@JamesEzSecretChannel Very true. IMO, California is the worst of the lot, no matter the economic standing. I remember growing up there and thinking I never wanted to leave. Now that I'm older, each time I visit I can't seem to get back home fast enough!
I was so caught up in sharing ideas, I forgot to mention: good video and points. I just focused on 2:30 : "I wish we could do something." I'm eager to inspire others with an optimism for the future, which as far as I can tell, is sorely lacking in today's society. Perhaps because viable alternatives, and the material of Technocracy, INC, especially, has been buried and distorted to favor those in power in government and business.
It most certainly does NOT have to be this way, and by changing the environment of human beings, we can most certainly change the behavior of the human being. When we arrange the economic structure to provide equally and abundantly for all, without exception, we remove the incentive to view other humans as mere tools to be exploited for the end of self-preservation. Instead, we foster a mindset of appreciating our fellow human being and every interaction we have.
Please, please look into Resource-based economics, specifically, Technocracy, INC. The interference mechanisms inherent in any political Price System foster a mind set that is acquisitive rather than inquisitive, exploitative rather than compassionate, incentive-focused rather than initiative-focused. Political Price Systems are based, at their root, on controlling human beings rather than the physical world. In this way, people come to view others as mere tools, intermediaries for their will.
Down here in Alabama there are still some social interactions that are polite and friendly such as a smile, or a wave, even if that person is a stranger. However as one who travels a lot to many parts of the world- sadly it is not so everywhere else. It strikes me as odd and even slightly hilarious that people can be so independent (which is not a bad thing at ALL...to an extent) to be as rude as you said. It causes me to wonder exactly to what extent this may go...
aww don't say the vid's not good. I like it. If I'm correct (though I'm not an expert on Marx) Karl Marx had a notion of alienation, which as far as I know is in a similar vein to your thought, even if he probably considered it from the worker's viewpoint. But your thought is definitely worthwhile considering because imo too the modern world is going nuts, it seems.
i think this is specific to your environment as well, in certain areas i go to everyone's smiles
and other places, people look like they wanna kick my ass for making eye contact
to be expected, this distance is most notable between higher and lower income areas, the higher being happier and the lower being... well, lower
