this is rad man i love it! have you ever heard of EATS TAPES? you would dig it check them out their from sf and they rule. they use 909's when they play live and have simialr visuals.
no I didn't use voltage protection. I know that I should...but everything has worked so far. I won't be surprised when it does break. The next one I do I will definitely add zener diodes or an opamp buffer of some kind.
Much better than most circuit benders... much, much better, at the end it's reminding me of some sort of bad acid trip or something... a bad acid trip where you cant stop the patterns, not that I would know anyhting about that... (rolls eyes back and forth), Acid is bad, don't do drugs unless it's marijuana, in which case do in moderation. But it does remind me of that.
This is pretty cool, but why are the majority of circuit benders weird old hippies who would rather wax about 'feeling the signal, maaan' than actually make music?
this is a video of me making music. I think a lot of benders feel rather than make music because making musical instruments and making music are two different interests and skill sets. I'm not sure about the old hippy thing. I don't know any hippy benders.
the inventer was a hippy, from ohio, supposedly, I don't get this man, but I will tell you that yours is the first I've heard that I might, perhaps, maybe, if hell froze over... call music. And yes, thats a complement, compared to the other shit I have heard.
@nickothompson Circuit Bending / instrument creation is not always about making music, mostly its about sound exploration, and from there you can choose to apply the sound how ever you wish. You've probably heard circuit bent instruments in many tunes and not realized it. Marco Benevento writes amazing music that incorporates all kinds of circuit bent sound.
I wonder is this also possible with famiclones (in my country it's veeery hard to spot original system, but the pirated ones are very easy and cheap to buy).
I now know the theme song of Hell.

the NES is NOT making any sound. I am using the NES ONLY for the visuals. The sound is coming from my modular synthesizer.

Did you simply run a clock signal into the patch bay to get that effect or use an e-switch to connect to via a gate signal?
synthmonger 2 years ago
just a clock into the patchbay.. simple!
