The "Good Ol' South," where systemic racism threatens to choke off the meager lives of blacks whose struggle on a daily basis with neighborhood terrorism, illegitimate births, excessively high unemployment and abnormally prevalent narcotics infestations exist. How did it ever acquire the title of being good? It's only pervasively good... for the ones who coined the phrase. :-/
Im sorry I have to say this. WSFA has always been on the forefront. In 1985 their set and graphics were "major market" and not "cheap" especially for a "small market".
WSFA has grown with the times. They were on top of it in 1985 and they are on top of it today. There is a reason why they are the leading station in Alabama and one of the best in the South.
WOW! WSFA looks really cheap, but it has come a long way. That music theme been there throughout the late 90s. Mark Thornhill who now anchors the news at WAFF-TV 48 NBC-Huntsville, which is owned by Raycom which ownes WSFA too!
WSFA does not look cheap. It was 1985. Their graphics were fresh for 1985, the music fresh for 1985.
They have come a long way because they kept with the times...its 24 years later! Everything has come a long way from 1985 and WSFA stayed up to date (on the air) even though they are STILL in their original studio building.
Bob and Rich haven't aged a bit!

Do you have a WSFA newscast from when they unveiled the major-market set and graphics?

Bob Howell actually was the one who fell for a short stint. Rich Thomas always did the weather.

After Mark Thornhill left, they got Jeff Shearer to replace him.
