fantastica.....un pavarotti vocalmente perfetto....ma.....porca paletta, non è capace di andare in tempo?????? non è mai stato in grado di farlo, mi dispiace dirlo
I'm new to classical music. I understand that La Boheme comprises of 4 acts. With regard to this video, could anyone be so kind as to point out where they start and finish? I'd be most grateful.
@cccxxxc Each act starts in a different location, so Act One is in the apartment, Act Two is at the cafe, Act Three is in the street, and Act Four is back in the apartment.
This is my favorite opera but sadly pavoratti let me down with his acting. And rodolfo's first phrase of the show (which always gives me goosebumps) was also disappointing. A very good recording though and it is still my favorite opera. Thumbs up!
volodia2, thank you very much. Very interesting and valuable it is recording live performances of "La Boheme" from La Scala with Luciano Pavarotti. Personally, it's very special because it is the baritone Lorenzo Saccomani, who shared the stage, talked a lot, is a very agradabley I have photos with him, this is before this performance.
volodia2, muchas gracias.
I think he means, that it's (sadly) not the version from 22 March 1979 but 30 March 1979 and Marcello was that time not Piero Cappucilli but Lorenzo Saccomani as you can see for example at 1:26:56.
For my money, this is clearly the best version of "La Boheme" I have ever seen or heard. What a cast -- Popp, Pav, Cotrubas, etc. -- and Carlos conducting. There are so many wonderful conductorial decisions here: e.g., the tempo of the beginning of Act I, the panache of the scene at the caffe, the slight delay in the execution of the last two notes at the end of Act II, etc. A FABULOUS, FABULOUS job by the great Carlos Kleiber. I will treasure it forever. Thanks, volodya2! Encora una volta!
@MelWolff It's a combination of three things: tradition that provided a precedent that legitimated it, personal immaturity, and egocentrism (crudely calling attention to oneself in a public setting).
Personally I think that Lucía played, perhaps, one of the best Musseta of the last 50 years. Volodya, thank you very much for uploading this opera, is simply magical.
Grazie, grazie, Volodya !! Io l'avevo vista, avevo anche un'audiocassetta ripresa dalla Roadio, ma l'ho persa da tanto tempo: sono felice che il mito che di questa esecuzione mi ero costruito nella memoria...corrisponde ancora alla realtà!
@TraVoiBelle Domingo didn't have the beauty of Luciano's voice and its immediate warmth (leaving alone Luciano's splendid high C...), but he definitely was a much more impassioned Rodolfo than Pavarotti, and much much better actor!
Altogether a great experience for the eye and ear. Thank you!

Tutto stupendo,Kleiber e Cotrubas in primo luogo. L'unico neo è la partecipazione del gonfiatissimo ( dai media ) Pavarotti !
Grazie

in my opinion there is no better Mimi than Angela Gheorghiu

Garaventa was better as Rodolfo. A pity that the performance with Pavarotti was recorded and not the one with Garaventa.

Oh - thank you, thank you SO MUCH!
Great performance, great Pavarotti, Kleiber, everybody and everything!..
Ileana Cotrubas is - I believe - an IDEAL MIMI. She is wonderful in Covent Garden too - with Shicoff (he IMO is one of the greatests as Rodolfo!).

any opera fan can see that the baryton that night is obviously NOT Capuccili but Lorenzo Saccomani!!!

Somehow I'd convinced myself that I had no need for La Popp in my life. How wrong was I. I don't even like this opera, and I'm entranced.
Thanks for uploading!
