I've got problems with my crysis game- there seem to be a lot of flickering of texture maps in distances and the sky.

What is this due to and can I fix it? I've got a really decent machine.

There's crysis warhead 1.3 patch available since february.

Maybe you should contact EA/Crytek about your serial number issue.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the 4870X2 is barely able to run this game at very high setting. What did you expect from a 9600 GT? Try LOW or MEDIUM settings.

Wow I ran the benchmark for Devil May Cry 4 in DX9 mode with everything maxed, MSAA x8, ect. at 1680x1050, was getting close to 300fps against lava demon boss! Never went below 150fps through all the levels! And GPU-Z reported that the second gpu was working overtime! strange part is that DX9 or DX10 on Crysis, it doesn't use my 2nd gpu at all! Do you know a fix for that?

Ok that's strange! Crysis not using the second gpu? Mine does! Try running some benchmarks please and compare them with my videos. I got many in here! :)

Wow major update! I just uninstalled and reinstalled Crysis with no patches and it's now utilizing both gpus! Using DX9 on high with no AA 1680x1050 I'm averaging at around close to 50fps! I'm a little hesitational about installing patches now! LOL. I think I'm going to stick around with DX9 seeing that it gets me bang for the buck fps wise.

Well this does suck! My score in furmark when down by a thousand and i called up ATI and asked them and they troubleshooted with me. Turns out that it is a bad card! :( Gotta use my 3650 for the time being :(

Wow toutagamon I just noticed the strangest thing ever! I was playing using the DX10 64 bit feature and getting about in the low mid 20's, low 30's the highest for my fps! The wierd part is when i used DX9 64 bit I averaged in the mid 30's with the mid 40's being the highest! Any thoughts on this? I can see that both of my gpus are working via GPU-Z. : ). I guess i'm not getting on par what you're getting because of my cpu. Thanks for all your help man.

DX10 shader path bring quite a performance hit for most games. Run the benchmark of Devil May Cry with the same settings and you will see! I dunno why. Maybe DX10 is just plain crap. It never took off actually.

Crysis doesn't scale well with multi gpu systems in general. It's not the 4870X2's faults.

The fps counter is from a program called FRAPS.

Good tests are the known benchmarks out there. Have a look on my channel for some ideas!;)

Yes, my second GPU is at 100%! The fps can be seen from my videos. Right now i am using catalyst 9.4 but the second gpu was fully operational since the first day i bought it when i was using catalyst 8.8!

Download furmark 1.6.5. Rename the exe to etqw.exe and run the benchmark at 1680x1050 and compare the results with my video.

Well just got off the phone with VisionTek, turns out that my the second GPU on my card is faulty! : (. got to exchange it now. I knew i should've been getting better performance! Rivatuner shows 0% activity for my 2nd gpu, same with the ATI CCC.

You can run rivatuner at the background, launch the monitor and after you have played the game for a couple of minutes, you can go back to rivatuner's monitor and see the readings.

Rest asssured, Crysis uses both cores of the X2.

Your CPU is not enough for this card though!

Ermm...you are missing the point competely! I want to show the performance at 1680*1050 or 1920*1080 or whatever resolution i choose. How would it be representative of the true performace, if i used a lower resolution?

I want specifically to show the ups and downs of the framerate at that exact resolution. I want people to have a point of reference of how it would run on their PCs. The only way to do that is to show what i see, ie extrernal camera recording.

ATI and INTEL could use the Voodoo 5 6000

concept and use four 5 watt video compressor processors and low voltage ram on a single card to achieve the same performance as a 4870X2 with DX11 compression software

so top video cards could be using 35 watts rather than 400 the microwave radiation coming from the 4870X2 is very annoying after a while and the power drain and heat issues are out of control

i do all i can to move people away from high watt components and move to laptops.

19inch equals 1280*1024?

If yes, then of course it will run it, but the best settings you say need some clarification. Even at 1280*1024 if you use DX10 enthusiast and you add to that 4XAA, dont expect nothing much! It will be playable yes, but not 60fps+ playable!

Tell me the exact settings you want and i will test it for you. I have a Quad Core though!;)

That's the resolution i specifically chose, in order to achieve the maximum performance/visual goodies ratio.

Thanks to the Philips PNX 5100 processor you can't tell the difference actually. Even the slight ratio change from 16:9 to 16:10 does not bother at all.

With a second GTX and a Core 2 you would be fine. If your mobo does not support SLI you can go for a GX2 instead. (that's not to think that i only suggest ati cards :P)

It runs like shit! On Vista 64 Enthusiast setting at 1024x768 it runs at about 45fps. The same if you enable 4XAA.

To tell you the truth i can't figure out if "enthusiast" enables DX10, since it is available on XP too. I can't find any other option regarding DX10 though.

At 1680X1050, enthusiast, it runs at about 30fps.
