@matzehg most of the bullet impacts in this movie are overdone... but the .50 cal BMG is one of the few bullets that can actually dismember or even lift a target off the ground... i have even heard of cases wer people wer hit at the waste and blown in half... it also matters alot what gun is firing the .50 cal bullet

Now, the dismemberment is possible. Even small rounds such as 7.62'a can do it. All about shot placement.
