  • not human

  • Ma Long disliked this video.

  • all mates in uniform .. looks like shaolin ping pong

  • nice tabletennis......

  • In general, Ma long is more sophisticated and powerful player than Xu. But Xu's game tactics are more stronger than most of the player. Also Xu's very long and powerful forehand spin is very dangerous weapon for all players and he can give the fastest reaction in the game. In the future, Xu would be the number one in the world. But as far as I observe, Xu has not enough discipline and concentration against the top players. Therefore, this weakness brings him to lose even he catch the advance.

  • @Jon69Eric wait what? I am confused as to what you are asking? or trying to say. I wasn't trying to say penholder grip is anyway worse than shakehand, I actually think its probably better at the professional level. Right now Wang Hao is number 1.

  • Xuxin is a good player.

  • if xu xin had a backhand like wang hao, he genuinely would be unstoppable but there is a still a chink in his armour with not having a dangerous backhand.

  • Xu Xin is not that good

  • i thought ma long would win this o.o his forehand is just tew goooood. :P

  • I just love the way Xu Xin plays Table Tennis so much. One comment here: Xu Xin, being a pen holder, depends heavily on his forehand to score points. His forehand attacking power relies heavily on his incredibly fast footwork.

  • if xu xin was around during 38mm ball days with speed glue, he would be world champion for sure

  • This is the future of table tennis, the war of loop spin drive

  • these guys aren't human. they must have been genetically engineered or something. watch this video and compare their physical abilities to players from thirty years ago. these guys must be aliens

  • how come he's not in the top 3??

  • @XowntXihqX hes top 10 o.o

  • @DaFaiGai no shit

  • @XowntXihqX because ma long, zhang jike timo boll are all better than him

  • in singles table tennis, do you still have to cross your serves? meaning, do you have to serve to the diagonal box from your side to the opponents?

  • @jkim519 no you don't, only doubles

  • Haha, Xu Xin is like good shot! or something after the rally at 3:16

  • I love Ma Long's forehand!!! Beautiful form and power, both wind up and follow through. It kinda looks like a TT version of a finely honed Tiger Woods golf swing.

  • these new generation chinese players have godly skills

  • have you ever ever seen ma long lobbing?

  • Ma Long that day had actually not played his best and Xu Xin was very lucky with his lobs that were far from the table , you can see that at about 3/4 of the game his lob almost went out but had the slightest touch on the table but overall i think Xu Xin has talent to be the next world number 1

  • xu xin is definitely getting there...penholder at its best....one of the greatest uprising stars of china,....young, superbly athletic, with many more rooms for improvement...and he is beating almost everyone now....can't wait to see xu xin in London olympics...anyways...let's enjoy the sport....and peace yah all guys!!

  • Ma Long is soooooooo soooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooo FAST, if only he had attack more Xu Xin´s forehand, he would have won...

  • i hate it how all the other chinese players are just customizing their games to only beat ma long, even though they are not necessarily better players overall who will do better than ma long on the world scene. i think entry into the chinese national team should be based on tournament results against a wide range of players on the world scene, rather than 100% based on team trials, though it would make sense to still have team trials in a partially determining sense.

  • Xu Xin is very good to read the game and set up big forehands waaaay out on his backhand courner

  • NICE MATCH!!! is there a full match video of this one?

  • Oh, I thought this was going to be a court case... You know, like the state says "your honor we have a counterevolutionary imperialist puppet who seeks to subvert the state by reading the Harry Potter propoganda!" and the judge says "guilty- ten years" and on to the next Chinese "trial"

  • No Stiga clearly states that Xu Xin uses Boost TX and Stigs Offensive NCT Wood. But that is Stiga. Hurricane 3 would be to slow for Xu Xin

  • XDD

all chinese in the background with the same suit XDDDD

    looks funny

  • @AnsemDerWURST

    Would make me very nervous!

  • Yes !

Like those shaolin monks all in orange XD

  • Xu Xin's forehand is "hurricane 3" National version. The rubber has four angle before you cut it. The rubber is only made for Xu Xin in Double Happiness factory. Not too much people have it. I recommend regular players use Tenergy 05 or 64 instead of "Hurricane" or "Skyline", because butterfly has best technology for table tennis equipment.

  • very professional advice. I play with Tenergy 64 too.

  • Ma long vs. Xu xin .......maybe the Gold-medal game in London 2012!

  • @Schindlerakles

dont forget wang hao and zhang jike

  • what rubber he play on his forehand

    boost tx or not

  • Xu Xin has all the potential to become the best pen-hold player so far. He is athletic, and has good foot work, super strong forehand and pretty good back hand, good defense and ball touch. Let's see whether he can become a true star. I really like his style.

  • when you know how strong is ma long, and when you see how many difficulties ma long had against xu xin, you can imagine the level of xu xin.

ma long still remain the best but for how long?

  • I wish we could watch this in HD or HQ....Ma Long seemed as good as usual , and I think Xu Xin was very weak in backhand but he got the match with his unbelieveable forehand.....

  • Can't believe Xu Xin beat Ma long. Looks like Xu improved a lot since last and his penhold style that playing away from the table makes it even harder. Let's wait and see how long Xu can last.

  • @utahjai

xu xin backhand is still weak, but his forehand is as strong as ma long's one. if he keeps on playing at this level, sure he will be the next unbeatable champion.

  • Two great champions! Thanks for this matchs friend,5/5 of course!

  • xu xin favors his forehand way too much, even if it's powerful. against strong players like ma long, they will take advantage of his weak backhand.

  • both times that ma long lost to reverse backhand players, ma long was up in game points, but then the reverse backhand player came back to win. that match from a long time ago in ma long vs wang hao, it was ma long 3:1, but wang hao came back to win. and now, it was ma long 2:0, and xu xin came back to win.

