GO TO TRIAL!!! Prove that the loan company gave you a fraudulent loan!! The loan company never had money in a vault to loan you...The company just typed a number into a computer. The loan is null & void.
I never went to college, I took a job as early as possible and worked when most people would be in school. I saved as much money as possible during that time and invested in the stock market after the crash. I now own a home and don't work.
Had I decided to go to school. I would have nearly $100,000 dollars in debt be paying $1,100 a month for the next 30 years and bringing home less than minimum wage after debt payment.
It disgusts me that getting an education is a poor life decision.
@dinche1 They offer you the chance to request a hearing but they can deny your request. They wrote me back and told me they denied my hearing because it wasn't necessary. They made a decision on their own--without a hearing! It's unconstitutional, of course, but that's what they did.
Education is FREE in many many countries as different as Germany, all of the State Universities are free, they are called Fachhochschule, in Venezuela education is completely free from primary to doctor degrees. Purrgirl, I dont know where you are now, and my heart bleeds at watching your video. Really, leave the US and go to Venezuela or Germany. Your life in the US will turn hell. Get into an NGO to go to Latinamerica and that way you can get started.Never pay back your debt, never return to US
@GoldmannSucks Yes, I'd leave the country in a heartbeat, as I think the US is going down like the Roman Empire, but it's not so easy. One needs a Visa, money in the bank, etc. But that is a good point. Most developed countries do provide university-level education for free. That's why so many countries are ahead of the US in education and progress these days.
While I was studying at Harvard I met countless people from the Harvard Business School. They were about to graduate and they were sending applications for an internship. 30 years ago, the Board of Directors of the largest US companies were waiting at the gates of the HBS for students to come out and offer them an entry level job of 100.000 dollars. Today, the students step on each other to get an unpaid internship. That is capitalism. My advice. Go to Venezuela. Never return to the US.
Career Education Corporation which owns IADT, AIU, CTU, Le Cordon Bleu, Sanford-Brown and others is being investigated by the Federal Government and could close more schools.

