  • YUUUUS! finally a rangie owner who ACTUALLY gets it muddy! you're awesome!

  • Shiny hasn't got an 'e' in it...

  • @BigLeoInDaHouse Whoops! Hadn't noticed that before.

  • Humve is better.

  • Well that was boring, I reckon my olf ford escort van could do that...

  • Way better with Offroad Tires than Hummer .

  • It's nice to see one getting dirty. Rover in North America has grown into the luxury SUV market and most owners don't let their Rovers touch dirt. I don't run into them on the trail unless a club has a get together.

  • I could not do that to my Range Rover I love them!!

  • Еще поди на шоссейной резине

  • we hadded thy, ain'ts thy

  • Very nice! Thanks for posting!

  • Fairly impressive for what is, essentially a road car that evolved from a 4x4. Especially on those tyres!

  • that thing looks weird when its all the way up

  • Brutal!!! Eat that yankee 4wd's!

  • That thing gets tall as hell

  • hey whats that doing outside of the city!! nah good to see one getting dirty.

  • it looks to have 0% traction, but still looks like its racing up the hill? land rovers are magic now?

  • take that Hummer

  • Good attempt. Hat off to you or leaving the tarmac. Still think the new RR are not as good as they once were (by this I mean off road). Disco is going the same way. They are going all "cross over" or should I say that they have "crossed over" already!

Shame as they are a good motor (I've had 3 in my time).

  • is that the factory suspension all the way up?

  • @BLACKLACDTS I believe so, yes.

  • @RyanP332007 oh my fkin god. That's what so great about the Range Rover! Just change the tire and you can go practically anywhere u would ever wanna go!

  • @BLACKLACDTS It's called Extended Off-Road Height

  • @TheBrodievanity thanks

  • this is the default programmed high-standing or it's reprogrammed?

    thx

  • all land rovers even to today are meant to off road.they have more capability than the old ones.people just see luxury and say hey its a 70k car why take it off road? because thats what they are made and known for. in a land rover you go beyond anything.btw range rover is a land rover, the model is just called a range rover

  • Most pathetic little mud hole i have ever seen. Range rover has gone the way of hummer and there is no sense denying it

  • @wileysixsixtysix afraid it's one of the smaller site we get to go to and the amount of mud (strangely enough) is related to the amount of rain we've had in the previous couple of weeks. Not sure I agree with the Hummer tho'. The RR has naturally developed, but the H2, H3 etc share nothing with the Humvee apart from ugly looks, and were just dumped on a mediocre GM chassis and running gear if I remember correctly. The Humvee was/is very good, but very heavy - it's brethren, not so.

  • @RyanP332007 There are more similarities than differences when it comes to off road performance.

-Both have craptastic IFS front suspension. You will never do any serious wheeling with IFS, if you try, you will destroy your alignment. This really is my biggest beef with both. You just don't even try if it has IFS, not worth the PITA.

-Excessive "bloat" from safety/luxury features, heavy but not strong.

-Substandard suspension, not really fit for offroading.

    -Terrible ground clearance.

  • @wileysixsixtysix I guess you've seen the video on YT of the H2 that breaks a tie-rod? (Tried to post a link but it doesn't let me...). I have seen a number of LRs doing similar things and come away with broken half-shafts, propshafts, diffs and jammed gearboxes!

  • @RyanP332007 IDK I might have not really sure. I've spent a lot of hours and days repairing things, anything can break no matter how strong but your odds are better with good straight axles.

My point with all of this is, if you own a new RR you're obviously rich, so why don't you buy something made for the offroad instead of destroying a nice on road vehicle..

  • @wileysixsixtysix My isuzu IFS works pretty well, keeps up with the land rovers all day long. Articulation is definately compromised with the IFS but theres plenty of fun to be had in the mud without a solid front axle !

  • @wileysixsixtysix you are trying to act like you know a bit about cars and you dont haha funny

  • @wileysixsixtysix TOUCHE

  • @wileysixsixtysix - Notice the Range ROver classic in the background on ~35" creepy crawlers, the new RR went everywhere it could. You bring yourself down to a play day on road tyres and we'll see how far you get.

