i think this beautiful little filly deserves some credit and love for her effort and not to mention putting her life on the line everytime she raced, nevermind the class or quality she raced against, but atleast give her love for she ran when they asked her.

Someone needs to study a little more before he goes around making comments. It is very obvious he doesn't understand how races are run,judging by his blind adherence to just final times. Besides,he has been on both sides of this issue,saying final times showed Easy goers greatness(he was one heckuva horse by the way),and that they meant nothing when it came to Landeluce. Just like the QH issue,he is all over the map. Just keep yapping,your digging yourself a deeper,and deeper hole.

CONT- Pepper finished the mile in 1:38 & change. In order for her to have a "fast" time she would have had to run the final 1/4 in 22&change(thats assuming you consider 1:35 fast,if your thinking 1:34 we are now talking a 21 final 1/4,not very likely,not even Dr. Fager could do that) Remember the early fractions dictate the final time,which means time isn't always a marker for class. Pepper has done it again,on 11-09-2008 she went out and won a stakes race for mares and fillys worth almost $180,000. She just keeps hitting the wire first,and whether some care to admit it or not she is a perfect racehorse,18 for 18. Think about it, it is the impossible dream come true,every breeder,owner,trainer dreams of getting one like her. They know they do not grow on trees,and they appreciate them like no other. Thats love of horses and racing no matter where they run.

Let me correct someone on something. SLOTS= a booming state bred program,huge amounts of purse money,a rapidly improving core of breeding stock,both studs and mares.Owners of state breds who get rewarded by the multitude of NM bred races. Thats what slots have done for the racing industry in NM.

Someone is wailing SUNLAND PARK??????. Well its all about $19 MILLION DOLLARS IN PURSE MONEY FOR THE 08-09 WINTER MEET. ZIA GAVE OUT $2 MILLION IN PURSES ON 11-9-08! Sounds like 4th or 5th class racing huh? So what if we have slots,it seems some have an aversion to casino slots,get over it. This person has attacked NM and the whole western USA as crappy 4th and now 5th class racing. I have only defended my state's racing program. I love watching all levels of racing,from Grade 1's to $5,000 claimers. Its all about the horse,and doing what they were bred to do. Class is demonstrated by many horses everyday in every state and every country. The racehorse is a most noble creature,and thats why I've invested my life into it. The difference between me and you ruffchamp is simple, I love the racehorse,no matter where he/she races. You only think horses who run in NY are worthy. The amount of graded SW's is a small percentage of the horse population(roughly 2-3% are graded stakeswinners),I'm for all of them right down to all the hard knockin blue collar runners all over the world. WithoutTHEM you wouldn't be able to sit and watch all those great racehorses you have claimed to have watched. Remember that Ruffchamp!

Finally Ruffchamp,whether you want to except it or not,Peppers Pride has done something no other horse in North American history has ever,repeat ever done. That is to go out and start 17 races lifetime and win every single race. You can wail about how she just ran in NM,blah,blah,blah,but buddy she has done something none of your GREAT GRADE 1 NY RACING GODS has ever done. Cont- Our purse structure is very healthy overall(though some improvement is still needed),all though Pepper is obviously way above the norm,she isn't the only quality horse in this area. Nice video. I am always glad to find someone else who is appreciative of Peppers Pride's accomplishments; it's so annoying when people try to discount her record. It's hard to win that many in a row, regardless of the competition. So she's no Cigar--- she doesn't have to be---being Peppers Pride is enough.

No one who loves racing could fail to appreciate her accomplishments. She is a great story, a wonderful racehorse who is handled by good horsemen. 18 wins is 18 wins. Cigar, et. al., took their shots at more than 17 and couldn't close the deal. She did...with style. And 18 looked easy also. As you say...she's no Cigar, but then Cigar was not the win machine that Pepper's Pride is. I hope she racks up a few more before she retires and really puts it out of reach.
