  • This is all beautiful art and shit but all these bjj guys are definitely not in top condition... Where in any other grappling sport would it be okay to stop fighting and take a nap on your opponent's stomach?

  • The way Eddie blocked his students leg and passed him at 4:28 seemed so instictual. It's like a sensation, huh? I love watching great BJJ artist at work.

  • It's generally accepted in no-gi that you don't grab clothing. That is the whole point.

  • yo u dont kno how much i wanna train wit eddie bravo!

  • @yotem16 i'm pretty sure that there are some american guys who are younger than eddie bravo, and who have been for the same amount of time or less than eddie bravo, who have won major titles in competition in USA or around the world... mike fowler, jt torres, ryan hall, jeff glover, rafael lovato jr.... are just a few off the top of my head... BJ won the world championship and got his black belt in like 4 years... Rubber guard is great, but if eddie was the shit... then where's his title?

  • @aikidoisthebombyeah Truer words have never been spoken.

  • @aikidoisthebombyeah that doesnt mean anything. i mean did u not know that Eddie was the 1st to tap a Gracie and it was cuz of his modified techniques. also not competing for world titles dont mean anything, u can still be a master without winning championships. just look at BRUCE lee! how many champs did he compete for? none. but would anyone deny that he was one of the most amazing fighters ever in history? no only a retard would say that

  • @xXBeastfromdaEastXx are you for fucking REAL MAN? Why don't you go train some jiu-jitsu instead of sucking Eddie's dick. While your training, ask some old school BJJ players who Mario Sperry is. Maybe they will tell you about the time that Zemario Sperry finished Royler Gracie with a Clock Choke... long before Eddie Bravo was even fucking born... you are fucking dumb. Who did Bruce Lee fight? What makes him qualified to be one of the most amazing fighters in history without fighting?

  • @aikidoisthebombyeah yea im fucking Real man haha dumbass. i train BJJ and have been training MMA for a year now so i actually know what im talking about. many Many fighters have agreed that bruce was the only guy who in sparring or exibitions he could just play with fighters and know he was incredible. u really think someone can only be considered great if they win belts and that bull? u dont know anything clearly. and im sure eddie would do just fine against those other guys u said

  • @xXBeastfromdaEastXx wait... so I guess you were fucking wrong about Eddie Bravo being the first to tap Royler... Which fucking fighters agreed that Bruce was the only guy who could play with other fighters? What are their names and their credentials? DON'T SPEW FUCKING SHIT OUT YOUR MOUTH. I never said that one had to win fights or belts to be considered GREAT... but you have to win fights and belts to be considered a GREAT FIGHTER. Learn some fucking English.

  • @pearcemark2 you are missing the point my friend... royler is one of the greatest grapplers in the world but he is well past his prime. look at the number of medals and titles that he was won in the grappling world... even if eddie bravo defeated royler again, it would only prove that he defeated a royler well passed his prime... still a very impressive feat for sure... but again eddie has never won mundials, brasileiro, pan ams, or adcc... he'z badass for sure... but perhaps a bit overrated?

  • @aikidoisthebombyeah Eddie started training jiujitsu when he was 24.Royler started trainig when he was born.

  • 4 sure eddie is a bad muthafucker... but in all sincerity... eddie has never won the mundials, never won the pan-ams, never won the brasiliero, never won the adcc... he has never won any major title... neither have any of his students... eddie's only claim to fame is that he tapped royler... that's great, not many people have done that... but could there have been a little bit of luck in that as well? can eddie do it 9x out of 10? hard to say...

  • @aikidoisthebombyeah There's supposedly gonna be a rematch in April, so we'll see what happens.

  • At :10 you can see eddie grabbing his own pant leg.....thought this was NO GI???

  • @TerribleOne718 You're allowed to grab your own pants not the enemies.

  • agreed, by eddie teaching everything he knows, it make his students better, which provides more of a challenge, which in turns makes him better, and so on and so forth..... Many of eddies students before they can make black belt have beaten numerous black belts in various J.J. styles...... Kudos to E.B. on developing his students to their "A" game, he surely doesnt have the ego factor....

  • thats a fucking brown belt?? dude was gassing hard.. looked like a chump.

