defect with a credit card thinks they need all of the features but know nothing of ISO

  • @MsCrunchyTuna I have been a photographer for about 45 years using SLR's for 42 of those years. Trust me I am far from a noob. I am not serious about video so no I don't need manual control that. I do however manipulate my stills manually both when photographing and while post processing. Since your profile says you're only 18 I suggest that I know far more about photography than you do. I was a photographer probably before your parents were born. Your condescension is unappreciated.

  • @MsCrunchyTuna I can't believe an 18 year old brat like yourself would look down on people the way you do. Those "retards" as you call them certainly know far more about life than you. You need a good spanking from your mommy little girl. When people resort to personal attacks like you do means they have no legitimate argument. I only resort to personal attacks like this to put you in your place.

  • @tbcass first your were mad because you don't know anything about your camera, and now you're mad because you're old and i'm not? you say you've been a photographer for 45 years? then why would you choose a sony?!?! and why the mid level a55? i saw your vids. after 45 years that was the best you could compose your shots? my life is only beginning and i know what's up. you only have 10 years left max and you haven't learned anything. you were the one that brought age up hahaha served!

  • @MsCrunchyTuna There are legitimate reasons for choosing the A55 over the 550D/T2i, so please stop behaving as if you're the only person in the world who's allowed to have an opinion about photography. I drive a Mercedes and would never recommend a Peugeot, but my mom (and many other women) drives one because she feels more comfortable and it's easier for her to park, and there's absolutely no problem with that.

  • @Demetrije for photography maybe the a55 is better, i don't know/care. this video is about VIDEO comparison and if you are smart enough to hack a T2i with magic lantern then there is NO comparison.

  • @MsCrunchyTuna Likewise, I'm probably not the best photographer in the world, but the A55's panorama mode, 10 frames/s, continuous AF and built-in GPS makes it the better choice for me personally. That doesn't mean that it is certainly the better camera (although many reviews really do believe that it is better than the 550D/T2i), but it does mean that it is the better camera for ME. So I think your condescension says more about your level of maturity than about your understanding of photography

  • @Demetrije what are you spamming at me for? people only get this butt hurt when the other person is RIGHT

  • @MsCrunchyTuna Please talk about photography or shut up. You're the typical impolite internet user who has a big mouth on the net but would probably say nothing in real life. If you want to react, please react with good arguments as to why the T2i/550d would be the better camera for ME. If you're not going to do that then just don't react at all, because you're making an ass of yourself...

  • @MsCrunchyTuna With my canon 60D i'm filming nightlife whenever prestige edm djs fly in...If you look at my playlist in my profile named " My work", you can tell i have trouble focusing in those packed, dark conditions. A lcdviewfinder is generally the solution, but i like to hold my camera above me to get the crowd...thats when i think.."if only my camera had phase detection even though it was made for noobs." Though yet again, i wonder if phase detection performs the same in low light..hmm

  • @BlackSupraC2 /watch?v=m28QmqnzMys&feature=player_embedded i guarantee you're not smart enough to hack this

  • @MsCrunchyTuna it adds autofocusing? how does it work? Nerd rage all you want and say i'm not smart, but i'm not going to risk my source of income to have some little tweeks..maybe on a t2i for the agc , iso, kelvin. But my 60d has all that, so the other shit isn't worth the risk.

  • @BlackSupraC2 yes it adds auto focus, you have google and wiki. no one to date has fried their camera with the hack but i would bet my hvx that you would be the first

  • She looks like Penelope Cruz :)

  • I know little about DSLRs, but reading some comments here make me wonder, Pros don't use Sony? Are Canon and Nikon the only way to go or what? Cause I am no pro at all, but I want to buy a great DSLR that also can record very nice HD video and gives me the most for my money (T2i or a55? or even maybe the a33?).

Hope someone gives me some advice. Thanks

  • @Aristowi There are many Pro's that do use Sony but remember that when you buy a camera you buy a system. Most pro's have been in business for a long time and have an extensive and expensive collection of lenses and accessories. To switch to another brand would mean scrapping that investment and spending a huge amount of money to switch brands. For the average user who will never invest $10-20,000 on specialized lenses Sony is just as good.

  • WOW , what a beautiful woman!

  • Sony it's making life easy for too.

