actually, one HUGE reason lots of corps have been switching to Yamaha and Dynasty istn't the drums, it's the brass. Brass instruments are a bigger expense for corps than percussion. If a corps wants free Yamaha/Dynasty horns, they're forced to endorse Yamaha/Dynasty's drums as a package deal. Pearl doesn't have the make brass instruments so they don't have the leverage these other companies do.
i think the main reason pearl is dying(marchingwise) is because of the weight of the drums and the hardware issues.
thats a big reason yamaha is flourishing, a yamaha 32" bass is like the equivilant in weight of a 26-28" pearl. but pearl most definatly sounds the best.
yea ive marched with old pearls with my drumline for the past 2 years. but we just got some new dynasties and the snares are alot lighter. it was a nice surprise.
yeh pearl has really shut down in marching there are only a couple or corps that use them now because of all the hardware problems, yet they sound awesome
not to be a party pooper, but pearl has to have the stingiest marketing ever. every sound on this commercial is straight from garageband.