  • @luchador1764 hey man, if you know some kind of secret that makes you ungassable, even after going hard against a more experienced opponent, perhaps after multiple rolls, feel free to share. Wouldn't mind droping the constant conditioning sessions, I fucking hate them

  • @luchador1764

Come by JJ Machado's academy and see if he's a chump. I'm sure he'll change your mind after you roll with him. He's a solid black belt who can go either gi or no-gi. Excellent competitor, too. Let me know when you come by, I'll make it a point to be there as well.

  • Wow, props to Craig, got some good positioning on Eddie, good roll.

  • how old is Eddie Bravo?

  • @monkfg he just turned 40

  • Eddie received Black under Machado.

  • IMO both gi and no-gi helps for the street because no matter what clothing is being worn you can easily adapt to the situation. Eddie invented an ingenous guard, especially useful for smaller opponents, plus it makes setting up submissions easier, just it takes a little more time, although that doesn't mean it has no flaws. We simply need to sit back and watch the art evolutionize, because it can only get better from here.

  • how is eddies guard passing? On most of the videos i have seen from him, if he gets put in half or closed, he just trys to pull guard again

  • If you don't train with the gi you'll develop bad habits. The best Jiu-Jitsu practitioners train mostly with the gi. Roger Gracie, Marcelo Garcia, Braulio Estima, Ronaldo "Jacare" Desouza, Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro, Saulo Ribeiro, Demian Maia, all train extensively in the gi.

  • @Snoochy2006

    You sir are a retard.

  • @IamAlwaysRight Lol, what the fuck would you know jackass. Call me retard you know something you stupid fuck!

  • @Snoochy2006

Shut that little dicksucking mouth of yours before you embarrass yourself again, Retard.

  • @IamAlwaysRight Haha ok douchebag, embarrass myself? How about you spit some knowledge my way if you think your so fucking smart ass clown. Please tell me how I'm retarded since you know so much faggot!

  • Gi is ok, but I prefer no gi.I mean, when judo(the base for bjj) was invented, most japanese people wore kimonos on their daily lifes, so it made sense they used a kimono.

Nowadays, it's more for the sport. If you want to participate in gi tournaments, train with a gi.If you want mma, train no gi.

  • Did you guys notice Eddie and Craig were wearing a shirt and shorts? That is what people wear on the street when they fight. A kimono is supposed to simulate a shirt? They are wearing shirts already. You guys blind?

  • It's important to learn gi and no gi. More tools in your tool bag. I think to say gi is impractical in real life is not true. People wear clothes in real life. A lot of the collar or lapel chokes in gi jiujitsu can be done with even a t-shirt. I know cause i've done and had it done to me. In cold weather area's people wear jackets which are less prone to ripping. But still agree with some of the guys on here, learning both is better than just one. It gives you more options.

  • @LittleJ2008 self defense wise your right gi is good for on the streets but for the mma fighters it causes bad habits. I'd rather spend a whole year training no gi instead of half and half. Difference of opinion I guess since I have seen ppl have success in mma training gi, but for me I'll stick with the 10th planet system.

  • people wear jackets in cold weather, then take them off before they start a fight. unless you start fights, you prob wont defend yourself vs someone wearing a heavy coat.

  • I find it strange that you guys don't employ the darce more.

fighting for the leg before the chevi etc' creates alot of openings for darce with a little twist of the hips.

  • Self-defense wise, training with a gi is good because it teaches fight-ending techniques for if a person would wear jeans and/or a leather jacket (or most other types of jackets) while fighting. No-gi is good too because it helps break the dependence on REQUIRING a gi to end fights and teaches how to deal with sweat and the use of hooks to replace sleeve grips and what not. I do think its compete bs that no-gi is "less technical" than gi. But overall, they both have their applications & are fun!

  • gi is also heavier. youre training with heavier clothing. So you could transition to no gi alot easier after a few years, youll practically be the fastest in class. Gi really teaches you the technical aspects of grappling.

  • The Gi is suppose to simulate street clothing. If your in a self defense scenario the grip techniques that you learn with the gi will easily translate to a pair of jeans or most types of jackets. I couldn't imagine being in a street fight and using no gi techniques when the clothing is so easy to grab. If for nothing other than control. thats why we wear a Gi. No Gi is more sport/MMA intensive and still serves a purpose in self defense, just not as much as a gi.