I'm going to get rid of my social security and I'm not going to go to school...it only holds us as collateral for this place...so yes, I'm not getting into anymore trouble with this scam crap
I hope you get better, I really do, I hope you get something good to come to your life.
I'm sorry for your predicament. I'm in a somewhat similar boat, though my debt is quite a bit less. Still I'm feeling the crunch. Plus, I have people breathing down my neck to go back to school and finish my degree. I refuse to. Thank you for posting this, and I sincerely hope things begin to look up for you. Keep your chin up!
Did this happen to you? Investigations are under way throughout New Jersey. Take a stand today. Visit newjerseyconsumerprotection (dot) com and file a complaint.
PurrGrrl, I feel sorry for you and perfectly understand your predicament. Have you ever considered getting a job outside of the US? I've lived in a few East Asian and South-east Asian countries like South Korea, Phillipines etc and there is a good demand for quality English teachers. I presume English is your major. Of course, the currency value there is less and so it will still take many years to pay off the loans but the job security is good. U'll have to sacrifice a bit on standard of living
I like your ironic feeling, you are cute also. But u are telling the sad truth. No degree can guarantee inmeditate employment after graduation and the student loans are pushed to students desperate for an education not knowing the consequences of their acts. SL does not have the protection of other loans meaning that the lender can do whatever they want with them since you can file bankruptcy. That is endless power to the lender. Suicides for this reason are many, I hope not to become one.
ouch you get burned in the states. in canada the loan is written off after 13 years. there is also loan forgiveness programs, and I am sure they cannot touch your social security checks since they cannot be garnisheed for any reason.
ONLY IF YOU CONSENT!! You get a letter like that and write on it. "Offer Denied". In BIG RED LETTERS and then sign it with the word "Without Prejudice - All Rights Reserved". This way you do not accept their jurisdiction or authority over you and they will have to sue you in open court. IF you fill it out and send it in, you are CONTRACTING with them and the contract carries the full force of law. They are asking your permission to screw you. Fill it out... Bend over.
Omigod, omigod, even being homeless.......what a fraud, what a fraud. What if we (all those who are not wanting to become medical doctors, lawyers, nurses, surgeons or teachers........I mean come on, do you think half the population can afford the pre-education it takes to become a medical doctor just for one to validate college for all) stopped going to college? I loved my major but did not need an institution to know any of it.
If you want to get laid (and it's expensive porn) go to college. If you want to get educated, get a library card. If you want to be homeless and not get laid, go to college with the intent of studying.
Not everyone can major in "science or medicine," and not everyone who majors in those fields is employed. Many college grads with so-called practical degrees, like nursing for example, have been laid off in this economy. There's never a guarantee in the US that one will obtain a high paying job with a college degree--no matter what one's major. It's fascinating to me that people who are unable to form coherent, legible sentences are the ones who criticize us college grads, lol!
Sallie Mae is SCUM! STAY AWAY! They can garnish your wages, YOU CAN'T get out of these loans, not even in Bankruptcy! They own you and can get away with murder! PIGS! PIGS! PIGS! If you do not repay them before you die, they can garnish your estate! How can you sleep at night when American students are trying to better themselves? SHAME ON YOU SALLIE MAE!! please also google screw sallie mae, you will find a site dedicated to them! WAKE UP AMERICA private student loans SCAM!
Cramsa, not sure what u mean by "CRIDIBLE"& basket making" isn't taught in college, lol. Your comment is barely legible. My guess is u hadn't gone to college? And u obviously aren't an English major. Liberal Arts majors r needed in r society, as ur post clearly demonstrates. We need ppl who can communicate well, ppl who can read & write well. What do you mean by "use cash or money"? Huh? It costs over 30K per year to attend most colleges today. Most ppl can't afford that.
If you wan't to go to college, use cash money or work while you go to school if you can and study something CRIDIBLE, not a basket making course, do something in science, medicine etc NOT liberal arts or some stuff like that.
There needs to be some serious student loan reform. A wall street corporation can lose millions of dollars of public money through mismanagement and has the ability to file for bankruptcy and walk away with corporate executive salaries & bonus intact. A student that falls upon hard times and is truly unable to repay a student loan in debt in full will not have the same constitutional ability to declare bankruptcy and be forgiven this debt either in partial and/or in full. Very unfair.
