i'm hoping and praying that the DEC gives the green light to drilling in NY, screw the liberal enviromental groups, lets put some good paying jobs out for average NY residents.
Who would think that injecting poison into the earth with no idea of how to remove the toxins from the fraction of the water that does re-surface is a good idea? Enviromental destroying capitalist pigs, who along with PA's new teabagging Gob'nor Tommy "Space Cadet" Corporate" are working hard to destroy everyone's water. Capitalism was much more fun when we only poisoning the water of of the 3rd world, wasn't it boys and girls?
Once the drilling is complete the whole wellhead assembly will be about the size of a phone booth. If this is really close to the border then its quite possibly a test well to see the viability of the shale in NYS. NYS has placed "barriers" to drilling due to heavy regulation so just to drill a test well would be cost prohibitive, and in true Liberal/Progressive government fashion, they think they'll make lots of tax revenue by regulating the activity out of existence.
i think your right, and now NYS is finally maybe growing a brain and going to let them drill up here sometime either the end of this year or next year, the DEC and the legislatrue and cuomo are finally seeing the light, well maybe.
Those are not drill bits, they are production pipes. Used to clean the well, once it is drilled. It amazes me how much "assumption" people broadcast as "fact".
@69cowboypa - They're not production pipes either. That's a rack of drill pipe, probably five inch. It's used to not only drill but like you said clean the hole but it's while drilling not after it's drilled. Drilling mud is pumped down the hole and through the rotating bit then the mud comes up the annulus between the drill pipe and the open hole where it's filtered out by the shakers and then cycled back in the hole through the mud pumps.
1 minute ago blah hahahahahahahaha theres nothing you can do we are going to DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL DRILL we are oilfield trash wemake you babys get born naked , we make your feet stink, we make your hair turn grey, we make you fat , we make you old , we are all thats bad for america... shit the whole world ....if it was`nt for us oilfield trash everybody would live forever and eve would`nt have eaten the apple with adam
I love how people watch that little HBO propaganda shockumentary "Gasland" and think they are experts on the sciences of drilling and geology. Just because you can parrot bullshit from the film doesn't mean you know anything. Stupid hippycrites...
trade secret my ass, you can go to the EPA, most company websites, the PA DNR, etc. and find out what is in fracking fluid, they have to report it to the regulatory agencies.
gas coming out of there faucets? lmao you must be one of the most uneducated ignorant person in pa|!!!! i live in nm im coming to oil city im gunna buy a house and raise my kids there as long as theres rig in the state of pa. theres no work here so im bringing every roughneck i can find and we are going to buy the biggest houses and have the biggest coal rollin diesel trucks in oil city pa so get ready here we come
@driller524 hey i live farther east and they are just getting ready to drill in my county. my moms a real estate agent and there is plenty of area to run coal rolling trucks. in two years my county and the one north are projected to be the richest area per capata in the united states
@BeAnEarthNut there's something going on and after it was voted down legislators still snuck in to lease this land among many others especially in Wayne County where I want to organize a protest.
@9988Anthony start with petition supporting the land owners rights to tell the fed's they just cant Take peoples Land tor drill on any-One peace of personal even privet property with out community support!
i still dont care what Experts say, over time frack Chemicals may in time leach into drinking water at lower elevations or come out of springs Miles away at lower elevations depending on elevations even the Frack depth
from what I know from talking to land owners they want the wells, hell these people are making a ton of money to let the companies come in and lease, there are farmers who were worrying about money, and now their grandchildren don't have to worry, neither do their great gran kids.
@ljones121 well their is not much to say but its their loss, ill not be a slave to the Oil and their money, if it was my land i would tell them to get off my land and dont come back asking to drill anymore! this is just the way i am, i dont sell out!
fair enough and those are your rights as an american, just don't go crying for a gov't hand out and saying its not fair that your neighbors are all driving nice cars and you ain't got shit, cause you passed up a lease.
actually in a way i'm not, alot of people who either don't want the rigs cause oooh they're fracking, and have a pre existing methane problem in their well, try to blame the oil companies and sue them, for well cash, or are pissed that they didn't get a lease, but yet got a right of way for a pipeline through their property, and didn't negotiate either a better deal/higher price or some other perk like a homeowner hook up on the line. so again after cash.
@ljones121 Safe for what? Life on Mars? The 2011 US House of Representatives investigative report on the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing shows that of the 750 compounds in hydraulic fracturing products “[m]ore than 650 of these products contained chemicals that are known or possible human carcinogens, regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, or listed as hazardous air pollutants” Safe?
from all the data, i've collected and seen and people i know, no i have not heard of any well water mess ups, besides the one screw up cabot had, and mitagated as per the dnr in PA.
It cracks me up how many people in Penn have never seen a drilling rig before.... To bad it left oklahoma damnit, I was a Derrickhand for one of the rigs that went up there, and was a senior logger for one of the mudlogging companies that are working the Nomac rigs for Chesapeake.
I believe so. They set up pretty fast and are designed to be moved to new locations after they are down. Many of these being set up around the area (Bradford County)

I've worked on natural gas drilling rigs and there is no way this is affecting anyones drinking water nearby.
n01stunna 2 years ago
And what about the many many videos on Youtube showing people's water table destroyed, their ponds poisoned, gas coming out of their faucets?
What about the fact that every place in the country where they use this technique now has problems with water supply pollution?
Just asking.

go online and find out what is actually in the frack fluid that goes down hole, its 99.5% sand and water, the chemicals that are added, are safe.