  • @civrosado1 I know what you mean, but what if the guy takes off his shirt? Guys that fight in the street on hawaii take their shirts off for this reason. They don't want to be grabbed as easily. I guess on the mainland street fights with shirts and jackets on are more common.

  • @D26808 I'd probably stay away from the ground game in the streets all together since whenever I get in fights their is always more than one person and I wouldn't want my face stomped on when I'm giving the guy an arm bar lol ask for one on one I'd use everything

  • That's not really true. I am a Gi man myself, but lets be honest by saying, i'm not gonna be doing spider guard in a street fight. It has some realistic aspects to it, like choking with a jacket....but if you're REALLY a gi fighter, you're only hurting yourself in a street fight. Like I said, I train Nogi secondarily, I love the techniques of a gi, but it's not for street fighting, I do it because I love it. Although, I figure we all could hold our own on the street.

  • Personally, i'm a fan of the gi. I love that it's much more technical, and the guard positions are much more fun with a Gi. I've spent most of the last year training with a Gi on, but have recently givin No-Gi some attention, I love both, but i'm ultimately a Gi competitor.

  • i never understand the beef, gi is awesome as is no-gi, both are excellent for your bjj, i myself find more options in gi making it more interesting, in no-gi some big guy can just stall aka jeff monson, but i still really enjoy it. As for eddie he says get rid of the gi, but then says to be open minded, then he admires marcelo garcia when garcia says ultimate technique is learnt from the gi, training just gi or just no-gi is limiting your bjj.

  • Well the way I see it, is there really isn't no beef! Because, the ultimate goal is to be able to defend yourself efficiently in the streets to whatever situation calls for it. Now unfortunately, if you are one of those weirdos that wears his/her gi in the streets/malls and school yards (believe me, I've seen it!) - then you'll realize that the gi is not realistic/practical in real life situations. So, the no gi game had to evolve eventually!

  • People wear jackets, coats, jumpers, all of which is utilised in a gi.

  • I've been training for about 9-years now and buddy let me tell you that all the other fabrics you've mentioned rip! The Gi material is carpet rough thickness - especially designed to handle the Dojo's vigorous regiment.

  • All materials vary, but, from experience most jackets cut you and rip from the ziper. Coats are too thick which fatigues your thumb pinch grip. And a jumper, dude - most jumpers are synthetic and paper thin like silk. The only thing the jackets, coats, jumpers are good for when it comes to jiu jitsu is the drags for sweeps to escapes and holds! BUT, NOTHING IS MORE REALISTIC THAN NO GI, BECAUSE YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT WORKS IN THE STREET.

  • For Example, I know over 2-dozen different sweeps - without a Gi and on the streets, and when I refer to the streets, I'm talking about no Gi/real life scenerios/ No Gi tournaments (I've competed!) I can tell you from off of the top of my head that ONLY 6-7 SWEEPS THAT OUT OF 24 PLUS THAT I KNOW WORKS!

  • Now that also goes for submissions, because, without a Gi - in real life situations, you know have to devise a way to execute the technique without the advantages of a Gi. And that's my only gripe with a Gi. It goes the same with all of these watered down Material Arts today.

  • I literally seen black belts get brutally destroyed in the streets - why - because, just like the UFC Dan Rogan states it about Lyoto Machida -"People learn Karate for years and the practical aspect of of real life situation, the true test fails -- ITS NOT REAL!" Lyoto Machida, however, has devised a system from his father that encompasses all of the best things from various martial arts without all of the others. Concluding, the Gi is not relevant and or practical aspect of Jiu jitsu today!

  • @JEDIAL9 dont you mean joe rogan lol

  • But, I'm betting that he won't because when Royce got dominated by Mat Hughes, he had no Gi - SO WHAT DOES THAT SAY?

