I have a bunch of family from the U.S., so I'm always in the middle of these US\Canada hockey spats saying "can't we all just get along?". Of course, this is just a bunch of people commenting on a YouTube video, but stuff that gets said often gets blown way out of proportion.
One person says "in your face!", and things go downhill from there. The U.S. played amazing, deserved to win and did on "Super Sunday", then came up short (barely) in the Medal game, and that's it.

Canada Russia Final in Vancouver. I think USA needs to beat Canada on Saturday, 20th, if they are to have a chance for Gold. I have nothing but respect for US, but I was at the Russia Latvia game last night, and it's much, much more than NHL, it's really a big deal to win. The emotions plus skill will be tough for the USA young team, IMHO.

Your days as hockey's premier power are numbered. If you want to live in denial while the walls come crashing down around you, go ahead. Other countries are rapidly approaching you in terms of talent. Russia already produces better high-end talent, Finland already produces better goalies, and the USA just turned over an entire generation of Olympic players in 4 years and went 3-0 in the prelims. Countries are also producing deeper talent pools, which it used to be only Canada could so.

The contradicting thing about the "Own the Podium" BS is that I didn't even hear about it until the games started.
Ads ran endlessly before the games where kids said "We believe that a Canadian can win A (singular) Gold Medal on Canadian soil - we couldn't do it in Montreal, and we couldn't do it in Calgary."
It wasn't exactly an "own the podium" mentality we had. I was personally hoping we'd win a Gold at one point.
Why the bashing, though? Both nations have equally as much to be proud of.