It is interesting that some countries provide free education to smart students, they know that an educated mind is important for the future of the country. We will always need teachers, doctors, college professors, business administrators, scientists. If only wealthy people deserve to be educated, then the losses will be great in human nature. The system is depredatory for poor people. Then lets hope that in the future the lack of professionals will teach us a lesson. A change is needed now.
I am in the same situation. I have decided to off myself at some point in the future near the same moment I become a worthless defecation factory. DONT GO TO COLLEGE. ITS JUST MIND CONTROL ANYWAY.
I was feeling bad because I got a grant to pay for all of my expenses at UCR when I really wanted to go to Berkley or UCLA instead (both of which I couldn't afford to attend without pulling out major loans). UCR is ranked in the top tier of universities, but Berkley and UCLA are just so world-renowned that I felt that I NEEDED to attend there. But I've been doing a lot of research and it seems like I made the smarter decision to attend the university that is free for me. Wish me luck!
YEP ...VANCOUVER FILM SCHOOL...96...I tried a similar topic and the feds presented me with a folder of when I didnt file taxes that year..or how i pulled a cop off of a guy he was beating sensless.
Education is the biggest scam it is way overpriced and there are no jobs when you get out. The labor force is filled with nepotism its not about what you know its about who you know. The money you would use to go to school is best invested in opening your own bizness. I recommend work as an apprentice first tho make mistakes working for someone else first.
Please, anyone who posts here, think before posting. No personal attacks! We can disagree without attacking. It's really quite simple. Just say, "I disagree because..." I'm considering disabling comments altogether. Was hoping for meaningful dialogue--but I guess that's too much to expect from youtube! If you can't be intelligent & thoughtful then just don't say anything at all.
@PurrGrrl Also I don't believe in censorship yet I don't like to spread about misinformation or propaganda either. If you want to make a statement that is blatantly untrue just to start an argument, please just go elsewhere. I simply want to inform people here, to get people involved, to get people thinking and caring about their world again.
My friend, she is in $16,000+ in student loan debt and she is a sophomore. She said she is going to transfer out of state which will charge out of state tuition of $32,000. She is a pre-med major but what saddens me is that she has about 6 W's and mostly gets C's BUT she is just hell bent on getting to her destination which is becoming a pediatrician. I predict she will be over $50K in debt (principle) and not counting interest. what is your opinion on this?
Student loans are okay as long as they are minimal and for a valuable degree with good grades. 20k for an engineering degree from a quality school is a good idea. 60k for a BA in liberal arts from University of Phoenix is a bad idea!
Also go to a community college first then a state college. Minimize the cost of tuition!
You forgot Medicare won't be there for us either. So subtract another socialized program that we are required to pay for but won't be there for us. Yes what you are saying is true. If the government really cared about higher education in this country they would stop guaranteeing loans. Only then can the costs of tuition decrease back to where the market sets them at. The supply would decrease as well because less people would go. A BS/BA degree anymore is not more than a piece of paper.
There are certain things that do not belong to the roulette wheel of private enterprise. It is sicko that in this day and age of enlightenment there are still people out there getting rich of the sick, by robbing young people by exploiting their ambitions. Capitalism does a MISERABLE job of distributing basic needs in society because the people in the industries that provide these things care more about money than what they are doing to people. Socialism in Europe did a far better job.
@socialmedic You should ask some of your socialist or communist friends how well fixed markets work. The problem isn't that capitalism does not work, it is that corperatism fails. The government shouldn't be in the business of providing loans. No loans, no massive debt. The gov, shouldn't be ensuring home loans (fannie/freddie), etc. When the students can't borrow, then colleges are forced to keep their tuition in check.
@codewarrior05 "Corporatism" is a result of capitalism. I do agree, though, that capitalism can work if it is regulated and there is oversight. Used to be laws regulating big business. We need to bring back that regulation & limit the amount of money and power that can accumulate in one place, i.e., capitalism taken to an extreme. Democratic socialism in Western Europe works quite well, but I think our system can work too.Any system can become corrupt when there's no accountability or oversight.
I disagree there, to an extent. Corporatism is not a direct result of capitalism, it's a result of capitalism combined with government left unwatched and unchecked by an uninformed and mostly compliant citizenry. Capitalism works fine, much better then and socialist government ever has, but it depends on a steadfast populous to defend it from people with a hinger for power and dominance. A perfect example of how it would be under a socialist government IS the letter you received.