  • @daz45 you're very right i've seen fighters who trained gi bjj and were amazing but when you pull their gi off they lose all their handles that their use to and they become lost no gi is fun because you have to really adapt yuor style and have to really really think about how your gonna keep that guy down

  • @PKtraceur93 True you have to make adjustments but training gi will ultimately make your no gi game better you just have to look at the adcc champs to see who does the best, because of the gi being a slower game with much more going on making you have to think more, i find gi more tiring as well at lower belt levels because they go fast pace with a gi on so your fighting in what feels like an oven also mentally your tired and you have to be thinking all the time as there is so much more going on

  • @daz45 very very true

  • Eddie bravo caught royler in a traditional triangle and it was legit. But he hasnt accomplished anything since then. Shinya aoki is the only student of his who successfully uses the rubber guard in mma. I think He is an amazing talent and has done tons for bjj no gi. But I hate no gi schools who promote people with traditional belt rankings.

  • Man, I see so many people in the UFC use the rubberguard improperly, it hurts. Whats so hard about hugging the knee. It hurts to see guys just grabbing a foot.

  • Well, maybe some of the guys are not as flexible as others. Then again, not every fighter studies with Eddie.

  • linp arm at 4:28... i was waiting for it, fuckin beautiful

  • and by good i mean like a jeff monson (i think hes still brown, unless hes been promoted recently)

  • I wonder How long That brown Belt Could go With Rickson

  • well judging from how long brown belts usually go with rickson id say a good brown belt has 60 seconds.

  • LMMFAO @ .57 ecs. look at those two lardasses getting ready to roll.

10thPlanet man. """" You got the touch, you got the power, """"

LOL, these phonies keep me in STITCHES.

  • you obviously have never tried using the rubber guard and have seen its efficiency

not to say its better than any other guard but why limit yourself?

  • ive seen jj machado tap eddie many times

  • just because machado taps Eddie many times doesn't mean you shouldn't respect what he has done for no gi jiu-jitsu. hes created a whole new style of jiu-jitsu that's proven to work very well

  • To be honest. That was uncalled for. Sorry

  • Comment removed

  • 1:23 Eddie's like, FUCK how'd this stupid bag get here!?

  • wat it amazing......

  • Eddie is an innovative and creates such unorthodox positions that are adaptive to the no gi game, that is why his name is so big.

  • has eddie ever been tapped since hes been a black belt by a student or challenger

  • LOL. Thats because he talks alot and never completed again.

Eddie has never won ADCC or a top BJJ COMP

  • Depends who the Challenger is.

He is good at BJJ but not a top guy.

  • im sure he taps all the time

  • streetfighter youre a fag ive been in over 50 streetfights and won most by knockout but i train jiu jitsu a few times a week. you think youre tough but what you gonna do if a 300 pound cat you cant beat gets on top of you when he knocks you down from a strike? im gonna armbar him

  • internet tough guy who doesnt now shit! Go fuck yourself you french Cunt!

  • haha what a champion you are. im not going to challenge you to a fight because that is just over the internet bullshit. but i beg you to go to your nearest brazillian jiujitsu school and challenge any of them to a streetfight...preferbly a blackbelt but i suppose whites or blues would do just fine. i hope you can provide an honest account of your experience. have a nice day mr streetfighter sir =)

  • 0 efficiency, horrible base at 4:53, overall LAME!

  • Wow after studying his Rubber Guard and Twister books I'm seeing the positions come into play, like the Dog Fight, the Truck and all of the half guard stuff. I feel like I'm really learning a lot from those books and these videos really help as well.

  • Damnit eddie, come train me. right now. im really getting good and im flexible as hell, if i got to practice rubber guard every day id be a beast.

  • Just looking at them gets me tired lol. These are freakin beasts.

  • wow nice match, although im new too i could see eddie's huge advantage with his rubber legs and amazing ability to outpower the bigger guy.

    bjj rules

  • (You mean 10th planet;) )

  • that was a great match Craig did a good job

  • I'd be fuckin' lost in that one.

  • yeah dude at the begining i dont even know wats going on lol , im still a beginer traning jj for just 3 months.

  • jeeeze, epic haha

  • yeah, he is missing his fingers, right. That is what eddie said helped him in no gi.

  • It would be hard to train if you gave your left hand

  • If that were the case you could always go train with Jean Jacques Machado. He doesn't have a fully functioning left hand and he is one of the best in the world!

  • i would of give my left hand to study under eddie , i cant imagine how does it feel to train at 10th planet awesome job keep it up !!