  • @FlyingSpanners I had a $900 Nissan with a small lift and $120 worth of used mud tires. What can a $60,000 Range Rover do that my Nissan couldn't?

I destroyed that Nissan, just like you would destroy that RR if you took it where I wheel. However, it cost me less for the whole truck than your first broken axle shaft will, so I don't think I did too bad.

  • @wileysixsixtysix What can the Range Rover do that your Nissan can't? How about 150mph round the Aston Martin test track. In air conditioned luxury with 5 people on board.

Seriously, this is a quick clip from a play day of someone actually using one of these things as they were designed, it's not supposed to be the ultimate hardcore offroading video so I suggest you stop taking this so seriously and put your dick away.

  • @wileysixsixtysix something tells me you're a fucking moron.

  • range rovers USED to be for off road. Now the are a luxury brand. Who takes an 75 thousand dollar car off road anyway?

  • In the '70's when Range Rovers first appeared, they were marketed towards the richer existing customers that found the Series 3 too utilitarian. The RR was more comfortable due to coil springs, though I'll admit that the really early ones still had hose-down interiors.

As regards to who takes the new ones off road; in the UK many people do.

  • If in my country it costed that money, I would take it offroad, but it costes $182 000 with the base engine.

  • @divedeep17g Who has much more than 75k )

  • Comment removed

  • Every Range Rover bought in the UK is taken offroad when it's owner collects it from the retail. Try driving in the UK and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

  • @divedeep17g any one that feels like it.it a 75k monthly payment car.only pussies wont take good cars that were meant to be used off road to their potential.just because it has luxury doesnt mean anything.its good all around, unlike a jeep.you can drive it any where and look good while doing so

  • @divedeep17g i do

  • BULLSHIT, you have no idea what you are talking about. land rover make range rovers EXACTLY for this reason. they arent intended to be 'chelsea tractors'

  • There isn't another 4x4 that comes straight out the box that is as good off road as any Solihull / Halewood product. With off road tyres they are unstopable in the right hands.

  • i know they came with off road package but i whoudt take it off road, i took my 07 grand cherokee but its jeep. but this is more for freeways, 2 nice.lol

  • Maybe it's because they cost too much to get scratched ..... those that may adventure off road don't belong to the owner but are on lease contract or company cars..... driven by CEO's for weekend fun.

  • I love how people jump all over every video of a Range Rover doing anything short of scaling Everest. The tires that come on them are shit. Put shit tires on any vehicle and its going to spin a tire every now and then. My RR with its shitty street tires has gone through rougher areas than many Jeeps. Don't be pissy because you can't afford one.

  • Now this is what i expect from a Range Rover.

  • that suspension makes that thing mad high.

a range rover with some decent tires on it is a $80,000 unstoppable luxury offroad machine.

  • I think you will find Rang Rovers were considered King of off road and still are to many. In many ways their far superior than defenders but their not as practical in the rough stuff due to their wheel base and very expensive body work and alloys and tyres etc. Defenders are built for work and off road RR's are built for 5 star restaurants on top of expensive mountains and the school run. I do my school run in a defender 110, i play off road in a disco (kitted out), defender and RR. LR's Rule.

  • if they were not build off road use then why does it have low range, and high tech diffs, also why would it be capible of having 11 inches or ground clearance????

  • exaclty mate some people just dont understand

  • that was hot

  • looks funny with small tires

  • the big body Range gets SOOO HIGH in it;s elevated stance! definately awesome!

  • thanks to air suspension

  • It could maybe make it through this obstacle, but overall not a chance.

  • looks higher than minedoes when on full height, could be smaller wheels?

  • Why dose that one go up so high?

  • they probably all go up that high, there owners get don't realize it!!!

  • looks like there are smaller wheels on it as well

  • Nice to see someone using their rover! Instead of keeping it a pavement princess.

  • Whoever took their brand new range rover off road is definately awesome!!!

