Read the book Falling and Laughing. Should be called Falling and Moaning. 300 pages of someone complaining at the NHS. Collins is a cool guy. Shame his wife is such a miserable cow.
@darling67 ...you're damn right! Just go back to his OJ days, just go back to his early solo albums, and the rest and there y'll find the spark of scottish pop genius. Collins is a master of wit (so precociously evident for the world to see and ignore...). It's the nature of the world that bitter irony of fate strikes brilliant minds like his. But the man his strong hearted and hard-headed as always and it's with great pleasure that we see him recover! Postcard forever! Upwards and onwards!
How come only 21,675 have watched this? If we all watched it we might appreciate the spirit of humanity so much more. Life is fragile, treat it as a privilege & with utmost respect , then live it to the full, just as he does.
EDWYN! Looking forward to seeing you live (alive) at the Royal Festival Hall tonight. Rock it out!
Touching but encouraging excerpt. I wonder how all this fits in with George Osborne's plans to f*ck up the welfare system. There must be 10,000s of people with similar/different illnesses that need the medical support after strokes and all the other horrible illnesses out there.
Having heard him on the radio last week I'd say there's been a noticeable improvement in Edwyn's condition since this was recorded. Not a recovery, by any means, but his speech was much more fluid and coherent.
I've only recently become a fan of Orange Juice and Edwyn Collins. I had no idea he went through this. He's gained a whole new level of respect from me. Cheers to you Edwyn. Hope you continue to get better.
amazing docu - one of the great, underrated heroes of the scottish music scene - you either knew of orange juice, postcard records etc. or you knew his 2 big chart hits - no matter, edwyn was always a 'good guy' in an industry full of 'wanks' (ref. 'chewin' the fat')
i love the way, debilitated as he is, he completes grace's sentences, a sign of true love surely
my fiancee died aug05 from an SAH, but while in the ICU, edwyns case gave me hope. it wasn't to be, but here's to you edwyn

So endearing. My mum too also suffered a stroke the same year as him and it's good to see that both are strong individuals.
