  • Cash was unique--a gentleman statesman of songs, with a greater ability than anyone else I can think of to understand seriously good songwriting, no matter where it comes from.

  • bruce is a fag john wasnt

  • @jdillard343434 lol, they/are both great singers...

  • just an empty feeling right now

  • check out this cover just search "chadgarretmusic" its like the sickest cover ive seen of this song

  • Cash the master BOSS

  • okay, this is a great song, but am I the only one that thinks he sounds like a pedophile?

  • this lacks the sensuousness of springsteen's version. just not as sexy and dark, less smooth

  • @burrrandy less smooth and sexy, I agree. but less dark, I certainly don't think so. Cash's voice is so naturally sombre, esp. at this stage in his life. And the accompanying music may sound too countryish to be dark for many people, but it's more stripped down and less beaty so that does help enhance the darkness in a different way. I don't think this tries to be sexy, it recreates a different feeling deliberately, like all Cash covers. But I'm a Big Springsteen fan so this isn't an argument:)

  • Well done! The Man In Black is very hot, but THE BOSS IS SEXY!

  • an eye for an eye we ALL BE BLIND

  • I got giddy when I saw JR made a version of this song. everytime I heard it I thought cash should have made it.

  • 2 styles différents, interprétations "super"

  • @tc030564

so bruce is the son of cash?

  • love both versions but springsteens is more soulful

  • I am Gay.

  • WOW.

  • Johnny Cash IS the ultimate badass.

  • i personally don't like this version, just because it doesn't appeal to me.

  • @captaindillo no one cares

  • amazing! this man can sing anything, he was older when he recorded this, i believe he got better with age, he died one of the best singers on earth

  • stop taking that troll shit to this classic music

  • what a cool guy

  • Bruce's original is awesome, his live version's even better, and there's a cover by Heather Nova that gives me goosebumps everytime.... But it's a really Johnny Cash-esque song too, so it's awesome that he realized that and covered it.

  • @crapolaist easy son (troll)

  • @rygelyngaard ii am eased up... troll!

  • @crapolaist no i think you are a piece og shit that doesnt show respect

  • @kawasaki4everKX lol you're a hypocrite... look at what you just said... you "piece of shit". i'm intitled to my opinion... you're the one that's not showing respect.

  • @crapolaist HA! i wrote piece OG shit s(o.o)z

  • Ummm No, Bruce pls!

  • Can this be found on an album/CD?

  • This take from Cash's version sounds diferent, is it live?

  • Best version.

  • johnny and bruce both farted and they both stank worser

  • the song is so good, Bruce or Jhonny cn't fail..lol

  • this sucks big time

  • @mocinho04 You suck more though.

  • The comment function should be disabled for some of these obvious morons...

Love this version! JC rules and Springsteen isn't so bad, either. ;-)

  • Who can say which one is best ? JC was the man and done a fantastic tribute to a fellow fantastic musician ! Sometimes I wish John was still around...

  • i like johnny cash but this isnt a good cover

  • Johhny is a pedifile! Jk..

  • omg this is GREAT!

  • Awesome! Springsteens version is awesome and cash´s one is fucking awesome too.

  • Johnny Cash or Bruce Springsteen bit like saying God or Jesus there both Great end of.

  • Bruce's version is better, i loathe myself for saying this :(

    sorry Mr.Cash

  • @Awesomatica - Listen to the Matt Andersen version?

  • I was looking for my songs. hence the other comment.

  • And why am I on here at all?

  • @ZarahRinuhar Listen and disect..

  • I like John's voice

  • Each one to their own, after all, it's not a competition. If you don't like it, goodbye then.

  • i love johnny cash... but this version sucks ass.

  • @ZarahRinuhar Ged classes are available.

  • I am absolutely obsessively mesmerized by Bruce's original version, but I do love the way Cash says desire.

  • I personally prefer the Springsteen version, but this version is also fantastic. I don't think it's really fair to compare the two, though, since they have different styles.

  • @MaRiAtheHeDg3hOg listen to john mayar version awesome song

  • @faklanaboy but cash is always special...

  • Springsteen has more of a flow, Cash just fucking throws it at you....Like comparing a chunk to a slide

  • @TJDlll No it isn't..

  • @MajorBiz2008 jyeeeah, jyeah it is

  • That was cool of a legend Showin love to another legend. . I'm young but appreciate good music when I hear it -thumbs up-

  • wow awesome but can't seem to find this on i-tunes, is it on any CD album ?