  • I wouldn't go as far to say that Guy is "awesome" but he is slightly mad :)

  • No, he IS awesome... I believe RRs are about 80k now? He bought it for its engineered and intended purpose. Those who never take one off road are the mad ones. Buy a car with all-wheel drive if you aren't going off-road.

  • lame... my blazer would get through much easier.

  • Hah!

  • My Navigator could do that. Maybe. :}

  • how can you even bring up a hummer fucking idiot. we are talking about class, style, heritage, performance, real tough vehicles and unbeatable off roaders for tradition. we are not talking pieces of shit, that when a ever a nigger makes a little money, goes buys one, fits it with road tyres and spinning rims. you ignorant fuck. I bet you carry a bling bling.

  • consumer report

  • haha hell yeah

  • dude dont be so agressive on the throttle you just loose traction

  • You have to be - traction control doesn't kick in until the wheels are spinning.

  • i wasn't talking about traction control i was talking about the grip that the tyre has on the mud

  • land rover / range rover overpriced over rated lumps of shit !!!!

  • previous comment to imdanoob5

  • i hope someday i can afford a range rover!

  • When that days comes, buy the diesel version, my V8 petrol Rangie drinks like an alcoholic.

  • thanks for the advice, but the diesels usually don't run like like the petrol engine!? but of course diesels are more efficient...

  • plus the extra tourque adavantage makes them better off road!!!

  • off roaders nowadays have too much kit,too heavy.they should have simple off roaders like bowlers and toyotas.

  • Range Rover...thee best SUV on the market to date. The people who hate simply can't afford them, or have no knowledge on what this vehicle is capable of. They r SUVs and then they r wanna-b-SUVs such as the Escalade, RX, ML, QX, Aramada and so on. The Range Rover is just not for off-roading or what have you but u can take it to the store, a premier, or even a nice night out to dinner. I love it and will 1 day give it to my fiance as a gift.

  • good choice.but the toyota land cruiser is more up my alley.

  • well said, the vid shows the car doing it well, and think about the comfort inside while doing this, most jap junk throws you all over the place, a jeep makes you think it needs a turret with all the noise going on and a cayenne would need the RR to tow it out!

  • umm that's kind of the fun in off roading, that's why it's so fun in a jeep because you get thrown around it's awesome

  • can u please tell me how the hell this vehicles is going off road with these kind of tyres ?? am I missing something ?? sure i am. PLEASE enlight me.

  • this car sux offroad, buy a chevrolet k-5 blazer instead lol. citycruising tires off road. gotta be kidding me

  • its one of the best off road cars ever built actually

  • so true range rovers are nice suv's but they are just mall cruisers and nothing more.

  • Actually, the RR will beat almost every other SUV when it comes to a hill or downhill, because it is more than a cruiser.

  • wow look at all the hills in this video. dont take one of those overpriced toasters on the trail because they dont belong

  • fuck off a range rover with shit all over what ever pice of shit you own

  • HAHAHA you would be amazed.

I though the same thing until I spent a day out on the trails with a RR. I thought my discovery would leave it at the bottom, but the RR was amazing. Not as good the discovery, but pretty impressive.

  • You're not missing anything. It is a combination of a very experienced driver, and knowing the capabilities of what he is driving. If it was really really muddy, then he may have struggled. But, there was some really gloopy mud at the top of the site which he managed to get through, though that was almost on the level.

  • A stock Subaru GL wagon can do that too.

    Nothing special.

  • what the hell is a subaru gl wagon

  • Are you serious?

  • i live in canada there arn't alot of them

  • junk!

  • this is great to see i hate people that buy these to go to the mall and never go off road

  • i have one of these. we never use it off road. but if we ever do go off road then we obviously take it. its great to drive and stuff ! so i dont agree with you their !

  • totally agree with you! they don't use it what it's suppose to be! but they just show off!!

  • "Dude" - how old are you?!?! Who uses "Dude" nowadays?

I didn't cut it out, I was still getting used to my new video camera and accidentally stopped it as I moved around.

I've watched the clip as suggested - and I don't see your point.

The Range Rover was off the road and was coping in the way it was supposed to. It was designed as a luxury off road vehicle that actually does what it says on the tin.