Personally, I think there's plenty of money for education, health care and other social needs but the government's money (our money that is generated from us and our taxes) isn't being fairly distributed or managed. The wealthy are paying less tax than they used to and are getting bailouts & tax breaks they just don't deserve. Yet there's not enough money for the rest of us? Of course, preventing poor ppl from getting an education does keep them ignorant and, therefore, easier to control...
Quit making over-generalizations. Some BS/BA degrees are very valuable and lead to lucrative jobs. Usually these lucrative degrees qualify one to obtain a license. Licenses provide legal job security!
Obviously many government programs will be gone by the time we retire. The damn baby--boomers have obligated our government to provide for their every need. However they haven't set up a sustainable structure to allow the government to provide for their every need!
College is a scam. Don't do it. You will wind up owing $40,000 in debt. And afterwars you be making about as much as you have made had you gone to work right after high school.
THe U.S Goverment dosent pay for highschool, the tax payers do, I wish I were one of them, but i am, sadly, an unemployed college grad. I have only one video up at the moment, a little song I put to togather about college, goverment, and maybe some truth
Yes Kesvideos-& the taxpayers are the govt (technically speaking)-if we the people participate in running our country. Socialism isn't the problem. Democratic socialism works in Europe &Canada--better than ours, seriously. The problem is people not getting involved in their govt. ANY system can become corrupt, so be careful of labels like "socialism," "communism," etc. Fascism's where r country's moving toward now, results from corporate power. Corporations-not the ppl-r controlling r govt now.
Yes, I was one of those students who made major sacrifices to put myself through school, worked very hard, did without basic necessities, studied constantly, had no life, rarely went to parties, etc.(a total nerd!) so I thought (&most who knew me thought) I was going to be very successful upon graduation. Sadly, our society just doesn't place a great value on education. Other societies do, however, and that's why they are advancing ahead of us.
DITTO ON SACRIFICE. Me? 50 no children, now can't have children, have not had a real boyfriend, ever. What it feels like to be loved by someone in return? I will never know. SIX figures debt for Ivy League loans ... earned me no human rights. I live to keep my apartment, and very lucky to have the only love I will ever know, my dog. I thought all that work would eventually pay off. Don't get me wrong; I loved the education, but this was the price; society., nobody, values it.
Yes, socialmedic, I agree. Our society doesn't value education&the educated. It's one of the reasons the U.S. is falling, I think. Your comment is poignant. I know there are lots of ppl out there suffering & in debt, not 'cause they're irresponsible w/their money or lazy but because the system has become so corrupt. I think capitalism can work if we bring back the Pre-Reagan capitalism w/checks &accountability over corporate power. We nd to undo the damage that started in the 80s.
I don't make enough money, I go to college, I have a lot of valuables and my landlord/homeowner threatened to evict me within 1 week and a half... I might be homeless if I don't find a place on time this month.
It was a huge fuck up with my college, that's why I'm in this situation right now. My brother is 2 years younger than me, didn't finish high school, works and gets paid hundreds more than me. It's a shame what they put college students through.
Yes, and jobs are scarce, salaries are ridiculously low yet we are told it is "our fault" we can't pay back the loans. Never mind the fact that we apply for financial aid & are offered loans in response as a form of "assistance." We go to college 'cause we don't want to be debtors, 'cause we want 2 better r selves, ideally prepare ourselves for better jobs so we won't be in debt.
Bluedrizzle, I hope everything worked out okay for you. Yes, our system doesn't really reward people proportionally according to how hard they work. That's what some people don't understand. Often the people who work the hardest are paid the least, and vice versa. I hope more Americans wake up to this soon.
9/11 was an inside job. I beg the people in this country to wake up, we must stop the damage before it is too late. They spend our money on wars and guns, all for the Fake War on Terror. Meanwhile we all work for seven dollars an hour. The government is out of control, we need no government at all. We must Wake up, every terror attack for the last decade has been State Sponsored. There are No jobs, how could we let this happen. People have sold their souls, not out of greed, but out of Fear.
They cut wages, increase costs and tack on penalties and unrelenting taxes onto our loans.
...and while our debt continues to increase and they take what little money we have.....they get a huge bail out by the government so they can survive the financial crisis they have created.
They cut wages, increase costs and tack on penalties and unrelenting taxes onto our loans.