I wonder if this style of losing to reverse backhand points to the psychology of playing a penhold player?

  • xu xin is 19. Ma long is 21?

woohoo. go reverse backhand!!! xu xin is like ryu seung min's forehand with ma lin's backhand, with wang hao's reverse backhand. ahahahaha. he's a monster!!!!

  • @J0kerofHearts

wait... but ma lin and wang hao both use RPB... i'm confused.

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt i think J0kerofHearts is referring to ma lin's penhold backhand. Ma lin was never a permanent RPB. Wang Hao always uses RPB but Ma lin uses RPB mostly when only attacking. ma lin blocks with regular penhold backhand. So i think J0kerofHearts is referring to it that way

  • @AngelDevil444

oh, right, ma lin's RPB isn't permanent, is it... riiiiggghht. forgot about that.

doesn't change the fact that xu xin is DA SHIT!!!

  • @J0kerofHearts

All he's missing is experience, which when he gets, will be the most "unfair" player.

  • @LightSpeed99999 dunno. He doesn't have the bloodthirsty "i will eat your soul" death eyes. If you don't know what I mean, look at ma lin or ma long in the end game of any world champion set. when xu xin wins, maybe it's like art, but when ma lin wins, it's a hungry angry wolf eating a baby sheep alive. look at xu xin when he's down on points too. it's like he just gives up at a point. but ma long's aggression almost thrives on being down on points.

  • @J0kerofHearts

True. Ma Lin, Ma Long, and Chen Qi look like they'll kill you with the ball.

Wang Hao and Wang Liqin look like they don't even have to try to beat you and they still will.

Xu Xin looks kind of chill and relaxed. If he developed that killer instinct, then he'll be the most "unfair" player.

"ma long's aggression almost thrives on being down on points." That made me think of Ma Long vs. Joo Se Hyuk recently. Joo had 3 match points and Ma Long beat him.

  • um, seriously, was dat real time speed or was it accelerated a bit? cuz they were flying...

  • ma long dont lose to samsonov in wttc,it was world cup.

  • At this moment i feel like Xu Xin is actually the second best, but all i know is all the matches posted on youtube. Still, he and Ma Long have never done any major tournament. Ma Long attended at WTTC and lost from Samsonov, which is pretty bad in my eyes. I have no idea how Xu Xin would hold up if he is under pressure.

  • yup, ma long lost to wang hao in the wttc in the semi finals, both ma long and xu xin are offensive players, but ma long tries to be aggressive with every ball that comes his way. I mean even his service returns at times are aggressive.

xu xin seems to be a bit more mentally calm and attacks those balls which are to his favour, and also DANG! he can return a ball from almost anywhere, see his matches during the English Open :D

  • Ma Long still needs to improve his BH seriously...

  • Insane fast! ma long is no.1 but xu xin should be no. 2 in the world

  • xu xin runs so much. lol

  • XU XIN adjusted his strategy

,Ma long was kind of at loss

  • extra-terrestrial ping pong... totally unreal. unreal speed, unreal skills, unreal reactions... how much faster can they still get?

  • OMG SO BEASTLY

  • Very Amazing !!!!

Thank you so much for fast uploading !!

  • this could be a tribute to ma long an xu xin

  • xu xin is really proving himself to be top 5 material. hes legit

  • Winning this trial is one of the hardest things in the world to do. First you have to be one of the best of the best to get on the Chinese national team, then you have to be one of the best of the best of the best to even get in this tournament, then to win it proves you to be the best of the best of the best of the best.

  • great, man!

thanks so much for uploading :)

  • If i see two chinese players play, I can't believe they still lose games against european players. They are so fast, technique is perfect, etc...

  • @kaikaz

    but they also practice together

  • What you mean? I dont think they really practice together. All chinese players have people they train against, but i dont think they actually practice together. Dont think you will see ma long training against wang hao or xu xin vs wang liqin etc. Chinese sparringpartners but no teammembers. Thats what I think not sure if its true

  • it's funny that after ma long lost this match, he was the commentator of some matchs :D

  • Unexpected ..

  • Mm, Ma Long lost more times of Xu Xin. He got problems with lefties.

  • hmm Ma Long still usually wins against Xu Xin. I am not sure its that Xu Xin isa lefty, but that he is just insanely good. He has improved so much in the past half year that other than Ma Long, I don't think there is anyone in the world who can beat him more than 50 percent of the time. Though he isn't ranked #2, he makes a good argument that he is probably the second best player in the world right now, in which case it wouldn't be surprising that Ma Long has the most trouble against him

  • Who knows, if the match had been best of 7 instead of best of 5 the outcome could have been the opposite of what it was, it was very close.

  • oh I totally agree, they both are just insane talents that the game can go both ways depending on who is having a better day

  • xu xin is 1 year younger than ma long i believe. ma long has experience playing against all types of players but xu xin still needs more experience, his style would be extremely weak against certain players and he'll need to learn to be flexible but still killer.

  • well I do believe that he has a lot of room for improvement, as every player does, I don't really see Xu Xin's style as that big of a weakness. I can't think of any player right now with a particular style of play that can really take advantage of some aspect of Xu Xin's game. Ma Long and Zhang Jike, are really the only two players right now who are capable actually making his backhand into a slight weakness. Against anyone else, Xu Xin is fast enough to move to his forehand

  • Xu Xin is young and he still is progressing. He will get in the top-3, I'm sure!

  • Oh I totally agree, I think he actually is more gifted than Ma Long or any other Chinese player right now. He is insanely quick and has long reach that gives him an advantage over any other player I can think of.

  • @scylla24 eventualy he will be good enough. like zhang jike, he could beat chiens players but they lose to a lot of euro jap korean players