  • I thought only Bruce could do this .once again Mr Cash touches my heart from beyond the grave!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mudrydyr John Mayer!

  • So nice amazing his Voice

  • wich one wrote the original

  • @ojyumm542 bruce. It was inspired by Johnny cash. And Johnny recorded this as a tribute.

  • Think this version by Johnny Cash is really good.

  • R.I.P Mr. Cash ...today is your day

  • Fan de Johnny Cash

  • eeeh is this song about raping a 7 year old???

  • This isn't up to what I'd expect of Johnny Cash. I guess even the best can miss one.

  • lol i'm on fiiiiire :) em. :p

  • he shouldn't have even bothered. cash is great but compared to springsteen's version this is painful to listen to

  • this is bruce`s song NOBODY can cover it

  • regardless of johnny (which i love!) this version is horrible..

  • regardless of johnny (which i love!) this version is horrible..

  • Damn I feel for anybody that hasn't heard Waylons version.. As a fan of both legends.. Waylon absolutely murders Johnnys version... I mean its not even close

  • True Legend.

  • thats pretty cool Johnny Cash covered a Springsteen song, but Springsteen performs it waaaaaaaaaaaay better XD

  • Damn, it sounds like it was made for him.

  • johnny cash sounds like a dirty uncle when he's had to much to drink while babysitting (so my baby sitter says).

  • that is like the best comment on you tube lol especially when he says (HAY LITTILE GIRL I GOT A BAD DESIRE)...LOL

  • The way he says "I'm on fire" is so sharp and direct, that it leads me to believe he is literally on fire... lmao

  • I love Johnny Cash so much, it hurts.

  • Johnny Cash with a Bad Desire That's just Johnny and Good Country.

Bruce, He can take you Higher. Rock and Roll

I think all of us little girls are blessed to have both Johnny and Bruce.

  • Johnny or Bruce? Mayer. Yes.

  • It kind of sounds like Neil Diamond in the beginning, no? I love it!

  • springsteens version is defiantley sexier and makes you feel bad this is the cashinator its amazing :)

  • Fucking retards arguing whose version is better. They're both better.

  • @TheWitchOvAgnesi Damn straight, well said! That's the beauty of the tribute - every artist that has genuine talent - like Cash - puts his or her signature on it - you either get that or you don't.

  • @TheWitchOvAgnesi Hahaha "they're both better." Well said.

  • @tbdeawh LOL ;-)

  • @TheWitchOvAgnesi but ur forgeting if both r better then none is better and they both rip open a portal in the universe where johny and bruce come out and engage in the act of MORTAL KOMBAT which inturns makes my anus bleed and i dont want that to happen thank you

  • @PIZZAMIKE123456789 LOL, you really, really need a constructive hobby. Like model building or something.

  • @TheWitchOvAgnesi True that Witch....I think Johnny did this out of respect for Bruce....and Bruce did the same. Typical tard muffins just want to compare...its all about how they share!!!

  • hot.

  • If anyone is interested listen to Tom Russell's version. I'm sure you will enjoy.

  • IM ON FIRE!!!!!!

  • @LibTyrMatrix2011 Sorry you don't like it, I respect the fact that you don't like it, but you come off as an asshole with no taste in music, that's just the impression I'm getting, and I'm sure a few people here will agree with me

  • Anyone know what cd this is from? Please let me know.

  • @LibTyrMatrix2011 FUCK UU! u disrespectful little fuckin tramp! go die in a hole so you dont piss anyone else off you stupid little nobhead!! :@

  • @DTDproductionz well be pissin in his hole when hes dead

  • Cash did a version of this on one of the American albums with Rick Rubin that sounded much moodier than this one. It was more stripped down and made Cash's weathered voice the focus of the whole thing and it was way better than this version. I wish I could find it on here. Maybe someone will post it. (please)

  • pedafile

  • I like both versions, but Johnny Cash's version is way better

  • This version was boring, even though I like Cash. Sounds like something from an elevator in a mall.

  • Bruce in one hand and Johnny in the other. They're both exceptional in their own way, and I never not liked a single one of either man's songs. Why not take both?

  • This is after he fell into the burning ring of fire.

  • Amazing version. Thank you for sharing.

  • No one can sing this like Bruce but I like Johnny singing this as well

  • Bruce Springsteen all the way, his version feels like it has greater depth to it and I prefer his voice/music.