I am a special ed teacher and I owe $100 grand. I have no idea how I will ever pay this back. I have two jobs and I am just getting by. Wow...land of the free....only I feel nothing but depressed and scared about my future.
Nope, codewarrior05, you're misinformed. U don't get a hearing. It's up to the discretion of the US Dept of Ed. That's the pt I'm trying to make w/the video. Most ppl can't afford to pay for community coll w/the tiny salaries employers are paying these days. Not sure what decade you're living in but this isn't the 50s.
At about 2:50 second into your video you concede that you can have a hearing. The choice to garnish wages and the so forth are at the discretion of the US Dept of Ed. Google AWG Hearing
The community college in my state runs about 850 $USD per quarter. That means in order to pay the tuition a student needs to earn about 100$ a week. That is totally doable, even in this economy.
But overall wouldn't you agree that we should abolish government backed student loans?
codewarrior05, perhaps the video wasn't clear--The paperwork says you may REQUEST a hearing but the Dept of Ed needs to APPROVE it. If the Dept of Ed denies your request because they decide u really don't need a hearing and they can just make a decision on their own, then u don't get a hearing. The wording in the paperwork may make it appear u r entitled to a hearing, but in actuality there is no hearing, no court of law, no trial, no democratic process--
Agreed ... student loans are high risk debt. No debt is "good" debt. Debt varies only by amount of risk. I was 17 years old when I signed my first promissory note and didn't know diddly squat about finances. Debt rules every aspect of your life - what jobs you take, where you live, when you get married, if you'll have kids. You pay for student loans with your life.
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. - Proverbs 22:7
Sallie Mae and other student loan corporations have as much patriotism as Osama Bin Ladin and the 9/11 hijackers.
A college education should be free just like high school is. This is a simple matter of making sure that America can compete with other nations.
Sallie Mae and all the other vile bastards could care less if they help make this a third rate nation. They have their well guarded communites with high walls to hide behind.
They cut wages, increase costs and tack on penalties and unrelenting taxes onto our loans.
...and while our debt continues to increase and they take what little money we have.....they get a huge bail out by the government so they can survive the financial crisis they have created.
High school is not free. The government borrows money from private banks to finance high schools, in the same way college kids get loans to go to college, and in order to pay it back it taxes the public.
If College was free you would be paying higher taxes. Is that what you want?
Here in Bulgaria (that's in Europe) higher education costs about 300-400 euro a year, and the average monthly wage is about 200 euro. Most people sure are poor, but at least they don't need to get indebted if they want to study.
this is funny stuff, good delievery infact, I could see this woman doing a little standup comedy as she looks sexy & is witty//intelligent. I never relized they could come after ones soc. security later. I knew a friend that got out of paying her debts with a doctor stating she was too sick to work or something so there has to be a way out of it...
maybe you'll find it interesting, but in Brazil (third world country, yes), the best "colleges" are public, free, you don't have to pay for it. you can go to a private college in which you have to pay if you want to, since everyone wants to get into public colleges (what makes it difficult to get in), but most of people chose of course the free and good public education.
Going to college is a big step in life. It is exciting, challenging and costly. One of the biggest stresses of going to college is figuring out how to pay for it. For many students paying for college involves getting student loans. Grants, scholarships and other free money does not usually cover all the costs and the only other place to turn is to a student loan.
While education is impt 4the intellectual benefits, it doesn't guarantee financial gain. Students shdn't take out loans to pay for it. A govt that req students to put themselves in debt in order to obtain an education isn't democratic. Penalizing poor &middle class students by forcing them to accumulate debt is way of preventing the poor from ever rising up in society. Ppl nd to wake up b4 it's too late. This isn't the 50s. My degree justoverqualified me 4 the low paying svc jobs now available
We have been enslaved through usury. I started out homeless from age 13-18 and thought that an education would be the answer to my AMERICAN DREAM. NOW the US government takes 50+ percent of my paycheck through taxes and garnishment. This equates to 29,000 dollars a year. This will continue for seven years on a 15,000 dollar principle. I am a slave.