The Nissan was also designed to do what it does and does it well.

    Horses for courses.

  • apparently i'm old enuff to know how to use a video camera! lolz. I've driven this piece of junk, High center of gravity and very narrow, always rocking from side to side, even seen a few tipped over, its very heavy and has narrow tires, perfect for getting stuck! not to mention that dreadful air suspension gives up all the time. check out the videos in my faves. If luxury to u is breaking down constantly and riding on a crashed suspension, u've got the perfect offroader dude.

  • Your pretty much saying the opposite of truth for everything except for weight. The RR has a very low center of gravity for an SUV of its size (its one of the things they are known for), a RR will handle steeper grades than my Jeep did, it has 255 series tires, they aren't that narrow, and depending on terrain, wider isn't always better. Also the newer RR's have a much more reliable suspension than previously. The HSE will destroy a Yukon/Escalade offroad, its closest competiion domestically.

  • im pretty sure range rovers are not known for a low center of garavity, even though there wrong, alot of people i know think that there top heavy and roll easy, but i live in Canada, and most of those people where jeep lovers!!

  • Actually they *are* known for their stability. And that has a lot to do with a low COG.

  • im not saying that they don't have a low cog,but everybody i know says that there too top heavy!

  • Right tyres pressure...makes miracles.

    the driver adds the rest!

  • It looks like the rear of the vehicle was very high even with the EAS. Were there some modifications or is it just the pictured angles?

  • No mods that I'm aware of.

  • oh well that is amazing regardless of suspension settings. This is good driving and makes the range look good off road. as opposed to some videos that have mediocre drivers. Very good vid.

  • Angles - the ruts are deep enough to ground a standard Defender and the hill is steeper than it looks on video. I was surprised just how high that EAS goes.

  • nice, finaly a good video of a Range Rover ,good gob buddy.

  • oops i said good job,lol

  • plus, with that powerful engine and those tyres, a spinning wheel is bound to happen.

plus the TC spins the wheels to keep you straight, just like the hill decent control, it brakes each individual wheel to keep you going in the desired direction.

  • L200dlw obviously jealous of Land Rovers.

  • If I wanted a LR I would have bought one

  • And don't tell us - if you had any sort of chip on your shoulder about that you'd go round putting negative comments on videos of Land Rovers...

Is that you stuck in the pond at Farley Quarry? I wouldn't be commenting on others' driving abilities if it was.

  • I don't have a chip on my shoulder about LR and it wasn't my truck in Farley I have a 57 L200 raging bull, I love the defender, but it's not suitable for me and RR are now just made to be Chelsea tractors and not off-road vehicles and then they are raved about how good they are doing the "off-road stuff" I would like to see one do what the L200 did in my vids and drive away 2 hours later.

  • Tell you what - you tell us what Guy needs to do with his RR to impress you and we'll see if we can arrange it, how's that?

If he does it, I suggest a donation to the SLRC nominated charity would be in order.

Oh and don't be daft - it's still on road tyres and doesn't have a snorkel so let's not play that game eh?

  • The ability to raise and lower suspension to the extent that that Range Rover can is pretty impressive

  • ya i thoughthere high but i didn't relize there where this high

  • it looks higher than my moms

    lift?

  • lol

  • its called air suspension theres a switch than will raise or lower ride height for off roading or loading

  • That guy really doesn't know how to drive off-road, gunning it through the smallest puddles

  • You need to get the wheels spinning, otherwise the traction control doesn't kick in. The driver is a very good off-road driver. I had trouble getting up the same slope (which isn't actually very steep) in my Discovery. The surface was extremely slippery, though it was quite hard underneath, but it meant that wheels were spinning on the surface. Even with the minor gradient "gunning it" was required by most if not all of the vehicles running around that day.

  • for a start off, hes not gunning it, and secondly there has to be a certain ammount of revs for the TC to kick in ;)

  • Half of the revving you can hear is from the brown LSE in the background.

Also, you'd know if Guy was gunning it as there would be less than four wheels in contact with the ground...
