How about... we stop viewing them as a 'lesser' species, and recognise and respect their unique intelligence and language, and stop being such total crappy patronising pathetic 'duhhh, we think we're superior, duhhh' species.
Great and amazing but I believe the dolphins cannot be judged by our standards of intelligence; they are higher beings and just being around them shifts our brain. ♥
I hate humans that think they're the most intelligent mammals, or the top of the food chain, etc. That's so human of us; evil, selfish, greedy. Those emotions are the only thing we can be sure are only specific to our species.
@TheMoonlightVagabond Animals are awesome, and I respect them, but stop with that bullshit, ok? We are the most intelligent. I dont see dolphins building vast undersea cities, or building a Hubble Space telescope or anything remotely similar, not creating calculus, etc. And dont give me some hippie newage bullshit about them not needing it or whatever. And we are the top of the food chain, because we are able to hunt/kill and eat all other animals. Yes they are awesome and very intelligent,
@Kyousuke687 You are right, but who knows what dolphins would do with hands? I mean, our primate body inherited from our evolution in trees played a major role in our capacity to shape the world around us, which in return enriched culturally our intelligence; dolphins will never reach this point of course, but their mind life appears to me qualitativaly similar to that of the first humans using some rudimentary tools 2 million years ago: Air circles or mud are produced and used like tools.
@wollin20 I think dolphins are simply intelligent creatures that are imprisoned not by the lack of mental capacity, but more of a physical incapability of manipulating tools. I guess we may never know until we reincarnate as one.
@TheMoonlightVagabond but do not get carried away. Have some pride in being human. Otherwise go live in the woods, and become an "animal". I am also not endorsing abusing animals; that is evil.
@Kyousuke687 Some people do get carried away with their fascination with animals. But do realize that the reason they probably haven't been building things is because they don't have the necessary appendages to do so. No hands or opposable thumbs. Also take into account that although we pride ourselves in our "intelligence" we are also obliderating the planet that we stand on. In a different sense, that's the antithesis of intelligence.
@JarethGT or maybe they're smart enough to know technology doesn't creates more danger than problems it solves. Maybe they've evolved enough to know true intelligence development is developing character. not acquiring material things.
@Kyousuke687 I'm not always proud of being a human, in fact I'm often very ashamed of the fact. We may be technically the most intelligent species but where has that got us? We are the only animal on the planet that holds the fate of every other species in our hands and we have irreparably damaged the natural balance of this planet, to think other wise is very ignorant. What has been done can sadly never be undone.
An absolutely wonderful piece. Thank you!

This is so awesome. Dolphins have so much in common with us. It's like they're the humans of the sea.