U know when u get older social security will not exist another scam. So I guess you will be ok there. The government bails out other people and makes us flip the bill. I have a couple hundred grand in student deb but i am a doc who makes good money so I can't complain. However to charge people 100k for a bs or ms is total bs. To those who want to go to college make sure u know what you want to do in life and stay true to it. Till then dont invest in an education that wil cripple ur futur
BlackMask2012, perhaps that was true back in the 70s, but today most college students graduate with low paying jobs, no jobs at all or sometimes having to take on internships that pay ZERO. Even those who are practical and getting vocational degrees have no guarantee of employment when they graduate. The US govt is giving tax incentives to ENCOURAGE companies to outsource jobs to other countries! It's insulting, but Americans are so complacent & ignorant of what is happening right now.
hate to break it to you but social security will not exist in the next 5 years. don't need to be a finance major to figure that one out. But I f**cked up too and went to college...If I hadn't gone to college I'd be a millionaire by now, or at least more well educated.
Yes. Well, some European countries provide education for free or very low cost. Why can't we? Also why aren't colleges required to prepare students for actual jobs or at least warn students they may not find work when they graduate.
Actually, most jobs today are in the service industry--jobs that don't require a degree. My point is that most colleges aren't preparing students for the few jobs that are out there. Yet financial aid students are required to take out loans as cost of tuition is unaffordable otherwise and most financial aid now comes in the form of loans not grants.
You'd have to work your way up and wait for a vacancy anyway with or without a college degree. If you really believed I was wrong about this you'd go back to school and get that college degree. I've seen MBAs in the unemployment office and I've seen some who are working. Certainly there are some jobs for some ppl but not enough to go around. My point is, grads aren't guaranteed high paying jobs but are required to take out loans and to pay them back regardless of their financial circumstances.
My point really was with a college degree you can start at a higher entry level position and it would be a lot easier to move up verus without a degree.
Like with my current job there are certain positions where they are firm on a college degree (any BA/BS degree.
I guess it also depends on a few important things like
1. Location
2. Industry
3. Connections
I get paid to go to school but mostamericans are either unwilling or unable to do what I did. Made a deal with Uncle Sam
Studies actually show that a college degree makes virtually no difference as to one's economic status in the U.S. Fact is, most people remain in the same socioeconomic status that they were born into regardless of a college education. It's time Americans wake up and recognize this country for what it is--not the Land of Opportunity we've been taught.
Planning ahead was what I thought I was doing when I worked so hard to put myself through univ. Graduated w/a high grade point avg. &worked while I was in school. Took out loans 'cause that was financial aid I was offered. Spent hours researching scholarships, grants, etc., but there isn't much financial aid avail to students tda outside of loans &tuition's outrageously high. Reality is, a college degree doesn't prepare students for jobs anymore. It's all about connections, not qualifications.
That letter from the DOE is scary. Even Jigsaw in the "SAW" movies couldn't think up anything that scary. I have a degree in accounting that I haven't used for anything--I mostly lost interest in the subject after I got my degree. The office jobs I had didn't require an accounting degree--just some knowledge of accounting principles (eg. Accounting 1A and 1B). This is debtor's prison--like getting an arrest warrant and being sent to the Bastille or the Tower of London.
Yes, and it's surprising how many Americans are just going along with this debtor society. It's your fault 'cause u took out the loans, they'll say. But why are loans offered as a form of financial aid to students who are low income in the first place? Aren't low income ppl supposed to be unable to take out loans? What many ppl don't know is that Sallie Mae makes more money off of those of us who can't pay than those who can. They literally profit off of other ppl's poverty. It's sickening.
GO TO TRIAL!!! Prove that the loan company gave you a fraudulent loan!! The loan company never had money in a vault to loan you...The company just typed a number into a computer. The loan is null & void.

