Nice blued balls, Mike. I'd definitely classify myself as a shooter, given only the two options on the table. I do love guns based on looks, history, etc. But my first and last considerations are defensive practicality. I suppose as I acquire more and more firearms, I may start tilting a little more towards the creepy fondling side. :)

You make an excellent point mike. It especially rings true with these 1911 anniversary models. None of us will get to see the 1911's next centennial, so buying one of those special editions is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. I see nothing wrong with simply admiring a gun like that and not shooting it.

I seem to buy them faster than I can get to the range. Currently, I have 7 guns I have never fired though I am trying to catch up...its a good problem to have but I am not sure where I fall on your scale. As far as never fired, almost every gun I have bought new comes with spent shell(s) and worse, they don't clean them or at least don't do a very good job.

I'm a shooter. I shoot all the guns that I own, and at this point in time I only buy guns I intend to shoot. This is not to say that I don't appreciate more artful pieces that are best left unfired......I just don't have a desire to own one. I am drawn more to the engineering and mechanical aspects of these machines.

Im more on the shooter side. The guns I have are, (for the most part) specifically for hunting. However, this is probably more do to financial restrictions. If I hit the lottery i would have a lot of display guns. Probably more historical relics than modern "art" guns. Either way, guns kick ass!