  • should i buy this or the nikon 3100? im a beginer, so plzz someone help me. and why everybody recomends me canon or nikon, but no sony because isnt that good?? :/

  • @Xakon122 Canon and Nikon have been rivals in the hearts of pro photographers for a very long time. and sony has just started in the DSLR arena. the 550D and Nikon3100 are the best entry level DSLR camera as of the moment. both cameras are very good for beginners believe me... i just got my Eos550D last month and i have no regrets what so ever. If you are taking photography seriously get either a Canon or a Nikon.. but if you just want a decent camera get a Canon or a Nikon. LOL! cheers!

  • @Minakom2377 Nothing worse than some fanboy trying to give advice when they don't have any idea what they are talking about. How many cameras have you owned? How long have you been a photographer? I've been a photographer for over 40 years and I'm saying you are wrong. Stop being a Fanboy and refrain from giving advice about something you know nothing about.

  • omg! for over 40 year?!...so why do u sound like a kid?

  • @xxxXXXCH04XXXxxx Does stating my opinions based on my experiences constitute being a kid? Apparently you disagreed with my posts. Is disagreeing with your beliefs make me a kid? Posting an insult without substantive comment, which you are doing here, is very child like. :-)

  • @tbcass What??? from the looks of it you sound like you just got out of puberty... photographer over 40 years my ass... you sound like a sissy and a troll to me... you are defending a sony??? LOL!!!! that makes you sound like a sissy all the more... had you been a photogrpaher for over 40 years you would know that the sony just recently started their bid in the DSLR world... get a life and stop posing...

  • OMG i love her

  • Why I dont have autofocus during video recording in my 550d? And i cant change exposure or iso during recording...

  • The Sony technology *seems* nice, but having used essentially the same mirror tech on pro 70mm cameras I found that it was fragile, a dirt and dust magnet and oxidized fairly quickly.

Maybe Sony solved the problems, but *I* wasn't willing to spend $900 on a throwaway camera body, or $400 parts and labor for an out of warranty repair. I'll wait 5 years and see how it shakes out.

In the meantime I'll enjoy the 559D/T2i 18mm-135mm kit...

  • @SeattleSparker Nonsense.

  • @a1mint / Mike. Not nonsense, reality.

The mirror Sony's using is very old technology, I'd used it as a professional photographer back in the late 60's early 70's on a 70mm Beattie Gemini portrait camera and later in a Pentax experimental (I think it was a Pentax). Because they barely spray the mirror surface onto the backing it was *very* prone to failure.

I love the Sony technology, but I'm not a fanboy for Sony *or* Canon. If 2-3 years pass and Sony has no issues *then* I'll buy a Sony.

  • @SeattleSparker Thank you for not being a fanboy for whatever camera you bought. I've had a T2i for a couple of weeks before returning it. I'm mostly happy with the a33 I've got now. It's not perfect. I thought the low light sensitivity was slightly better on the T2i - BUT using manual settings I *think* I can equal the T2i performance *almost*, by a hair. The Sony tends to want to use 800 ISO indoors whereas the T2i tries harder to stay on 400 ISO on auto settings.

  • @SeattleSparker I do think the pellicle mirror takes away from the quality, but only very slightly. I also think that Sony (former Minolta department), is more of a front runner. There are a number of things they're ahead on.

As for dust collecting. There is a feature in it that is supposed to combat it. Indeed time will tell. But Sony seems to be very committed to this technology, and I believe they just announced that all their future cameras including the FF ones will use it.

  • @SeattleSparker So, my no means, is Sony a smaller or less significant or less worthy player than Canon in any way. I think Sony does more innovation than Canon does. Sony Sony, it's really Minolta. I bet it's mostly all the original people that used to work for Minolta that are still working for the camera department when Sony bought them out.

  • hot stuff!

  • i got both cameras.. from my dad and mine... canon 550 is really better.. i tell you

  • @J3ckyB3yb3h I've had both as well. The image quality was the same. The video was better on the Sony because of the video's autofocus.

  • Sure the Sony beats the Canon in af, but there are more things to the world then video shooting :P You also got normal photography :)

But as i always say : The camera that feels best in your hand i the best camera for you.

  • yay yay sony a55 super...

  • of course the sony is the better buy, for the consumer! But a viideographer who wants to grow into the proffessional field won't need autofocusing..the prosumer videographer will need the 550d because of its more concrete controls..i work at a camera store, and these companies make it so simple for me to convince people. "oh so its for family and recreation? Sony! Oh, u want to be a prosumer videographer? Canon t2i. Prosumer photographer? Nikon for intuitive quality, sony for sports!" winwin
