In order to become one, he would have first renounce his US citizenship, which he could not do as a child. He used his US passport to travel to Pakistan. Based upon what law and legal precedent exists, and Natural Born Citizen is a citizen who was born within the jurisdiction of the United States of TWO US Citizens. So, those anchor babies with Mexican parents can't become President, legally, even though they are born in the US. There's no proof that Obama's biological father was ever a US citizen...

What most people don't know is that his step-father couldn't admit Obama to a school there unless he was a citizen of Indonesia. As Obama's adoptive father, he can change Obama's citizenship, legally speaking. Once that happened, Obama lost his natural citizenship status (if he ever had it to begin with).

As a citizen of Indonesia, he can become a citizen of the US again, but he would never be able to regain his "Natural Born Citizen" status again (provided he had it). Obama was born in Hawaii (US soil). He didn't move to Indonesia until age 6. He was never an Indonesian citizen. In order to become one, he would have first renounce his US citizenship, which he could not do as a child. He used his US passport to travel to Pakistan. It was not illegal for Americans to go there in 1981 (when he went there).

@clarity023, the real problem is that most people don't look at what the legal definition of "Natural Born Citizen" really is. Based upon what law and legal precedent exists, and Natural Born Citizen is a citizen who was born within the jurisdiction of the United States of TWO US Citizens. So, those anchor babies with Mexican parents can't become President, legally, even though they are born in the US. There's no proof that Obama's biological father was ever a US citizen...

@clarity023, let alone a citizen of the US at the time of Obama's birth, which is required by law. The justification for McCain is based upon the fact that both of his parents were US citizens and that he was technically born on US Federal property.
Let's just say that Obama's biological father was a US citizen the day of Obama's birth and that it was actually in Hawaii (which is still debatable). Obama was, as a matter of fact, adopted by a Muslim father.

What most people don't know is that his step-father couldn't admit Obama to a school there unless he was a citizen of Indonesia. As Obama's adoptive father, he can change Obama's citizenship, legally speaking. Once that happened, Obama lost his natural citizenship status (if he ever had it to begin with).

@clarity023, I don't think that citizenship law is still active in Indonesia today, but at the time Obama was known to have lived there, this was the law. As a citizen of Indonesia, he can become a citizen of the US again, but he would never be able to regain his "Natural Born Citizen" status again (provided he had it). The reason is that he would be treated as an foreign immigrant because that's what he is.
Obama also got foreign student aid money while he was in collage.

Because, if Obama's Father wasn't a US citizen, then Obama had dual citizenship. Kenya was a colony of the UK, which means that his father owed allegiance to the British Crown. The Laws there force Obama to have the same allegiance.
Technically, there are ways around this for his father, but there's no proof that these measures were taken.

Only solution would be to provide an actual Birth Certificate, not a low-resolution Statement of Birth form which proves nothing. So why does Obama fight so desperately hard to prevent the American people from seeing the actual document which would put this issue to rest?
Answer obviously is that the actual Birth Certificate contains information about Obama's past that he CANNOT AFFORD to reveal.

As history is evident of American immigration and also know that there were few caste/tribes of native indians who were here when Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492. Do you think if he was white that people would question his citizenship? @SexSteakSoda That is bullshit. Every other President we ever had was white and they all were required to prove they were natural born citizens. It is an original part of the constitution. So when you ask, "Do you think Obama would be questioned if he was white?", the answer is yes. Every President is questioned and they all submit documentation. Obama is the first ever to refuse (not even to the courts) and spend almost 1 million dollars sealing the records.

PS Yeah Obama did pass an FBI background check. His background was investigated by not only the FBI but also the free press which is what keeps every American of any background free. that birth certificate is bull. why isn't it showing the serial number. and that is a 2007 Hawaiian birth certificate design with a 2008 Hawaiian stamp. each state is required to change their design every year to prevent frods from doing what Brock Obama did. and why is it that for race it says African. to and especially back then it would say negroid. and yes john McCain was born in the c annal zone in panama. at lease that was considered a part of America. but not good enough.

The original is kept on file by the County in which you were born. To be eligible to be President, you must be born in the US or one of its Territories. Your parents' citizenship plays no part in your eligibility unless you were born abroad. Try to get your facts right next time.

As a US Citizen Obama is qualified to be a US Senator, if the Senate accepts dual citizens. Obama is a native born US/British dual citizen. He was born with mixed citizenship. Article 2 Section 1 Clause 5 requires a native born person with pure USA citizenship.

Because Obama already submitted a State issued, Certified document that was legally sufficient for him to get on the ballot to begin with.
The COLB contains the following statement:
"This copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding. [HRS 338-13(b), 338-19]"
Let me add that the the Hawaii DOH has stated that the COLB is recognized by the US Supreme Court as an official birth certificate meeting all federal and other requirements.