  • eddie is tryign to submit, he just cant do it, not uncommon, the guy hes training with a brown belt under the machados, which is black in many schools. many times, even with purples vs blacks, they fight to a stalemate, esp with 5-10 minute rounds

  • @ArchStantonx ur exactly right joe rogan is also a machado brownbelt but seeing him role only 3 guys eva tapped him-that ive seen atleast, jake shields mayhem and eddie

  • He didn't win 03. He didn't even place.

  • You're all idiots. Eddie is teaching as he rolls. giving up things he'd never give up in a comp match. From what I've seen of his compitetion matches, he's rolling at less than half speed so that he can TEACH and make better the person studying with him.

  • Considering you dont know what the fuck your talking about...Eddie teaches all his students everything he knows, he holds nothing back, so a brown belt under Eddie would know just about all of his moves and how to counter them...you can't expect the match to be quick and easy....its a technical chess game and thinking game....good job on failing to grasp the fundamental principles of jiu-jitsu...and Eddie still won...so who cares how long it took?

  • god, you're an idiot. the guy trains with eddie, is a brown belt under jean jacques machado.. which means he'd eat you up on the mat. training partners always give each other problems cos they know their setups and strategies..

  • Hehe, There's no such thing as an average brown belt. To become a brown belt in BJJ is a big deal. To become a black belt is like becoming a Doctor for most people.

  • sooooooo true

  • If you look closely, he purposefully does not take some obvious openings. Right in the beginning of the match he is sitting there with a compression lock wide open to him (on the calf when he is going for the twister position) -- yet he doesn't take it. Do you really think a BJJ black belt would give up a calf crush simply because he forgot?

  • hes not trying to beat him, theyre training, drilling, people just dont spar to win all the time, theyre trying to learn from and teach eachother

  • YES!! I totally agree... sometimes you just work on transitions, moving from one position to another, and sometimes, you just go as long as you can and work on your cardio. Try giving up the obvious move and work on something you need a little practice with.

  • hey eddie lets smoke one bro

  • pretty cool mats, where do they sell'em?

  • I love jui-jitsu but sometimes I don't get the match up. Leo had no problems with the Eddie Bravo guard, but against Jeff Glover he felt like he was playing catch up . When they where both up I thought Leo was going to pass Glover guard easy. Why? cause I thought that Eddie had the more unusual game.

  • Man eddie seems to be getting atleast possitionally TOOLED for most of the fight. That must have been at the tail end of class.

  • No, he was intentionally lowering his skill level to work on his defence from bad positions. He did make one or two mistakes that allowed the other guy to pass his guard but he wasn't rolling all out.

  • Textbood 'Old Dead Pussy' at 4:27, lol.

  • I mean 'Textbook "DPO"(Dead Pussy Order)'.

  • i smoke daily especially AFTER training...it helps with some of the bumps and bruises and muscle strain.

  • Didn't that guy look huge compared to Eddie ...or am I just that stoned ?? :)

  • That match was awesome, Both are very good but Eddie is the best

  • from an outsider looking in that was great. I was wondering why eddie isn't competing more. He is fun to watch and a great grappler. They don't drug test at tournament do they?

  • Im pretty sure majority of Brazilian practitioners smoke bud like crazy as well

  • Whoa, great stuff guys!

  • At 4min 27 sec into the match, Eddie does a cool limp arm from the dogfight, Craig reacts by laying on his back and Eddie passes without hesitation.Really cool move in case you missed it....

  • lol well as a new student i cant see much but im learning and seeing how effective bjj is in real world applications also.

  • Great Stuff Craig and Eddie! My legs are killing me from drilling the lock down!;-)

  • Very good technical match.

  • Craig showing really good defense on the twister set-up.

  • Awesome new videos ... Please keep em' coming :)

  • who did eddie get his blackbelt from anyone know?

  • Jean Jacques Machado

  • thanks alot

  • Eddie received his black belt from the man himself, Jean-Jacques Machado. After winning Abu-Dhabi in 2003, Machado called Eddie to the front of the class, took the belt he was wearing from around his waist, and presented it to Eddie. And if you don't who Jean-Jacques Machado is...type his name in the YouTube search engine

  • If somebody doesn't know who Jean-Jacques Machado is without google, they must not be a real grappling fan.

  • eddie didnt win adcc
