  • funny how the seats in room for the presentation he's giving look absolutely uncomfortable. I mean, no backs on the benches.

  • I hope these seats come with a pack of condoms. :)

  • If you do decide to spalsh out and pay extra to fly Air New Zealand, then don`t be surprised if you end up on a completely different airline through the joy of code-sharing. Perhaps one where you could have brought the same ticket at half-price.

  • I don`t know how Air New Zealand can change Economy seating when they don`t even have economy tickets. Surely, when an `economy` ticket on air new zealand costs twice as much as a business class seat on Jetstar, it isn`t really economy. Just for example, return ticket to New Zealand from Tokyo, in July or August costs about $8000. Yes, eight thousand dollars.

  • Would buying 3 of these seats be cheaper than buying a business class ticket?

  • OK I've got a question @6:54 when the guys are sleeping. What happens if the person in front of you have their seat Reclined like in normal economy seats? The Girl "in the video" would have the back of the seat in front of her in the face?? Isn't that a negligence in Design?

  • What should i do if the women sitting next to me mind sharing the same bed o_O

  • slept in one and it was the best sleep i ever got on a plane ever. and btw it comes with special seatbelts for sleeping in it.

  • Wow, I wished I had that when I went to NZ via LA to the Cook Islands and after a 5 day break to Auckland.

  • you'll be kicking and bumping the seats in front of you. I think this arrangement sukks

  • Does the couple always have to sleep like that..?**cough**

  • typical fat American couples won't be able to use this arrangement, and in classic styling they will sue for discrimination and civil rights violation.

  • Question... in the event of an emergency, how would the life vest be reached... based on that design, it is obvious that the extended foot rest lower section would some how prohibit getting to the vest with ease... unless the vest is stored in a new (area not mentioned) section...

  • nice eecraft

  • At least when something goes wrong in the air, the seat doesnt become a strap of death and people get to experience what its like to be in a washing machine :)

  • I flew to New Zealand and had a sky couch. It was ok. Seat belts are separate extensions that attach to the regular belt and then to an attachment point on the back of the middle seat in front of you. Not very comfortable to wear. Also, the seat belts on your seats poke you in the back while lying down. It was not too bad though, but much better for people who are 5'6 and under. At 6'2 I could not stretch out enough. also, the price was withing $200 of a business class seat.

  • there's gonna be a lot of fucking. I approve!

  • @gairero under the sheets lol

  • The art is to provide as many seats as possible with the right balance of comfort vs economy.

Personally, I wouldn't mind just laying down the whole time. I'd eat before boarding and just nap all the way through. That is, if the flight is less than 12 hours of course.

  • But you can't stretch right out unless you are really short, plus ANZ seats are more narrow than most other airlines as they offer 10 across on the 777 whereas most other operators offer only 9 across. Nice idea but I don't think it will work.

  • next to some babe "why dont you say we make this into a bed?"

  • The staggered seating was by far the best design, just put a privacy screen on each seat so your not looking at someones sweaty feet and it would be the best !

  • The best bit of this is watching the photographers at work.

  • i dont think its a great idea.. kinda weird actually..

  • he said pissengers

  • @planedec50 hahaha!

  • @planedec50 haha when?

  • Yes! Now it'll be much, much more easy to join the mile high club!

  • How can you wear your seatbelt when sleeping?

  • @quwers exactly, that's a bit stupid!!

  • @quwers they just don't. you dont need to wear seatbelts throughout the whole flight. do they have seatbelts in the bathroom? do they have gaurdrails in the aisles? no.

  • @Gartley45 SO when you fall asleep and there's turbulence.

  • @quwers You don't have to wear it when you're in the air.

  • @blinky123abc Except when the seatbelt sign comes on.

  • @quwers There are special seatbelts equipped on the skycouches. You can see them here /watch?v=IaAOLTLA6f0&feature=related

  • @quwers who would even want to..lol

  • @quwers you fuck also wth seatbelt ?

    LOL

  • @quwers well, you won't sleep when you take off and land right ;)

  • @quwers Knowing airline companies they'll find away

  • It would cost the same if couple comes with a child because children pay 50% of adult fare. Airlines figure why not make the couple and families happy. If a couple comes then the airline is taking a loss since they could sell that seat for full adult fair, instead of 50% of adult fair. If it is a family option , then they are not taking a loss making a family confortable. The order on screen option is great idea. It is a great idea to make familys confortable, on those long trips.
  • Interesting. 3rd seat @ 50%- not a great way to make money, but certainly a customer pleaser! Love the order on screen option!

  • looks like a neat way to injure lots of pax all at once.

  • hahaha spooning 3:28

  • for eeecraaft XD

  • and with that seating option comes a free of charge membership to the Mile High Premium Club...

  • Definitely a game changer. No other airline is offering this at the moment. I would pay that little extra for more comfort. And the ordering system is a great idea. Innovative little company.

  • nice airline =) ; she hate him: 6:25 hahahaha

  • what if you arn't a couple and ur with a stranger?

  • @TLwalshz Then you are not the target group at which they are aiming.

  • lol

  • can't wait til the skycouch hits the USA!

  • @alohaoh

I don't think it will since they don't serve

    meals in economy.

They may put it in Business class and

First is slowly disapearing and Business

is taking over so it will be economy and

business. The rich don't fly on public

    jets, they go private jet.

  • @The391956 Air New Zealand, like most south pacific airlines, still offer a full service in Economy. Full Hot meals etc. Just like in premium economy and Business class.

  • Good idea if you are as a couple since i would think most of Air New Zealands flights are over night and long haul?

  • @19bootsy68 i know for a fact all flights to hongkong leave at midnight i'm not sure about the l.a ones but im pretty sure they are night flights too! so it is a great idea

  • Encouraging "mile high club" inductees huh? Nice!

  • Haha exactly what I thought.. god I have a sick mind

  • SAFETY???? I DONT THINK SO!!!

  • @Saberpride73 The FAA certified the sky couch to be safe, so it is some how!!!

  • I like it a lot. My Girlfriend and I fly Air New Zealand regularly as I am a Canadian and she is a Kiwi.

This is perfect for the long flight from Vancouver to Auckland.

  • or from london to auckland

  • @ytzpilot - what are you suggesting lol ;)

  • oh sure, the 3 year old and her petite mum are just fine. No one over 5 feet 10 is ever properly accommodated in the horrid coach seats offered by most carriers. are you listening legacy airlines? JetBlue and Virgin America are eating your lunch.

  • virgin blue* jet america* not jet blue and virgin america

  • @UhateMacsToo NO dukegreg is on about [JetBlue] and [Virgin America]... they are younger airlines in the states. Look it up

  • @dukegreg

You are right the coach seats are such

    horrible accommodations for anyone

over 5 feet and much worse for those

of 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet.

They charge for food now on all flights

even long domestic U.S. flights and

    they charge for baggage.

  • Interesting! Thanks for sharing Kent! ( :

  • Can you please uppload some vids of you flying the plane, like showing some interesting controls in the cockpit?

  • very interesting! i've read about this a few days ago... nice to see this video presentation... thnx
