  • I sell it or Radio Shack. $1.50 for 1 foot length of the same solder I use for all installations with XBOX 360 controllers.

  • Ok were the fuck do u get sodder from

  • LMAO I just remembered when I was first soldering like the very first time I was trying it out I watched a vid of some guy doing it and he never told us what the melted stuff on the soldering iron and so I thought it was melted hot glue gun refills, Oh god my controller I was testing now has a big bashy mess around the leds And I ended up breaking one led slot. If only I knew it was melted solder.... Aww well everything has a first time XD

  • it is hard for me to put them on

  • Didn't have a soldering iron but found one at frys electronics for 2.99 and I tried to replace the LEDs and worked wonderful.

  • how many watts is your soldering iron?

  • @andreviloria - I use a simple 15 watt soldering Iron from Radio Shack @ $9.99. nothing fancy needed.

  • @andreviloria i got a soldering iron for 5.95 with shipping from amazon

  • u jsut weld the sides of the LED>?

  • @andreviloria - Yes, basically, you are soldering the ends down to the circuit board.

  • @blueorchidvideos i put some sotter on the soldering iron and touched both ends and tried getting the LED off but its like stuck to the board

  • @andreviloria - You need to move back and forth between the two points when the soldering iron is hot. You can tell it is hot enough when the solder melts instantly. It takes about 2-4 minutes for the iron to reach the right temp. Then move back and forth so the solder you put on touches each side and melts it. With the combination and light pressure, the old LED will eventually slide off. Do not force it off otherwise you will end up ripping off the old LED with the contact point that you need

  • @blueorchidvideos ok cool thanks

  • what type of solder should I use when installing the leds, and also, what watt soldering iron should I use?

  • nice~!!! me liky

  • where do u get these leds and how much do they cost?

  • @LAKES303 - From our website, listed in the video and on the top right information box. Or send me a PM.

    David

  • this is way hard

  • @terryispro - not really, with enough practice anything is easy.

  • ok i have 1 question i have a soldering iorn 15 watts but how do i get solder

  • @tresie2 Radio Shack sells it. Or if you order from us, ask us for some solder when you check out.

  • I just tried this myself...first time ever soldering, and i just failed. lol.

I wouldnt recommend this for first timers. =[

  • @SurrealModz _try a newer 15w soldering iron and giving it about 5-10 minutes to heat up. Once at the right temp, and with enough solder, the back and forth motion should ease the LEDs off.

putting them back on requires just as much patience. Its not hard, but don't expect it to just snap in place. Practice on something old first.

    Good Luck

  • @blueorchidvideos Ok, thankyou. I have a 25w soldering iron. Would that be fine?

  • @SurrealModz It should be more than fine, the risk with using more than 15w is if you hold the point too long, (2 seconds -ish) you might start burning the board or other issues. I have heard that older soldering irons don't heat up enough and then people get frustrated and end up ripping the LEDs off with too much force. The LED should literally "float" off, just cover the existing contact points with solder, move back and forth to keep them both hot, and it will float off easily.

  • @SurrealModz did you break it? what happened? did the controller stop working or do the lights just not work? I am considering doing this to my controller and if the lights don't work if I fail then that is okay, but if the controller stops working then I would get pissed and probably won't try this

  • my blues 1 came in 2day thankz

  • @tresie2 No Problem!

  • Just got some red ones from you. Thanks!!! Awesomely helpful!

  • I was suprised you didnt cover your light with solder... You seemed a little nervous because you were shakeing. xP

  • @DrewStares The shaking is because the camera is right in front of the circuit board and I had to either look through the LCS screen to do the work or stare around the camera while trying not to burn myself or the board. Its much easier to do without the camera in the way!

  • @blueorchidvideos oh haha. Hey well im haveing a problem putting my LEDs in, first of all, i took out all of my leds, flattened out the solder residue and i put my custom leds in, i didnt solder yet, but i put it over the slot, and it wont light up. I have tryed for 3 hours now and i have tryed this with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and fourth player. I also tryed with 5 diff leds to make sure the first one wasnt broken. Plze help.

  • @DrewStares Where did you get your LEDs from?

  • finally a high def video with in-depth commentary. Great vid

  • @JGates0923 THANKS!

  • do you have to solder only on the sides of the light where the the little needle looking things are?

  • Could u tell me wat type of l.e.d lights u use?

  • @691087 We use the same ones we sell on our store. BlueOrchidMods

  • what size solder* not wire

  • what size wire do you use with the 15 watt solder iron? I'm new to this and plan on trying this out on one of my older controllers

  • Wire is not needed to change out the LEDs.

  • what kind of soldering iron solder are you using in this video? or whats the best for the 0603 leds?

  • A 15 watt soldering iron from Radio Shack will work fine to do this mod. It is what I used in this video.

  • Hey I just purchased a mod kit for my controller and when it said to like press here to download instuctions and it didn't have the download so can you tell me the instructions or message me

  • Which color did you buy so i can check the link. The link you need was sent to your PM inbox.

  • is playstation the same way ?

  • It is, but not in the same pattern. The same method for removal and application is the same.

  • thankz

  • dam man ur good

  • what do you mean you can use aa batteris

  • You use the AA batteries to power the controller so the LEDs light up as you are installing them. Either that or you can attach a USB cable from a laptop or PC. The point is to have the controller powered up, but the XBOX off so the controller keeps flashing all 4 lights.

  • can you just leave th battery pack on

  • wut if you took of the mount will it still light up

  • no. You'd have to scrap the think plastic coating off the tiny cooper lead that lead to the missing mount and pray you can get the solder to adhere to that and the LED at the same time. Good Luck with that.

  • how much do you do mod the leds for?

  • do you mod other peoples controllers not just give them the kit to do it?

  • I have modded other people controllers before, send me a PM.

    David

  • dude i would probly use blue red and purple and pink just for fun

  • I have several customer buy all different colors and mix and match them just for fun. Makes their controllers stand out so when they go to a friends house, they don't get mixed up.

  • I provide 5 LEDs in case you lose one. Stealth/Sleeper indicates there are no new buttons added, you use the Sync button to change the speeds/mode you want.

I have another video posted that demonstrates how the Sleeper/Stealth mod works.

    David

    BlueOrchidMods com

  • hey im about to buy the: 3 Speed Dual Trigger Stealth Sleeper Kit for XBOX 360 Controller w Blue LEDs

    One Question though...

how many lblue leds does it come with?

    and also:

    What is stealth sleeper?

    plz responde by tommaro

  • hey what kind of LED's do you need, BTW im fixin to subscribe

  • It depends what condition you get them off in. If they are still usable, I installed them in to my PS3 controller to change things up. Otherwise, yes they just get thrown out.

    Thanks

  • What do you do with the LED's that you solder off? Just throw away like in a normal trash can? nice video too