  • Amazing...I like both bruces version aswell as this one.

  • voll die nach mache der kanns net singen

  • Early in his career he was the only one who scheduled the gigs for the band. As such, he got the money when paid and distributed it out to the other band members. They started calling him "The Boss" as a joke.

The nickname "The Boss" really caught on though in Asbury Park, NJ who were overwhelmed with his talent. They heard the nickname and assumed it was because of his level of skill and talent. This was in the70s him from there. At first he didn't like the nickname but he has grown to accept it

  • i like johns and johnny cash's versions cuz i think for a song like this it sounds better on acoustic

  • I grew up listening to Bruce and his version is (or was ) my favorite. You have to check out Matt Andersen doing this, its awesome!! And don't judge a book by it's cover, this guy can play even better than he sounds, and he's some homegrown Canadian talent. Trust me

  • I couldn't like Johnny Cash more.

  • I have to say Johnny's arrangement is far more enjoyable than Springsteen's version.

  • Johnny is amazing. But for some reason I have to pick Bruce! Bruce sounds creepier but I like it.

  • johnny cash liked bruce .. He was an artist that came out an excited him about music again .. just a shame at the time johnny was not having any success an a real shame bruce didnt do something with johnny

  • no1 does it like johnny

  • Johnny vs Bruce arguing - who cares? they are both brilliant

  • @callicolady brilliant is an understatement :)

  • @callicolady I would like your comment but then it would exceed 69 likes, and 69 is where it should stop lol

  • @callicolady Thank You...The Truth.......

  • sauber!

  • rest in peace johnny

  • bruce sucks johhny is king

  • yes....it's official....there is a song Johnny Cash can not

    do a good job singing.

  • @EastofForever I think he could sing it amazing.....well not now.......but IMHO the arrangement is horrible.

  • as far as i know of by johnny cash yes i think it is

  • @ricdmt101 This version is Johnny Cash, but I think Springsteen wrote it :)

  • was this the original?

  • @brand0 No Springsteens the original ; )

  • @brand0 Wow

  • @TomFromJersey

    that's what she said

  • @brand0 You really didn't know this is a cover?

  • @TomFromJersey

I wasn't completely sure...This just sounded really old, like it could be a possibility. Not a great cover, I like the original. And no, I'm not big into Springsteen. Dude calls himself "The Boss"...not for me.

  • @brand0 Well.. No, he only calls himself ''The Boss'' when he's joking about it. Actually he has said that he doesn't even really like the nickname.. Please get your fact straight next time.. :-)

    Bruce is great!

  • @brand0 he didnt call himself the boss the e street did and bruce openly says he hates dickhead

  • @itabuttrose I'm sure he got the nickname because of all the nights he played on the shore with the bar bands and the audience would say ''that guys the boss of the stage''?

  • @brand0

    The Boss off course

  • Wow!! Great version by Johnny Cash! Thanks for sharing this!! Awesome!

  • The thing I like about Springsteen's version is how he sings "fire" and everything he rhymes with it as one syllable...this version is decent, but I like the original.

  • you know i love every cover that cash did but this one. cuz he really sounds like a dirty old man. still the greatest

  • Bien plus q'une reprise,un bijou.

  • He is still the man!!!

  • I love this. Johnny Cash = love.

  • Johnny was one of the best, but this sucked.

  • Great rendition!

  • Love Johny, long live his memory!

  • im on fire john mayer look it up

  • @zuton66

    agree, he totally mangled it

  • not bad

  • JC does this brilliant

  • Don't really want to say this at all, not in the slightest...... but this is shite

  • @zuton66 Colourful

  • And Ive Been Everywhere!

  • Johnny has a unique voice. It doesnt fit too many things, but this and Solitary Man are perfect. He is great.

  • I'm a massive Cash fan - but this version comes no where near The Boss'. When Springsteen sings it it is so moody and sexual. This sounds almost like a hymn!

  • @DonskiBeat1 better by waylon

  • @DonskiBeat1 danielhassixstrings a youtube user sings the best version i've ever heard.

  • @DonskiBeat1 You said it best

  • i like johnny cash more than bruce springsteen but honestly i think i like springsteens version better, that beign said this is still a good version!

  • Johnnys voice got better with age this just proves it. :)

  • @MisterMasturbator He did Highway Patrolman too, that's worth a listen

  • Johnny Cash is so freaking good, I love his music! <3