Had I decided to go to school. I would have nearly $100,000 dollars in debt be paying $1,100 a month for the next 30 years and bringing home less than minimum wage after debt payment.
It disgusts me that getting an education is a poor life decision.

Or are you trying to please your parents?
Also, most people get jobs with loan forgiveness, the peace core is great.

Very unfair.
utubefan2011 1 year ago
It is interesting that some countries provide free education to smart students, they know that an educated mind is important for the future of the country. We will always need teachers, doctors, college professors, business administrators, scientists. If only wealthy people deserve to be educated, then the losses will be great in human nature. The system is depredatory for poor people. Then lets hope that in the future the lack of professionals will teach us a lesson. A change is needed now.

I predict she will be over $50K in debt (principle) and not counting interest. what is your opinion on this?
lilgame34 1 year ago
@PurrGrrl

Socialism in Europe did a far better job.
socialmedic 1 year ago
@socialmedic You should ask some of your socialist or communist friends how well fixed markets work. The problem isn't that capitalism does not work, it is that corperatism fails. The government shouldn't be in the business of providing loans. No loans, no massive debt. The gov, shouldn't be ensuring home loans (fannie/freddie), etc. When the students can't borrow, then colleges are forced to keep their tuition in check.
codewarrior05 1 year ago
@codewarrior05 "Corporatism" is a result of capitalism. I do agree, though, that capitalism can work if it is regulated and there is oversight. Used to be laws regulating big business. We need to bring back that regulation & limit the amount of money and power that can accumulate in one place, i.e., capitalism taken to an extreme. Democratic socialism in Western Europe works quite well, but I think our system can work too.Any system can become corrupt when there's no accountability or oversight.
PurrGrrl 1 year ago
@PurrGrrl

Sadly, our society just doesn't place a great value on education. Other societies do, however, and that's why they are advancing ahead of us.

PurrGrrl 1 year ago

codewarrior05 2 years ago
Nope, codewarrior05, you're misinformed. U don't get a hearing. It's up to the discretion of the US Dept of Ed. That's the pt I'm trying to make w/the video. Most ppl can't afford to pay for community coll w/the tiny salaries employers are paying these days. Not sure what decade you're living in but this isn't the 50s.
PurrGrrl 2 years ago
@PurrGrrl
But overall wouldn't you agree that we should abolish government backed student loans?
codewarrior05 2 years ago
codewarrior05, perhaps the video wasn't clear--The paperwork says you may REQUEST a hearing but the Dept of Ed needs to APPROVE it. If the Dept of Ed denies your request because they decide u really don't need a hearing and they can just make a decision on their own, then u don't get a hearing. The wording in the paperwork may make it appear u r entitled to a hearing, but in actuality there is no hearing, no court of law, no trial, no democratic process--
PurrGrrl 2 years ago
Agreed ... student loans are high risk debt.

Most people sure are poor, but at least they don't need to get indebted if they want to study.

maybe you'll find it interesting, but in Brazil (third world country, yes), the best "colleges" are public, free, you don't have to pay for it. you can go to a private college in which you have to pay if you want to, since everyone wants to get into public colleges (what makes it difficult to get in), but most of people chose of course the free and good public education.

PurrGrrl 2 years ago

Yes. Well, some European countries provide education for free or very low cost. Why can't we? Also why aren't colleges required to prepare students for actual jobs or at least warn students they may not find work when they graduate.
PurrGrrl 2 years ago
so if a person doesn't go to college and has zero experience or knowledge where are they gonna work?
Please don't go to college people that leaves less comptetion for me in the market place.
BlackMask2012 2 years ago
Actually, most jobs today are in the service industry--jobs that don't require a degree. My point is that most colleges aren't preparing students for the few jobs that are out there. Yet financial aid students are required to take out loans as cost of tuition is unaffordable otherwise and most financial aid now comes in the form of loans not grants.
PurrGrrl 2 years ago
So what degree do you have and what industry are you in?
For me if I had a degree I could have already been hired in the job that I applied for but now I gotta work my way up and wait for a vancy.
BlackMask2012 2 years ago
You'd have to work your way up and wait for a vacancy anyway with or without a college degree. If you really believed I was wrong about this you'd go back to school and get that college degree. I've seen MBAs in the unemployment office and I've seen some who are working. Certainly there are some jobs for some ppl but not enough to go around. My point is, grads aren't guaranteed high paying jobs but are required to take out loans and to pay them back regardless of their financial circumstances.
PurrGrrl 2 years ago
My point really was with a college degree you can start at a higher entry level position and it would be a lot easier to move up verus without a degree.
Like with my current job there are certain positions where they are firm on a college degree (any BA/BS degree.
I guess it also depends on a few important things like
1. Location
2. Industry
3. Connections
I get paid to go to school but mostamericans are either unwilling or unable to do what I did. Made a deal with Uncle Sam
BlackMask2012 2 years ago
