it's a mix. some levels are large and open-ended while others are straitforward. most are straitforward, but it's not bad really, there are secret areas to discover and forks in the road much like super mario world. but it really is a fantastic game!

No she isn't. The reason that she rides those bikes is because she is a heavy-weight character (well, I think she is more tall than heavy, but oh well...), and most villains of the Mario series are heavy-weights.

the design in this level is one of the best game designs ever! But the level was easy, I beat it the first time without losing any lives.

i LOVE that they've taken the main elements [music, game obstacles [rotating fire lines, skeletal koopas, etc.] from all the classic mario games and thrown them into this one! awesome!

i liked the ending, but the final boss (just like every final boss out there) sucked. i always expect a big, epic, huge final boss and never get it. it's always a bunch of "been there done that" bosses strung together.
