There is a 'trendy' bar at the waterfront near me. They have about 10 of these fans outside underneath the verandah. All of them are unbalanced and throwing themselves around.
The air conditioner removes heat and moisture from the air. While a ceiling fan circulates the air conditioned air.
Ceiling fans are also good in the winter for re-circulating the rising heat, this is why most of them have a reverse setting; so they can circulate the air without making a "wind-chill" effect.
Using a ceiling fan will actually REDUCE the cost of heating and cooling, since they use far less electricity than an air conditioner, and don't use gas like many furnaces.
@TechSmack Moving air causes any perspiration to evaporate off your skin amd evaporation itself is a cooling process, Changing a liquid to a gas is a cooling process, same thing.
The A/C actually cools the air, The fan just moves the air around. Hot air rises and you can have all your heat hugging the ceiling and your feet can be cold so again the fan mixes the air and stops these thermal layers.
@MRLOL785 Your right about that. It has something to do with the speed vs. the sweeping area of the blade (or something like that)
Someone who is good is physics could probably articulate much more on the subject. Your right though, most people think "More blades = More efficient!" when, in fact, the opposite is true. (this is why industrial fans generally have three blades, rather than 4, 5, or 6)
@dslgunner1977 I believe that's why most propeller planes had only 2 blades was because of the efficiency/turbulence thing. I've seen 5/6 bladed industrial fans in greenhouse orchards before.

@heroknaderi the short side is heavier than the long side.

Looks like a maple tree seed. Very interesting design.

One bladed fan just seem ugly to me for some reasons.

whats the point of having a fan AND an air conditioner??

i wonder what would happen if it goes super speed

@Xearo167 no, it actually increases the efficiency because the other blade(s) causes turbulence.

I've seen a fan in ace hardware store just the same(and i think the name is also the same)but different canopy
