  • 20F here alone and bored and horny c

  • Am I the only one here that thinks Choke the book is funny? I mean I understand how it's going to be a funny movie...

  • i love palahniuk, but this book sucked...kinda hard. this movie looks gay.

  • i laughed throughout the book. i think it has a comedic undertone throughout most of the book. the point is victor is pathetic but doesn't even know it. he doesn't understand what's wrong with him. and he makes humor out of terrible situations. im not sold on this movie by any means...but im willing to give it a chance. we'll see

  • Uh-oh ... this looks like horrible treatment of an amazing novel ... it looks like one of those Judd Apatow films mixed with a bit of Sideways.

    Oh no.

  • "Amazing" isn't the right word, but its the first that comes to mind

  • ...this looks actually funny. Thank god someone can take a Chuck Palahniuk book and not ruin it. (aka Fight Club).

  • @StudofAmerica I thought the movie fight club was excellent and perfect to the book

  • Was it me or was haunted and diary horrible?

  • fuck, its a comedy...fuck i was expecting a good movie

  • Sofia Coppola should have directed this.

  • I wasn't expecting a second fight club at all, but reading the book I felt such a powerful sick pathetic feeling, and none of the clips I have seen REMOTELY convey this. I think a novel should convey the tone of the book. This is definitely routing near a comedy more than anything. Clark even says he likes the feeling it has of a certain part of this world.. I strongly feel that 'part' isn't light hearted and sweet like he so humorously puts it.

  • I Can't wait for this

this seems like the type of movie that will be based off the book, but will have a lot more added

  • funny how he never mentions Chuck Palahniuk.

  • I hope the scene where Victor chokes gor real in the police station makes it inot the film. I nearly died with laughter when I read that part of the book.

  • I loved the book. I hope the clips were shot by the behind-the-scenes guy 'cause if its the real thing, i'd rather imagine the film than watch it. I loved Mr. Clark Gregg as an actor, but as a director... absolutely... NOT! I know he's no Fincher but... hey... Okay. maybe I should watch Choke anyway, maybe it'll be good, maybe I'm wrong about everything, maybe it'll turn out to be better than fightclub... NOT! Can't wait to watch the trailer... maybe it'll be different than I expected... N..!

  • Well now that this movie got bought by Fox Searchlight they might be able to make some good changes to it. This may not be "Fight Club" but I'm still excited to see the book to movie adaption.

  • I know this hardly shows anything but it appears to be more of a raunchy napoleon dynomite that a dark chuck P (ha ha) novel. Im pretty skeptical. Hopefully the themes and atmosphere of the book will get through.

  • Clark Gregg is one of my favorite actor! :)

  • I think you all just want another Fight Club movie so you're automatically overcritical.

  • I agree. This isn't Fight Club II. If they did the movie like Fight Club, everyone would be complaining that "He just tried to rehash Fight Club." I think that Chuck may have a different vision here. So what if the colors don't feel "write."

  • Technically it's not Chuck's vision anymore. Chuck has made it clear that this is Clark's baby. He even said that his favorite parts of the movie were the things Clark added to it that wasn't in the book.

  • I don't like it... the colors and scenes just feel wrong. Like Fight Club, I enjoyed the switch. the settings felt write. I know the director has a say in what happens in the movie. But it seems like he just fucked it all up and altered the feel that you should get.

  • god it looks like a sitcom

i hope he didnt ruin such a great chance of a movie

    great book. love it.

  • Choke is a awsome book; read the book. I hope Clark dosen't butcher the book.

  • That guy's the only guy who shouldn't make it. Even Brett Ratner could have made a better film. He totally missed the point. He missed the whole feeling of the book. What a hack. This could have been such a good film. If only Clark Gregg hadn't made it. Shit.

  • Choke is pretty good

I like Lullaby and Survivor the most, though.

(a survivor movie would be amazing, but at the same time theres a chance it could kill the book)

  • Just looking at the clips tells me that Clark hasn't done the book justice. The book is amazing but extremely graphic, the movie should be darker and less shitty TV viewpoint. I'll still see it when its hits theaters but my hopes aren't high anymore

  • I would have to agree, Choke being my favorite novel by chuck so far, I have had very high hopes about the film, it looks to clean, not gritty at all

  • Wait, the music is from film.

"T.V.ish" isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind.

  • see also:poorly made

  • Chuck Palahniuk's writing is so gritty and awesome and I started reading the book cause I heard they're making the movie and fight club was GREAT. But I was picturing in my head the narration being like Edward Norton's all grim and repulsed like Chuck's writing. This looks to happy an "T.V.ish" but mabye it's just the music in this interview clip. I hope so.

  • cheesy, admitedly funny, and self-congratulatory arent the right words, but theyre the first that come to mind.

  • the book was so fucked up when i heard they were making a movie based on it i was wondering how they could avoid a XXX raiting. that book had some realy hard core moments something like erotica. READ THE BOOK THEN SEE THE MOVIE.

  • have grow up with making films life And anything eles in fimmaker. do it see it own it.

  • Choke was one of the greatest books I've ever read, I was kind of excited when I heard they were making a movie out of it, but im kind of scarred to. It seems liable to get fucked up. The clips aren't doing much for me either. The tone seems totally different than the book.

  • diary is better.

  • I disagree =D

  • i agree with your disagreement

  • im so glad this movie got picked up by fox searchlight. i'm so excited to see it. all the reviews i've read so far have been good, which makes me even more excited.

  • I think it looks cool, I know how subversive the book is but at the same time it's quite glamorous and I think alot of the time, the weirdest movies look cleaner, think of American Psycho or even Don't Look Now...

  • why was my comment removed??

  • What you guys are saying about this looking "clean" is spot on. I too had a completely different vision than what I am seeing here. This doesn't look as perverse or "dirty" as what I pictured.

I just loved Choke, one of my favourite books ever. I hope they don't screw it up.

  • it does look a little clean, and these clips aren't giving me much hope for the movie. I do think Sam Rockwell is perfect for Victor, the actor playing Denny I can't tell though. In the book they talk a lot about Denny's shaved head, this guys got a fro, I guess it isn't intricate to the story though.

I still have hope for this movie and high expectations, after all it's been 9 years since the last Chuck Palahniuk book was made a movie and that was a masterpiece.

  • I read the book and had a completely different vision in my head. Watching these clips it looks kind of empty...the book made me feel really trapped and dirty...looks just too clean.

  • ive read almost all of chucks books and i must say i couldent put this one down it is definatly my favorite.

when i heard about the movie i was so exited and seeing from the clips it looks like its going to be fabulous

  • When I read Choke, I had just heard of the casting for Sam and the guy who played "Denny". I saw "Denny" in the show Showtime series Dexter. (Also a great book) He played a security cop who was kidnapped. I pictured Sam as his character "Guy" in Galaxy Quest! lol. It worked for me! :)

  • i kinda wish ed nortin was the voice over and main character. i saw him when i read the book. he just did a hell of a job in fight club.

  • Can't wait to see this. Love Kelly Macdonald, Anjelica Huston and Sam Rockwell!

  • Watch "Japanese 911" interesting

  • yes omg i've been looking forward to this for awhile it looks good

  • is anyone else looking foward to the roll playing rape scene?? it better be in the film...puppy

    See also: chronic masturbator

    Awesome

  • Lay off all you goons! It's not bad

  • Thanx for the warning to NOT WATCH THIS film... Gross out... stupid characters that are OVER DONE as a crispy TURKEY.

  • yeah im pumped too. ive been following this for a while.

  • I really, really want to see the movie.

  • choke is my favorite CP book and book in general....i was a little nervous about it becoming a movie, but that clip calmed any of my fears....sam looks great as victor and they kept the narration.....cant wait til this comes out!!!

  • God, i hope this is good.

  • I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it, so as long as it makes it to DVD I could care less how well it's recieved.

Now lets throw the words "The Cult" on here for good measure.

  • I'm a little sceptical to believe this will be received very well as a film, and hoping it won't turn people off the Chuck if it's not played out right, but we'll see what Clark is able to turn out.

  • Oh my god, I can't wait
